Thank you to Cathy from Wiggle Butts Photography for giving us the glamorous gala treatment!

Wilmington's Newest Doggie Day Spa and Salon Offers Basic to Luxury Services to Accommodate Every Pets Needs.
Conveniently located on Judges Road off of Market Street, our beautiful spa and salon is designed to relax even the most anxious pets and provide a calming atmosphere that your dog will love!
Hi, my name is Lady. I am 3-years-old, 50 pounds, spayed, vaccinated and good with other dogs. I enjoy hanging outside when it's not too hot and taking walks with people. As you can see, when it's time to relax, I love to snuggle. As you can also see, I enjoy playing with stuffed toys. I am housetrained and crate-trained but loud noises and too much ruckus makes me nervous. So, I would do best in a home with no young children. I need someone patient to work with me on leash-training since I love to chase critters on our walks. My perfect family will give me time to get used to my surroundings and will have patience with me as I learn to trust. For more info,
please fill out an application at www.rescueconnectnc.com or call RescueConnect at 910-302-7290 to schedule a meet and greet with me. Hope to meet you soon!
I am sponsored in loving memory of Nolan, a compassionate dog lover.
Calling All Boxer fans! My name is Piper and I’m a 5-year-old Boxer mix girl. I’m sad to say the reason I am looking for a home is because my beloved owner passed away. You can imagine how confused I am as I have been a treasured family member since I was a little puppy. I am housetrained, vaccinated, on heartworm prevention and I once lived happily with a cat. I’m friendly with children and my shelter friends were told I’m great with other dogs, too. I would be perfect for someone who is looking for a couch companion to snuggle with. Does that describe you? Come on over to Pender County Humane Society so we can meet, cuddle and get to know each other! For visiting hours or any other info, please call 910-259-7022.
I am sponsored in loving memory of Milo, Rocco and Don Johnson, who are loved and missed every day!!!
Hi, I’m a 4-month-old puppy girl who is playful, friendly and sweet! I don’t mean to brag but, out of all my siblings, I’m the first to figure out any type of puppy puzzles that we’ve been given, especially when food is in the puzzle. Training should be very easy for me since I’m so food motivated! I’m hoping you’ll come adopt me soon because my siblings have all found homes and I’m alone now in my kennel. I’m a Terrier mix, already spayed and vaccinated, and my ID number is A490276 You’ll find me at the New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For more info, call 910-798-7500.
I am sponsored by the Hufstedler family in loving memory of their past loved fur babies: Ella, Rex, Misty, Buddy, Dottie and Houston.
We three kitten friends are playful and sweet, snuggly and purry. We’re all girls, too, and just 3 to 4-months-old. You might notice one of us has a cast. Well, that’s me - I was hopping and chasing my pals and my leg got stuck! Don’t worry, by the time you read this the cast will be off and I’ll be running and playing again - good as new! Meet us at Southport Oak Island Animal Rescue (SOAR). Adoption hours are from 8am to Noon on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (closed on Thursday and Sunday). If you have any questions, please call SOAR at 910-457-6340.
We are sponsored by SOAR in loving memory of all their wonderful, furry friends who made it safely to the Rainbow Bridge.

THE UNFORGOTTEN SOULS
COASTAL ANIMAL RESCUE EFFORT (CARE)
Hello! My name is Star and I am ready to be your BFF! I was hours away from being euthanized at an overcrowded shelter when The Unforgotten Souls rescue pulled me. Since then, I’ve been waiting to find my forever family. I would describe myself as a very good girlie. I’m low-maintenance, I love all the people and kids I’ve met, and I’m a bit of a snuggler (my foster mom says I’m a Grade A++ snuggler). Did you know dog cuddles have been scientifically proven to improve your health? You’ll most likely live to be 100 if you adopt me. For real! I may like to sneak in some occasional smoochies, too. You know, a little smoocharoo never hurt anyone. I’m a good girl though and if you don't enjoy the smoochies, you can tell me and I will listen. Oh, I walk well on a leash too, and I’m house-trained and crate-trained. In regards to my doggie friends, slow intros are a must for me. As long as I meet a nice compatible doggie and we take it slow (pack walkies, etc.), we can totally be friends. Currently I’m besties with one of my foster mom’s dogs and we play all the time. My foster mom can tell you more about it and how to set me up for success. Anyways, I’m looking forward to cuddlin… I mean, meeting you! To add me to your family, visit www.theunforgottensouls.com and click on ‘Adopt’ or you may send an email to theunforgottensouls@gmail.com for more info. To check out videos of me, visit our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/unforgottensoulsrescue. ♥
Introducing the one and only Honey Buns! I am the bestest girlie and yes, I’m named after the sweet and sticky stuff that bees make. Not only do I have an absolutely sweet and delightful personality, I also love to be near my people. I absolutely adore everyone I meet, and especially love children.
I’m currently being fostered with multiple children and I’m very loving and gentle with them. I’m a self-described delightful, potty-trained, leash-trained, crate-trained, chill, loveable, 3-year-old girlie who is 50 pounds of pure joy. I have the cutest ears and the most kissable face. If you’re looking for a perfect, happy, and easy-going girl, visit www.theunforgottensouls.com and click on ‘Adopt’ or email theunforgottensouls@gmail.com for more info. To check out videos of me and our other adoptable pets, please visit our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/unforgottensoulsrescue. ♥
Hi, my name is Anna (Ah-Nuh...like from the movie Frozen). I am a 3-year-old Pit mix girl who LOVES people, ignores cats, and will require a proper introduction to new dogs. I really enjoy running and playing in a fenced-in yard and would love to be part of an active family. I am spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and ready to play in your backyard. I can not wait to be in my forever home! Please reach out if you are interested in adopting me by calling 910-256-2624 or emailing carewilmington@yahoo.com. ♥
A SHELTER FRIEND
My friends call me Midnight and I’m a Labradorable mix. Know what my favorite thing is? Giving kisses to my person! Don’t you wish that was you? They say I am super sweet and I may be a little chunky. Whaaat?! But I love walks so I can go on walks with you to keep us both in shape. I am the perfect age at 6-years-old. That is old enough to know right from wrong but young enough to have fun together. In addition to walks, I love to play ball and squeaky toys are my favorite. Of course, I am spayed and vaccinated and on heartworm preventative so I am ready to move in. Like right now, today! Call/text Sean at 910-918-5118 or Silvia at 910-876-0539 with A Shelter Friend to learn more about me and how we can meet up. ♥
Just one look into my eyes and you’ll fall in love. Chel is my name and I am the perfect affectionate companion. I am a tall and lanky Great Dane mix who is ready for every adventure. At 3 to 4-years of age, I am a sweet-natured, active girl who can’t help bouncing with excitement when you talk to me. It’s adorable! Of course, I am spayed and current on shots. Call Silvia at 910-876-0539 or text Sean at 910-918-5118 to learn more about me and how we can meet. ♥

OPERATION TOPCAT
My name is Peggy and I’m a beautiful, grey 7-month-old girl. I’m friendly and sweet, but also shy and quiet. I’d do best in a quiet home. I love to play, so a variety of toys would make me happy. I get along with other friendly cats but have never met a dog. I have had all my vet care and I’m ready for my indoor-only, forever home. I hope you will visit www.operationtopcatnc.org and submit an adoption application. You may also call 910-545-9885 or email lovemycats721@gmail.com for more info. ♥
RUFFIAN FOUNDATION
HAMILTON’S HEALING HEARTS
My name is Kai! I am a large and plush declawed Tabby boy. My humans decided they no longer wanted me and my two brothers after 9-years. We came to a shelter where the people are very nice to us, but we would love homes of our own again with people who will love us for the rest of our lives. My brother Jay was adopted last week and the other has a prospect for a new home. I hope it is my turn soon! I like people and other cats, I am sweet and easygoing, and I am neutered, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. Call Sharon or Barb at 910-262-8890 or 910-619-7198 and let’s set up a day and time to meet. ♥
WAGON TAILS FARM
My name is Liberty and I’m an affectionate ball of energy! I know some basic obedience and I’m working on learning patience. I’m great with other dogs and kids, but I’m still learning that jumping up on people is wrong. I will make a great addition to any family looking for a loving active pup. I’m spayed, microchipped and current on vaccines. I’m also crate-trained, housetrained, and doing well on a leash. To apply for adoption, visit us online at www.wagontailsfarm.org/adopt and start the application process. For more info, please call Wagon Tails Farm Rescue at 910-375-3105. ♥
My name is Duke and I’m a handsome 1½-year-old Great Dane who is neutered, current on vaccinations and microchipped. I have been bounced around from place to place because no one is familiar with my breed. I even lived in a townhouse previously and ask that anyone interested in me have knowledge of Danes. A meet and greet with any dogs in my new home is also recommended. I’m a big doll baby and love cuddles with my humans! I know basic commands as well. Could I be your companion? If so, please call 910-271-5170 or send an email to hamiltonshealinghearts@gmail.com.
My name is Callie and I love car rides and other big dogs. I’m super sweet, I’m heartworm negative, and I’ve been spayed and vaccinated. I’m playful and would do well with an active family in a cat-free home. I’m a Pit Bull mix who is around 3-years-old. Will you give me the chance to love you? For more information or would like to adopt me, please call 910-271-5170 or send an email to hamiltonshealinghearts@gmail.com. ♥
I’m Neko, an Aussie mix who came all the way here from Louisiana. I was pulled from a shelter where I’d run out of time. I’m about 1½ to 2-years of age, neutered, on heartworm prevention and microchipped. I have also been dog-tested and have done great with them because I’m very submissive. I’m a cuddle bug who hopes you’ll call 910-271-5170 or send an email to hamiltonshealinghearts@gmail.com to meet me. ♥
My name is Bubbles and there is no other kitty like me.
I’m the sweetest companion and the best thing since sliced bread. I have the most adorable tiny meow meow and I am very talkative. I am healthy, neutered, vaccinated, affectionate and cute as a bug. I promise that if you come visit me, you will love me! I'm already grateful to you for reading this. To adopt, please text Feline Urgent Rescue and Rehab at 864-483-2444! Sponsored in loving memory of Roxy.
Look at me sitting so nicely for my photo! Won’t you come discover what a sweetheart I am? At 3-years-old, I’m a Pit Bull girl with a friendly and outgoing personality. I am always in a happy mood, always so excited to see anyone who walks past my kennel. I love to play, so an active family would be perfect for me. I can go from having the “zoomies”, to taking a toy and rolling over in the grass, to looking at you and asking for belly rubs. I’m a pure delight! My ID number is A489956 and I’m already spayed and vaccinated. You’ll find me at New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington, so please stop by! Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For more information, call 910-798-7500.
I am sponsored by Adam's Folly Pet Boarding, Bolivia, NC. Thank you!
Hello, my name is Winnie! I am a very soft pastel Calico and white girl with the prettiest blue eyes. I was found wandering alone along a country road and was rescued by a sweet human. I am spayed, vaccinated, litterbox-trained and negative for FeLV and FIV. I have a spirited personality, so I would probably do better in a home without small kids. I love other cats! Please think about giving me a real home, won’t you?
Please call Sharon or Barb from The Ruffian Foundation at 910-262-8890 or 910-619-7198 and let’s set up a day and time to meet.
I am sponsored by Tony and Peggy Durso. Thank you!
◄I’m a fun and playful 3-month-old kitten boy who will put lots of smiles on the faces of those in your household! And guess what, my sblings are here with me and so is my mom! Won’t you come visit us? I am neutered, vaccinated and litterbox-trained and my ID number is A490283. I’d love for you to meet me and my whole family, so please hurry on over to the shelter today! ♥
►Well, hello there! I’m a very sweet Tabby boy, just 1-year-old, and if you come visit me I will give you head bumps because I am affectionate and people-loving. Can’t figure out why I’m here when I could be cuddling with a family at home!
My ID number is A490059 and I am neutered, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. You’ll love me so hurry over! ♥
◄Hello! I’m a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Cosmo (A304298) and I’m so ready to be your playmate and best friend! I may be 13-years-old, but I still have lots of life and energy in me. I am one very sweet and happy-go-lucky boy with everyone and I just love the soft, fluffy blankets that I’ve been given. I once lived with another dog and I have been fine with the other dogs that shelter staff have introduced me to. I am neutered and vaccinated and I’m looking forward to sharing our lives together! Come over and meet me, and please bring any other dogs or kids you have with you. ♥
◄I’m a friendly and happy Anatolian Shepherd mix boy named Maxx (A489515)! I’m looking for a home with folks who are experienced with my breed and who will provide me with consistent training. The nice folks here are teaching me commands and I’m doing very well! I’m just a puppy at 8-months-old but I also weigh 75 pounds. Please come meet me and bring your dogs and kids with you for a meet and greet! I’d love to get to know the entire family. ♥
◄I’m the sweetest meatball of a boy and I’ve been waiting for a family since June of this year! I take treats very nicely from your hands, I give hugs, and I will lean in for petting and as much attention that I can get. I’m a neutered 4-year-old Pit Bull who is up to date on vaccines, and I’d love to get to know you. My ID number is A488283, so please hurry on out to the shelter for a meet and greet with me. We can spend some time in the play area and you’ll see how sweet I am! ♥
◄I’ve been at the shelter since May! I’m a fantastic girl who knows how to sit on command, I take food and treats gently, I love belly rubs, and I’ll give kisses! At just 2-years-old, I’m a sweet, happy-golucky Pit mix who loves being with people. My ID # is A487640 and I am spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and on flea prevention. All I need now is you! ♥
◄We are the purrfect kitten combo - two white brothers, just 11 to 12-weeks-old. Our names are Prince and Goose and we can be adopted together or separately. We are vaccinated and will be neutered prior to going home. We are friendly, loving and playful, too! ♥
◄I love to be held and loved, but look at me sitting all alone in my photo. I need you to pick me up and give me cuddles! My name is Olivia and I’m an 11 to 12-week-old kitten girl who is as sweet as they come. I play well with toys and other kittens and am up to date on my vaccines. I’ll be spayed before heading home with you, too. Come on over so I can melt your heart with my darling purrs! ♥
◄Get Your Lab Love Right Here! My name is Aster and I'm a 1-yearold Yellow Lab mix girl, as sweet as can be. I’m your typically happy pup, but I’m a survivor, too! Yep, I somehow ingested rat poison before coming to the shelter. Luckily, my new friends got me emergency care and I made a full recovery! Now I am just enjoying life and waiting for my new family to walk through the door. I love to play with other dogs and kids, I enjoy going for walks, and I have a lot of fun with toys. I am also spayed, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention. Come see what a great girl I am! ♥
►It’s me, Nubby, and I’m ready to steal your heart away! I’m an adorable little boy, just 11 to 12-weeks-old, and I love everything and everybody. I am full of entertainment and will even sit on your shoulder! I love toys, playing with other kittens and cuddling with humans. I’m vaccinated and will be neutered before going home. Let’s meet! ♥
◄A total cutie-pie, that’s me, Mischief! I’m an 11 to 12-week-old sweetheart who is curious, playful and an absolute delight! I have the prettiest Calico colors and enjoy batting at toys and playing with other kittens. I’m vaccinated and will be spayed before going home with my new family. Come visit, fall in love, and fill out an adoption application. Life will be more joyful with me in it! ♥
◄Hello up there! My name is Jewls and I’m a 4-month-old Pit mix puppy girl! I’m a very happy and sweet pup who loves being given attention. I’m good with kids, I’m good with other dogs and I’m up to date on puppy vaccines. I’ll be spayed prior to my adoption. My friends at the shelter think I’ll be a big girl when fully grown. If interested in me, drop by the shelter or go ahead and fill out an adoption application on the website at www.penderhumane.org. I’ll be so happy to grow up as a member of your household! ♥
My name is Mira and I'm a 4-year-old German Shepherd. My people abandoned me at a rural shelter after leaving me tied to a tree my entire life. I was pulled from the shelter and I'm in a wonderful foster home now. On my freedom ride, the transporter told my foster mom that she thought I had a seizure. We went straight to the vet office and I've been taking Keppra ever since. I've had a few more seizures as we got the dosage and schedule worked out, but I'm doing great now. I am a very calm, sweet girl, but I'm very aloof until I get to know you. I would do best in a calm, quiet home and I get along with all of my foster brothers and sisters. Oh, and in case you wanted to adopt me, my medicine costs $31 a month at Costco. That’s only around $1 a day. I am a little finicky and will only take my meds if it is wrapped in melted cheddar cheese or wrapped in black forest ham lunch meat. I'm much too smart for pill pockets or any other sort of trickery you might try. For more info about me or if you’d like to meet me, contact Coastal Canine Rescue by calling 910-470-5554 or emailing coastalcaninerescue@ec.rr.com. You may also visit www.facebook.com/CoastalCanineRescue to see pictures of me and other pups looking for homes.
I am sponsored by Christy Lee. Thank you!
◄My name is Lester T. and I am an old soul inside a young body. I’m 1-year-old and I don’t play too much, but sometimes I can’t get enough of my fishing pole. That little white area on my nose is the perfect “boop” spot, which isn’t my favorite, but it makes my foster mom happy so I’m ok with it. I enjoy getting pets all over and scratches on my cheek and I will snuggle right into your lap. I’m a little cranky when first introduced to other kitties, but I adapt. I’m FIV+ and it is not currently affecting my health. I have a normal life expectancy and can be around non-FIV cats. ♥
►My name is Joellie and I am a petite blind girl with a big personality! But I am very smart and learn my surroundings quickly. You will know when I want attention, which is often, because I will meow at you until I get it! I love being petted and don’t mind being held. Being blind doesn't cause me any issues using the litter box, and I get around the house well. On the rare occasion, I will get overstimulated, so a home with older children or no kids would be best for me. I get along well with other cats with time and proper introductions. I get along with calmer dogs, too. I have been patiently waiting to find a furever home for a long time. I do not attend adoption events, so please let us know if you’d like to meet. ♥
Adoption Fairs EVERY Saturday from 11am - 3pm at Pet Supplies Plus in Porters Neck (134 Hays Lane) or call 910-707-4372 to meet by appointment.
◄My name is Odie and I’m a big, docile sweetie who loves pets. I can be a little shy and skittish at first, but once I warm up, I will come right up to you when you walk in the room and chat you up with my highpitched meows. I love playing with toys, especially my favorite mousie, but I really enjoy relaxing, too. I get along with people and calm, older children. I’d do best in a quieter home, as an only pet or with other friendly and calmer cats. I haven’t met a dog, but as long as they are calmer, I think I’d be fine since I’m pretty chill. I am 5-years-old and FIV+. Just so you know, cats with FIV live long healthy lives, just a little more prone to some infections. It’s not easy to transmit FIV, so FIV and non-FIV cats can live together. Message for a meet up. ♥
►Have you ever seen such a cute curly-haired orange cat? My name is Shirley Temple and I am a sassy and classy girl who is very good about making her opinion known - I am quite vocal. I always want to be around my people getting attention and getting cuddles and pets. I like to sleep right next to you, and my purr can be heard from across the house. I’m playful and will be a great constant companion for someone. I’m a diva, but I also do very well with other cats and would make a great friend to another kitty. Send us a message to meet me in my foster home. ♥
◄Hi, my name is Nebraska and I am a stunning Calico beauty Queen. I’m around 13-years-old and I’m a very loving and sassy girl. I found my way into a scary shelter last year and was very lucky to make it out. I am a Lap Cat and a huge cuddle bug, and I love to sleep against my person's side. I love attention, but if you do something I don't like, I will let you know, so small children would not be a good fit. It will take a while to adjust to a new environment, so I am available as a foster-to-adopt, which will give us time to get to know each other. I tolerate other cats if they don't get in my space, but I would be great on my own. I am calm and quiet and would be a great companion for someone. Sometimes, when I'm in a really good mood I get the zoomies and play like a kitten. I am current on vaccinations, spayed, and litterbox-trained. ♥
►My name is Milk Dud and I am an energetic boy who’s super fun to play with. I love it when you drag a ball on a string or have a laser to chase. When I’m not playing, I love to cuddle with you or lay wherever you’re working or sitting. I may be a little shy at first, but will blossom into your best pal! I would prefer a home with no other cats. If you’re interested in adopting me, please reach out to set up an appointment as I do not attend adoption events. ♥

My name is Jazzie and I’m a beautiful 1-year-old Tuxedo girl with striking green eyes and white whiskers. I’m just the sweetest kitty, I’m outgoing, I love people and other cats without hesitation, I enjoy snuggles in your lap, and I will do little hops up to get pets or a kiss on the forehead. While I’m still very young and want to play whenever you bring out a toy, I’m calm for my age and like to snuggle or just hang out nearby. I would most likely do incredibly well with kids since I’m extremely patient and gentle. I’m the mom of two adorable kittens, one all black (Harmony) and one Tabby with the cutest little black nose (Cadence). Being the absolute best mom, I also adopted an orphaned kitten (Melody) as my own and have raised her along side my own girls. When I first saw Melody, I immediately reached out to pull her in and groom her. I have been spayed, I’m perfect with the litterbox, I’m up to date on vaccines, and my babies are about 12-weeks-old and no longer nursing. That means I’m ready to go to my forever home! Because I love other cats, I would do great as an addition to a house with an adult cat or kitten, or I can be adopted with one of my babies. If you’re interested, apply at www.friendsofelines.org/adopt and click on the Adoption Application tab on the lower right corner. For info, contact Friends of Felines by emailing friendsofelines@aol.com or calling 910-232-7741.
I am sponsored by Cindy Meyers in loving memory of Harley, Murphy and Sophie.
My name is Carmen (A428338) and I came to the shelter when my owner entered the hospital. Unfortunately, there was no one else to take me in, so here I am, ready and waiting for you! At 3-years-old, I’m an American Staffordshire Terrier girl who is happy all the time. I mean, my tail just doesn’t stop wagging! One unique thing about me is I wag my tail up and down, and then around like a helicopter. I absolutely love getting all of the attention and all the belly rubbings. I am just one big, beautiful goof ball and a fabulous find for any family. Come out to New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit to say hello and bring your dogs and kids, if you have them. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For info, call 910-798-7500.
I am sponsored by Pawville. Thank you!
◄Hi there! I’m a very pretty Calico girl, just 1-year-old and as sweet as can be. I’m known as Mama Kitty due to my former life as a teenage mom. Thankfully, those days are behind me as I’m now spayed and ready to be the baby of your family! I’m a very friendly girl with a low-key attitude and I love getting attention from humans. I would love a home where I can sit in your lap or by your side and get lots of snuggles. I am also vaccinated and litterbox-trained. The only thing I’m missing from my life is a family. ◄I’m a 7-month-old pup named Luke and I am just the cutest! My friends at SOAR say I’m the sweetest, silliest, funniest boy. I’m doing well with my leash-walking skills and would be sure to excel in any basic obedience course. They tell me I’m a Beagle and Hound mix and would like you to know I’m vaccinated and will be neutered. Won’t you come by the shelter to meet me? ♥

◄▼We are a sister and brother pair named Twizzler and Malcolm, just 3-years-old and super-loving as well as playful! We are a bonded pair so we must be adopted together. That’s me, Twizzler, the girl, on top. Malcolm and I both have a genetic eye condition that makes one of our eyes a bit cloudy, but it does not affect our quality of life or ability to bring joy to your home. Come meet us
today, please. You will find us at Southport Oak Island Animal Rescue (SOAR). Adoption hours are from 8am to Noon on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (closed on Thursday and Sunday). If you have any questions, please call SOAR at 910-457-6340. ♥

Hi there! I’m a 1-year-old purebred Husky named Nymeria! My friends would like you to know that I’m such a good girl. I love to be petted, I love to give kisses, and I love to play. I was once a very thin stray, but I’m gaining weight and doing very well. I’m a talker like most Huskies are, and I’m going to need a home with a fenced-in yard for exercise and playtime. I am spayed, vaccinated and current on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. I’d love to meet you and any other dogs you may have, so please visit me at the New Hanover Humane Society in Wilmington. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 10am to 2pm, and you can also call 910-763-6692 with any questions. I’ll get my toys ready!
I am sponsored by Jackie Houser of Flexner Houser Injury Law because she can’t adopt us all!
◄Hey there, I'm Scottie, your new bestie! I may be a little shy at first, but once you get to know me, I'm 50.9 pounds of love and cuddles. At 2-years-old, I'm still discovering this big world and learning to trust the humans around me. But give me a chance, and you'll see my heart is as big as my smile. I’m a boy who enjoys quiet walks, cozy naps, and tasty treats. I’m currently undergoing heartworm treatment and will be back to normal in no time! Let's embark on this journey of friendship together! ♥
◄Hi there, I’m Ferris, a 25-pound, 3-year-old boy! Some call me short-stack, low-rider, or the teeny-weeny Hound dog, but let me tell you, I have a full-sized personality! I’m active and fun and would love a home with a fenced-in yard. I’m also a very chill dude who likes sitting at a window and watching the birds. Sometimes I’ll even sing with them! And I’m definitely a big belly rub lover! If you want a pal who is affectionate, active, and has the voice of an angel, I am your guy! Won’t you please visit and meet me? ♥
◄Hi there, I’m Mocha and I love to cuddle, get pets, be rubbed, all of the things. I just love to be loved! Not only am I a good girl, I know how to sit, too, as you can see from my photo! I’m a mixed-breed, just 1-year-old and I weigh around 47 pounds. I would love a forever home with loving people and a fenced-in yard. Sometimes I forget how big I am when I play, so it would be best if there are no little ones in the household, just teens and/or adults. Please give me a cookie when you visit and I’ll sit for you! ♥
◄I’m Petey and I’m a tripod pup! Yup, you heard that right, I only have three legs! Don’t worry, I’m doing great! I’m your typical loving, playful, goofy puppy who is ready for anything and everything! At just 33 pounds and 7-months of age, I’m a growing Terrier mix boy who has a lot to learn! But boy, I’m ready to learn all of the things! I’m truly a one of a kind pup and I’m ready to meet you! ♥
◄I’m Cinnamon, a 47-pound, 4-year-old gal with a courageous soul and a heart as sweet as my name! Despite facing neglect and mistreatment in the past, I have a spirit that remains unbroken, and my resilience shines through like a beacon of hope. I’m searching for a home filled with love, patience, and understanding – a place where I can heal and rediscover the joy in life. I’d love to be the only pup in the home, and a fenced yard would be perfect! With each gentle touch and reassuring word, you'll witness my trust slowly blossom, as I learn to wag my tail once more and embrace the warmth of human companionship. Are you the hero I’ve been waiting for? ♥
◄Hey everyone, I'm Stormy, a girl who is the life of the party! At 1-year-old, I'm still a pup, but I've got energy for days and a heart full of love. Being a Black Lab mix, I've got classic Lab goofiness and loyalty, but with a little extra pizzazz! Playtime is my favorite time, whether it's chasing balls, playing tug-of-war, or just zooming around the yard. But don't worry, I'm a cuddle expert, too! There's nothing I love more than snuggling up with my favorite humans after a long day of fun. Let’s meet at the shelter real soon, okay? ♥
Raleigh
Paris
◄▼I’m Raleigh, a silver and gray Tabby boy who was adopted as a kitten together with my sister Paris, pictured below. She’s a lovely black house panther. We are now 2-years-old and our family says they can no longer take care of us and returned us to Cat Adoption Team. I’m a gentle and sweet cat who loves to give kisses. I’m great with kids, and especially gentle with toddlers. I’m also playful and good with laid-back dogs. Paris is also a gentle, sweet, funny and laid-back cat. Like me, she’s great with kids and good with laid-back dogs. We have been together all our lives and would love to be adopted together. It’s tough for young adults like us to compete with all the kittens so please consider adopting us - a couple of sweethearts! Call or text 910-599-2755 to meet us. ♥
◄Hi there, I’m lovely Lydia, the softest 3-month-old silver/gray sweetheart. I was rescued with my mama Leah and siblings (who are all pictured on this page).
I’m laid-back and gentle. Like my sister Lacy, with whom I’m bonded, I love to be held and cradled like the baby I am. After a good nap I’m ready to rumble with my brother Liam. We kittens are happiest in pairs where we learn together, keep each other company and out of trouble. My friends at Cat Adoption Team think Lacy and I would make an excellent pair! To meet me, my mama or any of my siblings, please call 910-599-2755 and let’s arrange a get-together! ♥
CAT: Cat Adoption Team
◄I’m beautiful Lacy, a medium-haired silver/gray/blue 3-month-old kitten. Like my mom and siblings (also featured on this page), I’m a gentle and laid-back girl with a spunky personality. My favorite pastime is snuggling up for a nap and my second favorite pastime is chasing my siblings up and down the cat tree. I love chasing my fluffy tail, too! I am bonded with my sister Lydia and it’s believed that together we’ll grow up to be the most gorgeous cats.
To meet us, please call or text 910-599-2755. ♥
◄I’m a stunning, silver/gray beauty named Leah, just 1-year-old. I’m still a kitten myself, but I’ve proudly raised Liam, Lydia, Lacy (featured on this page) and Lucy. I was rescued from a crawl space where I had sought shelter and safety for my babies. I seek lots of attention, and I love to be petted and rubbed under the chin. I’m a sweet and deserving girl and an excellent mama, and now I want to be the kitten I was always meant to be. To meet me and my family, please call or text 910-599-2755. ♥
▲I’m adorable 3-month-old Liam, the only boy and the only black/white kitten of my litter, and I’m ready to find my forever family! I’m a happy little fellow who was rescued from a crawl space with my mom and sisters. You can see my mom Leah and two of my silver sisters on this page also. I have the sweetest personality with a splash of rambunctiousness to balance out my little motor that never stops purring. And did I mention my tiny pink nose with matching toes? I’m the cutest! Call or text 910-599-2755 and let’s arrange a visit. You can meet my family, too! ♥
My name is Buddy (A466499)! My owner passed away and now I’m looking for a family to love. I have a happy-go-lucky, friendly personality and I sit for treats! I’m just 3-years-old and hope to soon see you at New Hanover Sheriff’s Office Animal Services Unit. Please call 910-798-7500 with any questions.
My ID Number is A490219! Cuddle Bug Alert! I’m a 6-month-old Pit Bull girl who is looking for a new mom and/or dad. I love to cuddle in laps and I take treats very gently from your fingers. Meet me at New Hanover Sheriff’s Office Animal Services Unit and call 910-798-7500 with any questions you may have.

ADOPT: All of our cats are anxiously waiting to be adopted! Whether you want a mellow Lap Cat or a bundle of energy, we will help you choose the cat who is right for you!
CRAPPIE
My name is Crappie, just like the fish. I have had a crappy life, though, that is until I was saved from the torn down Atlantic Seafood place. Life was pretty rough but I have come a LONG way! I desperately need love. I am partially blind, but my heart is whole. I am a tiny girl and FURR has already paid for dental surgery for me. I had several teeth pulled and I feel so much better now. I LOVE treats and I do a silent meow when asking for them. I get along great with other cats, but sometimes they pick on me. If you want a kitty to care for who will return your love ten fold, please come and visit me. I'm hopeful someone will want me soon! Also, my smile looks like Grumpy Cat, which makes me even more adorable.
DONATE: Covering medical costs, pet supplies and food are every day expenses for FURR. We accept monetary and non-monetary donations which are tax-deductible to the extent of the law!
CONNOR
How could anyone resist my adorable little kitten face? My name is Connor and I’m a cutie pie Tuxedo boy. Everyone here says that I’m just the sweetest guy you’ll ever meet. I’m waiting to be swept off my paws and loved forever. I’m an absolutely PURRFECT kitten who you are guaranteed to fall in love with. Let’s enjoy life together.
VOLUNTEER: There are lots of ways to help our cause, from raising awareness about spaying/neutering, to helping with fundraisers or simply volunteering time to care for the kitties!
OSCAR & EMMY
We are Oscar and Emmy and we we’d be honored to award your home with love and joy. We are so amazing, we’re really friendly and we’ve become Official Door Greeters here at FURR. We can provide you with tons of fun every day. We enjoy play time and with lots of room to run all over the house, we will entertain you. We are silly siblings who love life. At 1½-years of age, we will be the best kitties you've ever had for many years to come. We love new challenges, chasing toys, playing with kids and talking all about it. We are fully vetted, microchipped and ready to go. Why don't you come play with us and see what we have to offer. Check out videos of us at www.catfurr.org.
My name is Bumble Bee and FURR rescued me from a bad situation. My big, bright eyes look just like a bee and my colors do, too. I am no bigger than a football and I have quite a silly and sassy personality. After I get to know you, I will follow you around while meowing and sticking my tail straight up in the air. I'm 1 to 2-years-old, I’m spayed and vaccinated, and I love belly rubs. They tell me that I've probably had a litter of kittens in the past. I wonder what happened to them? All I need is a little patience and love to become your little friend. Please come visit me soon. I would probably prefer no dogs (they stink), loud children (they also smell), or other cats (they'll steal your attention). Just call me "Bee" for short. Stop on by our website at www.catfurr.org to see videos of me. For more information or to adopt me, text Feline Urgent Rescue and Rehab at 864-483-2444 or send an email to adoptafurrcat@gmail.com.
I am sponsored by Pawville. Thank you!
For the past 7-years, I have been looking for a family to love me. What gives? I enjoy naps in the sun and movies on the couch. My name is Franny and I'm a Beagle and Hound mix girl who loves playing with toys and going for walks, especially during beautiful sunny days! At around 45 pounds and 10-years of age, I'm house-trained, leash-trained, spayed, vaccinated and heartworm free. I am longing for a home, with a fenced yard, where I can be an only dog. Although, I’m good with mild-mannered dogs if you have one of those. If you are allergic to cats, that's fantastic, because my ideal home wouldn't have felines. Please allow me to be your loyal companion. My greatest wish is for someone to see how wonderful I am and open their home to give me a chance at a full and happy life. If you’d like to meet me, please send an email to jhinson6@ec.rr.com or call Columbus Humane Society at 910-499-1194 and leave me a message. You can also visit the Friends of Columbus Humane Society Facebook page and send a message.
I am sponsored by Nina Voltaire and Ben Salasko in loving memory of Pook.

◄Hi, I’m Brenda (AF2936) and my littermates and I are looking for brand new families. We are 12-weeks-old and we would be happy to be adopted with another kitten if you don’t already have a friend for us at home, but we also make a super best friend on our own! You’ll have so much fun when you come visit, so hurry! ♥
◄I’m Kyra (AF3330), a Treeing Walker Coonhound puppy, just 4-months-old. I’ve heard many of you love Hounds so I’ll be happy to have a busy family or a quiet one - basically, all I need is a loving home to teach me how to be the best Hound I can be. Some extra work now will make for a fantabulous future. My sister Junie is here, too. Come meet us! ♥
►I’m Cosmo (AF3095) and I’m still a baby at 6-monthsold. Everyone here just loves me, they say I am strikingly handsome, athletic and smart. If you or someone you know is looking for a lifetime buddy, we’re a match, ’cause that’s what I’m looking for, too! Where you go, I go, and you’ll always have a best friend by your side. Come on by the doggie dorm and spend a little time with me! ♥
◄Hi there, I’m Opal (AF3319), a 10-week-old kitten girl. I’m one of the many tiger types in the KitCat Lounge at the shelter. We come in all kinds of shapes, sizes and personalities, so I’m sure you will find your match. And just so we don’t waste any time, please know I already choose you! Come over and spend time with me, then take me home! ♥
►Hello there, my name is Murphy (AF2813)!
I’m a 2-year-old Pit Bull boy who gets lots of attention - it could be because I’m all ears! Everyone says I’m a friendly fellow and I love to play and hang out with my people. My shelter friends also say I’ll be a very attentive family member so please stop by to say “Hi” and meet me. I’ll be listening just for you! ♥

◄I’m a handsome and sleek boy named Nani (AF2957) and I’m much admired for my striking coat and gold medal eyes. If you would like a youngster without all the work of a kitten, we should definitely meet! I’m 1-year-old and have already been neutered, so I’m ready to go and start living a life of pure happiness with you! ♥
Freedom Bridge Animal Rescue NC
►I’m Emma, a 1-year-old youngin'. I had a bum leg but it's almost all better now. I'm just a dainty little girl and love playing with my foster fur siblings. I am such a pretty girl! I went to the doggy doctor so I am super healthy and ready for my furever family. I am kinda nervous when I first meet you so I hope you'll give me a chance to get to know you and warm up. Life didn’t start out so well for me, but rescuers told me that’s all over now and only good things to come. I can't wait to meet you! ♥
◄My name is Ink but I like Drako better. I'm only about 1-year-old and already have had some disappointments in life. First, I was picked up as a stray and my people didn't come get me. The shelter made me very nervous and sad, but then these people came and said I could be part of their family! I was sooooo happy to have my very own family again. But then, I guess I liked to wiggle butt too much and play with the little one they had, so they brought me back. They said I was a really good boy, but just a little too much for their little one and kept knocking her over. I didn't mean to - I was just playing. So then I was back to not having a family again. I heard the people talking and said I was on “the list”. I didn't know what that meant until my doggy friend next door told me. You see, we talk. I said "but I didn't do anything bad" and he said it didn't matter - there just wasn't anymore space. The people there even let me play with other pups and I really liked them but I guess it wasn't enough. Luckily, FBAR sprung me out! They brought me to a cool foster home but they had things that made a weird noise, like a meow, and I really didn't like them. Now I am with another really cool foster parent and just lovin' life. I do like to play hard but I also like to nap hard. Pretty good balance, I think. My doggy doctor said I was good to go. I have no wormy things in my heart, got a little chippy thing, got neutered and got all my shots. So now, I'm just waiting for my forever people. I love to do zoomies so a fence would be super cool. I am still learning my manners but I REALLY want to be a good boy so I will try very hard. I wouldn't mind a furry sister but I'm cool if I'm the only pup in the house. I don't like those meowing things (I think you call them cats), so that wouldn't be a lot of fun for anyone. ♥
►My name is Onyx and Gypsy (pictured on page 31) is my mom. I love her and I am so glad we got to be together because the person who found her didn't see us pups. My sister and I were really scared when she was scooped up (so we were hiding). We heard her trying to tell the nice people but they didn't understand her. Us pups were terrified because without mom, we just didn't know what we would do. Fortunately, someone spotted us the next day and we were reunited. We couldn't stop smiling since we were together again. Our mom fed us and we moved into a wonderful foster home. They gave us a safe and warm place to stay so mom could take proper care of us. My sister has found a forever home but I have yet to find mine. I’m all good now, I can eat and play on my own, and I’m ready to find my family. I'm only about 3 to 4-months-old. My doggy doctor gave me a once over, some shots (I need more) and told the people helping me that I am very healthy! My Mama is what you people call a MinPin mix, but I don't know who my Daddy was. I can be a little shy until you get to know me and then I'm good!! I sure would like to have a furry sister who can teach me the ropes. I still need a couple of more shots, a microchip and to be neutered, BUT I can go to my forever home as a foster-to-adopt until all that's done. If you're looking for a handsome young guy, that's me! ♥
►Hi, my name is Wallen and I am still waiting for my furever home and I don't know why? Doesn't anyone want to give me a chance? I promise to love you! You see, I came from a not-so-good situation and that makes me sad but I LOVE my foster parents and siblings. I know I am a bully breed but I am no bully! Once I trust you, I will love you forever. And honestly, just a few treats and I'm yours! I am learning manners with a really cool guy named Jeff. He says I am a good boy. My doggie doctor said I am healthy and have no little wormy things in my heart. I'm neutered, microchipped, and on heartworm prevention. Sometimes I get itchy skin, but my foster family gives me some medicine so it gets all better really quick. Well, enough about me - What ya think? Maybe you want to meet me? I hope so. ♥
►We’re Gunny, Gibbs and Panda and we were abandoned at just 1-week-old. We went without food for almost a whole day and you know us little guys need to eat. We were so young and scared of this really big world but some really nice ladies came and got us. I think they are called rescues and boy did they save us! A homeless doggy mom, who had just finished raising her kids, accepted us as her own and nursed us! We are now 10-weeks-old, current on age appropriate shots and eating all by ourselves. We’ll be neutered and microchipped. No one really knows what kind of puppies we are but we're super cute! Everyone tells us that so we know it's true. ♥
◄My name is Tyson because my foster mom says I was a fighter and a champ. You see, I was itchy, had no hair and something called Demadex Mange. After some vet care, medicine, TLC, good food and cool baths, I’m feeling and looking so much better. All of my hair is almost back and I hardly itch at all. I’m only 5-months-old and I love playing with my foster siblings. I love my foster humans and they all tell me I am such a good boy. It's not hard to be good now that I feel great. I love my foster family but it's time that I find my very own family. Could that be you? I love to play so I’d love having a furry sister and fenced yard, so we can run and play. I'm a pretty mellow guy so maybe you'll give me a chance? ♥
◄My name is Gypsy because I was found as a stray along with my pups. I am about 2-years-old and a really good Mama. I cared for my babies in a foster home and went to the doggy doctor where I got a clean bill of health. I finally got them to eat on their own, but then four more orphaned babies came in who needed me, so I helped them, too. Now they are all doing well and my work as a mother is done. It's time for some "me" time and my very own family. I like to hang out with my other dogs but I would be ok by myself, too. I'm not a big gal and wouldn't take up too much space. I am heartworm negative, spayed and vaccinated and ready to be your girl. ♥
◄My name is Tigger! My foster mama named me that because she said I’m kinda goofy. I don't know what that means, but all I know is that she tells me I am a very good boy and very smart, even though I am silly sometimes. I know how to sit, down, sit pretty, army crawl and a couple of other things I won't say so they will be a surprise! I love my furry foster siblings and I love any humans, too. I think they're great. Especially when they're rubbing on me and giving me treats. I went to the vet and I’m super healthy. I’m neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. I sure would like a fenced yard so I can do my zoomies when I want. I'm still a youngin' at about 2 to 3-years-old so I like to play! I wouldn't mind a fur sibling, but I'm ok by myself if you like to have fun and go on adventures with me. ♥
►Hi, my name is Nacho and I’m the handsome guy you saw on the May 2024 cover! I am around 3-years of age and even though I’m considered a bully breed mix, I am definitely no bully. In fact, I love hugs and always try to be the bestest boy! My current goals are getting someone to throw the ball for me, locating yummy treats for my belly, and finding a loving forever family. I’m in a foster home right now and have three furry step-siblings, which is a lot of fun. One of them makes a weird noise, kinda like a meow, but that's ok with me. I’m a pretty chill guy, already house-trained and leash-trained. I am also vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. My people told me I have heartworms, but that I shouldn’t worry because they will make me all better and, if someone wants to adopt me, they will pay for the rest of my treatments. Yay, for you and me! My foster mom says I am super sweet and she knows I am going to make someone really happy. I’d be good with or without a fur sibling (but no puppies or small dogs), and my paws are crossed with hopes that you want to meet me. ♥
Hi, I’m Cookie Dough the Calico. Luckily, I was rescued by a young girl who found me when I was in need of medicine for a respiratory infection and she got me the help I needed. I’m spayed, up to date on vaccinations and flea treatments. I’m now about 4-months-old and I get along great with my foster puppy/dogs/kittens/cats and even the human kids! If you would like to meet me, send a text to my Adopt-An-ANGEL foster mom, Jess, at 910-512-3142. For info, updates and upcoming adoption events, please visit us online at www.facebook.com/adoptanangelnc.
I am sponsored in honor of all the wonderful foster mommies and daddies who care for homeless animals.
Hi there, my name is Millo (A366280) and I’m an American Bulldog with the most handsome face! When I arrived at the shelter I had an ear infection, but my ears have been treated and they are healing up nicely. At 7-years-old, I’m the sweetest boy who enjoys being with people and playing in the shelter’s fenced-in yard. I’m looking forward to being your bestest companion and giving you lots of love. Won’t you come meet me? I’m at New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. ◄I’m Beuford, a German Shepherd puppy boy who is friendly, playful and affectionate. I am full of energy and curiosity, and I’m always up for an adventure. At my young age, I will need a patient and caring family who’ll dedicate the time to train me and help me learn how to be the bestest boy. If you have German Shepherd experience and a fenced-in yard, let's meet soon!! ♥
◄If it’s a loving girl you want, pick me! I’m affectionate and loyal and I love to cuddle up to my favorite humans. My name is Beatrix and I’m a mixedbreed girl, about 8-years-old. I’m hoping to find a home where I can spend my golden years with lots of cuddles. I get along well with other dogs, but if you have one, bring him or her with you for a meet and greet. I’ll be so happy to see you! ♥
▲I’m a sweet little girl named Moe who loves to lay around and watch the world go by. I am very curious about my surroundings and I love to follow you around just to see what you are doing. At a mere 1-year-old, I am spayed, vaccinated, litterbox-trained and current on flea and tick prevention. I am friendly to other cats, too. Won’t you please hop in the car and come meet me today? ♥
►Hello! I’m a 2-year-old Boxer mix girl named Mabel. I came in as a very underweight stray, but I’m now at a healthy weight and feeling great! I love to play with toys and can be a little shy at first, but I do warm up quickly. I am spayed, vaccinated and current on heartworm and flea prevention. Come meet me and bring your dog if you have one! ♥
◄I’m a brindle Pit Bull boy named Draco and I’d love to meet you! I enjoy being with people and I love to run and play. I’m eager to find my forever home so that I can shower my new family with love and kisses! At 3½-years-old, I weigh 65 pounds and am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. If you already have a dog, bring him or her along with you for a meet and greet! I might be the perfect fit for your family, so I hope you’ll be visiting soon. ♥
The shelter is currently open Monday through Friday from 10am to 2pm and closed on Saturday and Sunday.

◄I’m a beautiful 1-year-old girl named Kamille! I’ve had kittens in the past and you can tell because I am so loving. I’m a bit of a coulch potato and I just love to lay around with you. I get along well with children and other cats and I am spayed, litterbox-trained, vaccinated and current on flea and tick prevention. ♥
I’m a gem of a boy named Ghost (A488340) and I’m looking for my happily ever after with you! My previous owner abandoned me and I ended up here at the shelter. My ideal family is one who will burn off my energy with walks and playtime, and then have cuddle sessions with me on the couch! I take food gently from your hands and I’m doing very well with basic training. At just 2-years-old, I’m a Pit Bull boy who is neutered and vaccinated. Let’s meet at New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For more information, call 910-798-7500. Oh, and be sure to bring your kids and any other dogs you may have with you, too!
I am sponsored by Robyn Davis in loving memory of Lou.
Hi friends, I’m a darling Beagle boy named Alvin! I am house-trained, a lover of food, I enjoy walks and wandering the back yard, and I get along with every person or dog I meet. I like my cuddles and enjoy being with people. I have a sweet disposition and, although there are no children in my foster home, I would probably love them, too. I’m about 9-years-old but boy, do I still have some energy! I have had to slow things down a bit because I am going through heartworm treatment, but that is going really well. I know it's hard for an older dog to get adopted, but I promise you I have more years left in me and am quite the spunky guy! Please consider giving me a chance by calling my friends with RescueConnect at 910-302-7290. I’d love to meet and show you why I’ll be your most treasured companion.
I am sponsored in loving memory of Karen Merrill, tireless rescue volunteer and special friend of Beagles everywhere.
◄▲Just look at us cutie pies! We’re almost twins! We are brothers who are 4-months-old. My name is Padre (I’m pictured on the left) and this is my brother, Pinto (pictured on the right). We’re looking for a home. We’d like to be together, but we aren’t insisting on it. We are both gray and white and usually gray cats are popular, so you ought to come to meet us soon. We are both sweet and playful and would be the perfect addition, or additions, to your family. ♥
▲We are Lucky and Logan, sisters who were adopted together, lived together and then we were returned together. We’re only 6-months-old! That’s a lot of change in a short life isn’t it? Our adopter took very good care of us – in fact we’re rather spoiled. But, we would much rather be back in a home with space to run and play and a family who we can play with. We just hope that this time it is a real forever home! ♥
►My family had some personal problems and, for my own good, I came back to Cat Tails. When I originally left, I was tiny, but now I’m a very big girl - even though I’m only 5-years-old. Since gray cats are very popular and since I’m one of the sweetest cats you might ever meet and since I would be a fabulous addition to any family, I really hope I don’t have to spend a lot of time without a family to love. If you come for me, ask for Sheba.♥
►My name is Angel, or Tripod, or Trippy – I’ve had various names! I’m a beautiful seal-point Siamese mix girl who was found with an injured leg that had healed on its own. That leg had very poor circulation and caused lots of pain. It was amputated and now I feel so much better! I am shy and I prefer being the only pet in the house. I’ve slowed down a little now that I’m 7-years-old but I still have a lot of love to share. ♥
►I am not a Manx but what I am is a loveable and friendly kitten. When I first came to Cat Tails, everyone thought I was a Manx but then they found all of the scabs on my tail. I had been attacked by something and lost half of my tail. So now, I’m a 4-month-old brown Tabby who is short-tailed. I’m completely healed now, I’m current on age appropriate vaccinations, I’m already fixed and I’m ready for adoption. If you have play space, lots of toys, a heart full of love and you need a kitten, come ask for Captain. ♥
◄I’m just what everyone is looking for: a sweet, cuddly, 5-month-old, orange Tabby boy. Even my name, Rusty, is very popular for orange kittens. A lot of people want the smallest kitten they can find, but 5-months is really the best age for adoption because I’m fully vetted, neutered, vaccinated, etc. and I’m ready to go! But, you better hurry up because I’m just what everyone is looking for! ♥

►My name is Candie and I am as sweet as a sour patch kid. I am a young adult Shepherd mix who weighs about 50 pounds. I am a fantastic dog, but I do need someone who knows my breed. I walk well on a leash and seem to be house-trained. They do not recommend me with kids since I am a little bit jumpy and could knock them over. I am good with other dogs, but am fairly interested in cats so I should not live with one. I am a volunteer favorite because I am SOOO sweet. Please call Jill at 910-620-3783 to meet me or you may come see me on Saturdays at Petco on S. College Road in Wilmington. ♥
◄My name is Aurora and I’m a 10-month-old Pit Bull girl who is amazing. I am so friendly with people and other dogs and seem to do well with cats, if they can handle my energy. I am young, playful and have a sudden burst of energy here and there, but I do tire easily. I was adopted as a cute puppy and returned to the shelter as a lanky teenager - which is a common theme in area shelters. I am a pretty good walker and I seem to be housetrained already. If you would like to meet me, please call Jill at 910-620-3783 or come see me at Petco in Wilmington on Saturdays from 11:30am to 3:30pm. ♥
►SOLID WHITE CAT
ALERT! My name is Jupiter. I love to jump on your shoulders for a good snuggle. I am so fun! I am 1-year-old, and I am so friendly and social. I was abandoned at a feral cat colony and went through a trap/neuter/return program. They quickly learned I was no feral cat and deserved an indoor home. They say I am an absolute sweetheart and my forever home should be without other pets but kids are cool. Meet me at Petsense at 100 Shallotte Crossing Parkway in Shallotte or call Jill at 910-620-3783. ♥
►My name is Abbott and I am a young teenage kitty who is just 6-months-old. I came in through a TNR program, where I was trapped and neutered and set to be returned when they figured out I was friendly. So, they are trying to find me a home instead. I am a sweet, loving, playful guy who likes kids, dogs and other cats. Come out and meet me at Petsense in Leland. I’ll be living there until you come adopt me. ♥
►My name is Mandy. I'm 1-year-old, and I’m spayed, dewormed and have been treated for fleas. I am a dainty, orange female which is a RARE FIND! Did you know that most orange cats are boys? I was transferred from Brunswick County Animal Services along with my 3 brothers and they've been adopted. Now, it's my turn to find my loving furever home. I'm definitely what you'd call a "Cat's Cat". I will thrive with a companion cat (male or female). I'm submissive and will not have any behavior issues. My foster home has a submissive adult male and female and I play with both of them. So if you're looking for a companion for your cat - I'm that cat! I'm friendly, loving and affectionate and very playful at times. I might be a little shy and timid at first, but as soon as I trust you, I will make a great addition to just about any home. I have never been around children or dogs, so that's unknown. If you are interested in adopting me, text Melinda at 910-471-6909. ♥
►My name is Harlow and I was rescued from the streets along with my mom and my sister. I am shy at first but when I get to know you, I become playful and adventurous. I am good with kids, but would like to be an only cat. I am not real sure about dogs either. I want to live inside - no more mean streets for me. Please come see me at PetSense in Shallotte. I will be living there until you come get me. ♥

Houser Attorney at Law
We are Sage and Mint, 3-month-old brothers who look exactly like our pretty mom who just got adopted! We are both gray tabby on top and white underneath, with the most gorgeous eyes ever and check out our adorable, long white whiskers that curl downward. We both have the sweetest, laid-back personalities, just like our mom. We’ve been dreaming of being adopted together so we can take our kitten tumbling matches to the next level and always curl up on the same warm lap for a nap. We promise to take turns on your lap, of course! There are so many kittens in our local rescues, so please consider adopting a pair, and please consider us. We promise you won’t regret it! To meet us, please call or text Cat Adoption Team at 910-599-2755. You can also send an email to catilm@earthlink.net or message our friends on Facebook @CatAdoptionTeamNC.
We are sponsored by Danny and Lisa Merritt in memory of all their fur babies waiting at the Rainbow Bridge.
Hello out there, I’m Valentina! I’m one of the newest girls at the shelter and I’m also a tripod! Yup, that’s right, I’m a three-legged pup! I am full of energy, snuggles and love. I enjoy playing with all of my toys, I love to run around chasing my tennis ball, and I especially love showering you with all of the cuddles! At 9-months-old and 34 pounds, I’m a Pit Bull mix with a lot to learn, but I’m as smart as a whip and ready for all the new adventures headed my way. Come on over and meet me! I’m a little angel and you will not be disappointed. Paws Place is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 2pm and there is no appointment necessary. HUSKY HALFWAY HOUSE FOUNDATION
I'm Glacier and I've been waiting 4 long years to find my forever home. I’m a bit of an escape artist and I absolutely hate being alone and being crated. I dream of finding a home where someone can spend all their time with me. Maybe a retired couple who knows how to speak Husky? That sounds perfect. I’m happiest being the only dog in the household. I’ve got a bit of sass in me and my care team calls me a land shark, but that’s what makes me, well, me! Even with all my quirks, I’m a big softie at heart. I’m goofy, affectionate, and love being lazy - just as long as I’m not left alone. Sunshine and cozy spots are my jam. I’m also pretty food motivated, and I think playing "catch me if you can" is just the best game ever. If you’re the one who can love me just as I am, please put in an application. I’m ready to find my forever home and finally get the happy ending I’ve been dreaming of! My team transports all over the U.S., so my new home could be anywhere (except Hawaii or Alaska). Visit www.huskyhalfwayhouse.org/adopt and fill out an application. For more info, text 918-618-7070 or send an email to huskyhalfwayhouse@gmail.com. ♥
CAROLINA BASSET HOUND RESCUE
Are you looking for a pair of All-Stars to join your home team? Look no further than us! I’m Fenway and I’m bonded with Wrigley. We are more Beagle than Basset, but CBHR took us in because we are so darn cute. We might be named after ballparks in two very different cities, but we are a matched set if there ever was one. Where Wrigley goes, I follow and vice versa. We are great snuggle buddies and perfect pups for a family who enjoys lots of activities. We love to play with toys and our favorite game is watching our foster people pick up and put away all our toys (so we can pull them back out again). We are house-trained and like to ride in the car. We get along great with everyone we’ve met so far. Our fosters haven’t observed us around kiddos, but they feel we would do well with them. Our foster parents take us and our canine foster brothers to doggie daycare, and we love it! We come home exhausted after romping and playing with the many friends we’ve made there. If you are looking for a fine pair of Hounds, you will have won the World Series with us! We are the sweetest! To adopt us or another Basset, please call 888-909-2387 or visit us online at www.cbhr.com. ♥
RUSSELL RESCUE OF THE CAROLINAS
My name is Poppy. I am a 2-year-old female Jack Russell mix who weighs 20 pounds. I came to rescue when my family decided that they had too many dogs to care properly for us all. I love to lay on the couch and have my belly rubbed. I am good with other dogs, although I may prefer to eat my dinner alone. I need introductions to people as I can be wary of new people in my home (I typically warm up fast if you give me scratches). I am spayed, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. You must have a secure fenced in backyard to adopt me. I am good with children over 3-years-old, I walk well on a leash, and I’m crate-trained. If you are interested in me, submit an application at www.russellrescuecarolinas.com. Email RussellRescueNC@gmail.com, call 910-821-3504 or visit www.facebook.com/russellrescuecarolinas for info. ♥
FREEDOM GERMAN SHEPHERD RESCUE
I am Duke, a wellmannered fellow who was taught right from wrong early in my life and they say I am a joy to foster. I am intelligent, playful, fun-loving, and smart - a German Shepherd through and through! I am 5-years-old, 62 pounds, housetrained, crate-trained, and very sexy. I take things in stride. Nothing you humans do shocks or scares me. I am supertrainable. I will do anything for a ball and will totally keep my focus on it. You could easily teach me scent work for the fun it would bring us. Because of my need for exercise, a fenced yard may be required. I also like squeaky toys, stuffed toys and rope toys. In fact, I haven’t met a toy I didn’t want to fetch or carry around. While I am good with other dogs and respect cats, it is my human companions that I dote on and want to play with. I live with a female German Shepherd and a fragile 18-year-old cat in my foster home, and we get along fine. I have spent time with small children and did very well with them. I am exceptional and have an energy level to match. Couch potatoes need not apply! If I could be a member of your family, complete an application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org and an adoption coordinator will be assigned to you. Please call 919-670-5905 or email info@freedomgsrescue.org. ♥
I’m Polly Paws, an elegant older adult cat with a stunning, thick coat of fur that showcases my timeless beauty. Despite my slightly timid nature, I have a heart full of love and a strong desire for attention. It may take a little time for me to warm up, but once I do, I’m a devoted and affectionate companion. I enjoy the gentle company of those who understand my shy demeanor and who can provide me with the comfort and reassurance I need. If you're looking for a loving, loyal friend who will appreciate your kindness and patience, I’ll be the perfect addition to your home. I came to Friends of Felines with infected paws, hence the name Polly Paws. I also had a lot of bad teeth but I’ve had a full dental with several teeth being pulled. At 6 to 7-years of age, I’m in good health. Since I had a rough life of living outside trying to survive, I would be content in a quiet home with a lap to crawl up on. If you are interested, please apply at www.friendsofelines.org/adopt and click on the Adoption Application tab on the lower right corner. For info, you may contact my foster by calling 910-232-7741.
I am sponsored by Greenwood Pet Camp in memory of Duke.
Hi there! I'm Anchovy, the LAST OF THE FISH LITTER! At just 7-months-old, I'm still a tiny fish in this big pond, but I'm growing faster than you can say 'fish food'! I’m a Shepherd mix girl with floppy ears and a wagging tail, and I'm ready to dive into the sea of life and explore every coral reef and kelp forest that comes my way. I may be named after a tiny fish, but my heart is as big as the ocean, and I can't wait to to swim through life's currents with my forever family. If you're looking for a bubbly companion to splash around and have fun with, come meet me, Anchovy! I’m at Paws Place and no appointment is necessary. Visiting hours are on Tuesday - Saturday from 10am to 2pm. You can also call 910-845-7297 or email info@pawsplace.org with any questions.
I am sponsored in honor of Bunny Singleton, a former rescue pup who was adopted in 2018 and has been living the good life ever since.
◄Hi there! I’m Oriana (A055221), a friendly and fun girl who is ready to make your life so much happier! Come visit and watch my tail wag as you greet me at my kennel door, then take me into the play area for some cuddle time. I’m a 2-year-old Pit Bull Terrier girl, red and white in color. I’m spayed and heartworm positive, but please don’t let that stop you from adopting me, they are totally treatable! ♥
◄A long-haired seal point beauty is waiting right here for you - it’s me! I’m quite bewildered by my presence at the shelter and I’m ready to be in a home again. My name is Monkey (A057365) and I’m a 5-year-old girl who has been here since August 12.
I’m spayed and ready to go, so please hurry on over! ♥
◄Everyone who meets me says, ‘What a handsome boy he is!” It must be my vibrant orange and white fur and my tangerine-colored eyes that blow them away. I’m a 4-month-old sweetheart and as you can see from my photo, I love to engage with folks and be given attention. It’s a mystery why I’ve been sitting here since August 5, but maybe I’ve just been waiting for you to read about me and come get me! My ID number is A057277, but I hope you’ll think of a great new name for me on the ride over here! ♥
►I hope you’ll look into my soft, brown eyes and see the devoted friend you’ve been searching for! My name is Sam (A054846) and I could really use a friend as I’ve been at the shelter waiting for a family since May. I’m just 4-years old and heartworm positive, but they can be treated. Save me, and I promise to save you right back! ♥
◄Summer has come and gone and Fall is fast approaching, and I’m still waiting for a family! My name is Frankie (A055713) and I’m a 5-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound boy who has been here since April. Is it because I have heartworms? If you save me and treat them, my newly healthy heart will be filled with love for you - my hero - forever. ♥
Open Monday through Friday: 8am to Noon and 1pm to 5pm
Open Saturday and Sunday: Noon to 4pm
Please Adopt! WE’RE OVERCROWDED AND NEAR CAPACITY.
◄If you think I’m an adorable looking kitten then you should come to the shetler - there are lots and lots of adorable kittens here just like me! We are all searching for loving homes and I would love nothing more than for you to give me one. I’m a 12-week-old Tabby boy and my ID number is A057163 I’ve been here since July, so please hurry! ♥
My name is Milo and I am a 3-year-old Shepherd mix. I am a chubby fella who is a happy-go-lucky goofball. I seem to do well with kids and dogs, but bark at cats. I would love a home with someone who knows my breed. I would do great if I had a fenced in yard. I would love to be with people who would let me lay at their feet while they watch TV. I love my people and would make a great companion. I seem a little sensitive and being homeless has not been easy. Please call my Adopt-An-ANGEL foster mom, Jill, at 910-620-3783 to meet me or come see me at Petco in Wilmington on Saturdays from 11:30am to 3:30pm. For info, updates and upcoming adoption events, please visit us online at www.facebook.com/adoptanangelnc.
I am sponsored by Ocean Grill and Tiki Bar in Carolina Beach and in loving memory of Bess and beach dogs everywhere.
Hi, everyone! I’m a friendly Pit mix girl who was found at a truck stop as a stray. No one has come looking for me, though, so I’m hoping to soon be adopted into a new family! At 6 to 7-years of age, I love to play but I also enjoy relaxing and laying out in the sun. Toys are plentiful here, but really I’d rather just hang out with the humans and get attention and pettings. I’d love to meet you, so please visit and bring your dogs and kids with you, if you have them. My ID number is A490025 and I can be found at New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For more information, call 910-798-7500.
I am sponsored by Nina Voltaire and Ben Salasko in loving memory of Pook.
Hi there, I’m Duke, a 5-year-old Black Lab mix. I’m house-trained and friendly with kids and other dogs, but I can be a bit timid at first. It’s thought that some people in the past were not very nice to me. I’m looking for a different sort of person, one who is patient with a big, soft heart. I enjoy going for walks and playing in the water, and I’d love a fenced yard for exercise and playtime. Please visit me at Pender County Humane Society. We could be a perfect match! For visiting hours or any other info, please call 910-259-7022.
I am sponsored by the Furry Friends Re-sale Shop in honor and memory of all the animals who've passed through the doors of Pender County Humane Society.

I'm Mickey! I was surrendered to the shelter for no apparent reason (because I'm wonderful)! I am around 1-year-old, 22 pounds, neutered, heartworm negative, and current on all vaccines. I do well in a crate (after some short grumbling since I'd RATHER be with my people). I am housetrained and good with small kids and cats! I am a little intimidated by large dogs and could use some guidance on interactions with other dogs my size - a family with some dog experience to help me get settled would be ideal for me. For more info, please fill out an application at www.rescueconnectnc.com or call RescueConnect at 910-302-7290 to schedule a meet and greet with me.
I am sponsored by Cape Fear Spay/Neuter Clinic. Thank you!
DB PLUMBING, INC.
I’m a beautiful Shepherd mix pup named Ariel! I came to CARE with an injury which left me with permanent coordination and balance challenges. I may fall down a little more or have a few more challenges getting up, but this does not stop me from playing and running with my puppy friends. While I try hard to be a good girl, my condition can result in an accident here and there but a good routine and lots of yard space could be a big help. I’m in need of a loving home, with a yard and hopefully other dogs or kids to play with! To meet me, call 910-256-2624 or email carewilmington@yahoo.com.
I am sponsored by Atlantic Animal Hospital who supports Coastal Animal Rescue Effort (CARE).
►I'm going to start off saying - my name is Grace and I have a problem. The problem is that I am not allowed to live in a lot of places. Why? Because I am so majestic! Seriously, I am a Malamute/ Husky/Grey Wolf mix. I need a place that I can hang out and not get in trouble for being there. My foster mom and I have a great relationship. I'm a real sweetie and I love kids. I am current on my vaccinations, spayed, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I've been in rescue going on 3-years! Don’t get me wrong, I love my foster mama so much but I need to have a family of my own. I prefer a home with kids because I love when they lay down with me on the floor and watch TV. I don't care to hang out with other dogs and I certainly don't like cats. But, if you really want me to ‘grace’ you with my presence (see what I did there), we need to make sure I'm allowed in your county and that you are familiar with my breed. So, who's ready for a big girl like me? If you’re interested in meeting me, please contact my foster mom and she will find out if I am allowed to live in your county. ◄BOOP, my name is Hope! I am a sweet, rambunctious girl who loves treats and toys and I love to give hugs. A nice couple found me on the side of the road and helped me get healthy. My foster mom has had me for almost a year. I love her for taking such good care of me, but I'm really looking for someone who can play with me and maybe even take me places. I love to go for rides in the car, as long as it’s not to the vet. I'm approximately 3-years-old, vaccinated, spayed, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I'm a Treeing Walker Hound so I have a big voice and I’m not afraid to use it. Are you looking for a loving friend with energy? I'm your girl! Make sure you have plenty of stuffed toys for me to rip up because that’s my second favorite thing after riding in the car. If you would like to meet me and see if I’d be a good fit for your family, contact my foster mom by emailing roseysweezers7@aol.com. ♥
◄Well, I'm not El Chapo but you can call me El Chaco I am my brother's keeper (he’s pictured below). When our dad passed away, I knew that it would forever be my job to watch over my brother, Wolfie. Truth is, I get a little nervous when we are separated (let's keep that between us). Anyway, we have been with our foster mom for 2-years now and Wolfie and I just want to have a place of our own. I don’t really care much for other dogs besides my brother, but Wolfie would play with another dog. We are such good boys and we have a lot of love to give. We are vaccinated, neutered, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. We love being outside and because we have such thick fur and we even like it when it’s cold outside. Wolfie and I would love to be a part of your family. If you’d like to meet us, please email our foster mom at roseysweezers7@aol.com. ♥
►What's up! My name is Wolfie (because I kinda look like one). My brother, Chaco, and I have been in rescue for almost 2-years. He’s pictured above. I love my foster mama but my brother and I would really like a yard to run around in and a couch to cuddle on. I love being outside and I love my sloth stuffed animal (I take it everywhere with me). We have a lot of fur because we are Husky/Shepherd/Lab mixes. My brother and I have to stay together because we are bonded and both depend on each other. We have never been separated and don't want to start now! We used to live with our dad but he passed away and someone took us to the shelter. We were so scared there. Our foster mom took us home and we are much happier now. We are both 5 to 6-years-old, vaccinated, neutered, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. We are so ready for a family of our own. Do you have enough love for us both? To meet us, contact our foster mom by emailing roseysweezers7@aol.com. ♥
