W

E L C OM E T O P A W S W I L D N I G H T

We’re honored to share this night with you and express our mutual goal to help animals. Some of you are long-time supporters, some have recently joined the PAWS family, and some are learning about us for the first time. We appreciate every one of you. Your generosity here, at PAWS Wild Night, means everything to the thousands of animals who will arrive at our doors homeless, injured, and orphaned. You will see the faces of these dogs, cats and wild animals all around you - animals who might not have a second chance at life without you being here tonight. These animals cannot speak for themselves and deserve our protection. Thanks to all of you, they are safe and have a voice. In the PAWS Giving Gallery, you’ll see examples of the life-saving work that donors like you made possible in this past year. We hope you’ll be inspired, as we are every day, by the stories of animals and people who were served by PAWS. Over the course of the evening, the support you pledge will have immediate and tangible results – a warm bed to comfort a homeless dog; enrichment activities to teach orphaned bears how to survive in the wild; classes to educate youth about compassion for all living things. With your generosity tonight, we’ll not only continue to serve our community with happy adoptions to local families and rehabilitation of Northwest wildlife, but grow our national – sometimes international impact on the welfare of dogs, cats and wild animals. On behalf of all who will benefit, thank you for your investment and support. Thank you for making a difference. Now let’s get started on making this a Wild Night to remember! Warmly,

Annette Laico Chief Executive Officer

Leslie Chandler President, Board of Directors 5

AWS GIVING GALLERY

We could tell you about the dramatic rescue transfers of homeless dogs and cats from disaster zones to the PAWS Companion Animal Shelter. We could explain how the five yearling bears at the PAWS Wildlife Center are being readied for release this spring. We could write all about the fourth graders who can’t wait for our PAWS Education Team to visit their classroom each week.

Or...we can show you. Our show-and-tell, multi-media Giving Gallery lets you listen, see, feel and completely immerse yourself in the work of PAWS. You'll even get a chance to ask our veterinarians, rehabilitators, naturalists, trainers, and educators about the feats they perform every day on behalf of the animals and people served by PAWS. As you walk through the Giving Gallery, you’ll have a simple bid sheet to pledge $50 gifts to fund critical needs within the three pillars of PAWS: companion animals, wild animals and education. Janet Straus and Kit Raney have generously pledged to match the first 100 gifts to the Giving Gallery.

UND-A-NEED You can be their voice. Tonight, you can rewrite their stories.

Like Randall's story. In October 2017, Randall came to PAWS as a stray cat. He was adopted but returned after three months. His adopters exhausted every option to introduce him to the resident cats, but he wasn’t interested. Randall is incredibly intelligent and like a lot of cats, his boredom made it difficult for him to show his sparkling personality in the shelter. We enrolled him in our Cat Pawsitive Training Program and moved him to PAWS Cat City where he could have a colony room to himself. The training program utilizes positive, reward-based training. Using clicker training, positive behaviors are reinforced. PAWS staff and volunteers help cats gain confidence. Tonight, you will save lives. Your support during Fund-a-Need will deliver care to help thousands of animals, just like Randall. The auctioneer will take bids at the following levels: $25,000

$10,000

$1,000

$500

$5,000 $250

$2,500 $100

Your gift during Fund-a-Need is 100 percent tax-deductible and eligible for most employer matching gift programs.

YOU make a difference in the lives of animals.

HANK YOU!

General Auction Rules Each participating bidder agrees to these auction rules: • Upon entry, each guest will be given a bid number. • Top bidders have two options for purchasing auction items: Pre-pay: Guests may pre-pay for their purchases, auction winnings and donations by participating in Auctionpay. By providing a credit card at Registration, guests authorize PAWS to charge their purchases and donations to that credit card. All purchased items will be given to guests at Check-out. An itemized receipt can be provided upon request. Pay at the end: Guests who elect not to participate in Auction Pay must pay for all purchases, auction items, and donations at the end of the event by going to Guest Check-Out. At that time, they will be provided with an itemized receipt detailing all purchases and donations. Guests will be asked to pay by check or credit card before leaving the venue. • All purchases are final and there will be no exchanges or refunds on items unless otherwise noted. • Bidder can pay by currency, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express. Please make checks payable to PAWS. PAWS is a 501(c) (3) charitable organization and payments are tax deductible as a charitable contribution to the extent provided by law. Normally, the amount paid above the fair market value of an item is deductible as a charitable contribution. Please consult your tax advisor for appropriate deductibility. • PAWS is grateful to all of our donors and bidders who submit matching gift requests to their companies. All Fund-A-Need donations, as well as any amount paid above the fair market value of an auction item, are considered charitable donations and can be matched by participating companies. All auction items and donations must be paid in full by the bidder; amounts matched by your company cannot be accepted as payment toward your auction purchases. Continued on next page 41

• Please note any restrictions, limitations, sizes and expiration dates before making a bid. PAWS has attempted to describe and catalog all items correctly, but all items are offered “as is, where is.” PAWS neither warranties nor represents, and in no event shall be responsible for the correctness of descriptions, genuineness, authorship, provenance or condition of the items. • Reservations for trips and vacation accommodations must be mutually arranged with the donor unless otherwise noted. Tickets in travel packages are for coach class unless otherwise noted. No refunds will be allowed on travel packages for cancelled tickets and/ or accommodations. • Unless otherwise noted, all goods and services must be claimed and used within one year of the auction date. • PAWS reserves the right to add or withdraw, without notice, items to or from the auction. • Acknowledgement by the auctioneer of the top bid is a legal contract to purchase that item. • No statement made in these Auction Rules or made orally at the auction or elsewhere shall be deemed such a warranty for tax purposes or fair market value. Items have not been appraised unless otherwise noted. • Each person issued a bid number (bidder) assumes all risks and hazards related to the auction and items obtained at the auction. Each bidder agrees to hold harmless from any liability arising from PAWS, its elected and appointed officials, members and employees, the auctioneer(s), sponsors, and/or volunteers connected with the auction.

Almost Live Auction Rules • To bid in the Almost Live auction, simply write your bid number on the bid form located in front of the item on the table. You may bid by writing your bid number on the form opposite the amount you wish to bid. We ask you to press hard as you are making three copies.

U C T I ON R U L E S

• You do not have to take the next available bid amount, but may skip ahead on the form to find the amount you wish to bid. The next bidder must bid a higher amount than yours to be successful. • To guarantee that you are the successful bidder on an item, write your bid number opposite the amount labeled Buy It Now. Once you write your bid number on the Buy It Now line, the bidding on that item is concluded. • You may bid on any item in the Almost Live auction until the section is closed. An auction official will circle the top bid number and amount. You can determine whether you are the successful purchaser by looking at a copy of the Almost Live auction bid form that is left on the auction table after the section is closed. • Designation of the top bid is a legal contract to purchase that item.

Live Auction Rules • To bid in the live auction, hold your bid card up high with the number toward the auctioneer. The auctioneer acknowledges your bid by stating your bid number. • A bid acknowledged by the live auctioneer is a legal contract to purchase the item.

We invite you to bring your PAWS Pet Tag into the PAWS Companion Animal Shelter in Lynnwood to have your pet’s name engraved, with our compliments. Thank you for sharing your evening with us.
