A summer of success

for Club Braman and our members

THIS YEAR’S RECORD SUMMER HEAT has produced the hottest issue yet of the Club Braman Magazine! Over the following pages, we report on our presence at the 2023 Palm Beach International Boat Show with our special guest, President of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Martin Fritches, who enthusiastically rubs shoulders every year with our Club Braman members.

As always this past spring presented a multitude of high-caliber fun and exciting Club Braman events like Comedy Night, Casino Royale, Croquet, Bowlero, Shakespeare by the Sea, Rock Concerts, Science Center gatherings, a spring training baseball exhibition game between the Marlins and the Rays, a foray to the Mounts Botanical Garden and several of Palm Beach Symphony’s incredible performances at the Kravis Center. I welcome you to relive many of these with me in this issue!

My favorite part of our magazine is always our featured articles highlighting our members. This edition takes off with Aleksandra Efimova, who graces our cover and describes living the American dream with her latest entrepreneurial adventure, Golfabella.

Joining Alexandra is Andrew Kato, whose success with the Maltz Jupiter Theater is dramatic; Michele Kolsky Assatly’s fulfilling devotion to American Humane and the Pups4Patriots program; and the stylistic creations of Chiara Boni that continue to enamor Palm Beach fashionistas and socialites alike.

And who can resist a smiling Golden Retriever? Certainly not Jeff and Charlie Eagle who have made it their mission to train the best service dogs around. Finally, marvel at Alexander Krivosheiw’s incredible sculptures crafted of modern-age materials using centuries-old techniques.

Rounding out the issue are previews of several new models available at Braman Motorcars; the all-new BMW M2, Bentley Continental GT, MINI Cooper Countryman JCW, and the all-new Rolls-Royce Spectre EV. As for Porsche, this year marks the brand’s 75th anniversary and our members celebrated in style and welcomed both the Panamera Platinum Edition and new for 2024 Cayenne.

ROUND M2

2023 BMW M2

WHEN THE SECOND GENERATION of the 2 Series was launched two years ago, BMW’s entry-level sports coupe was met with equal parts praise and apprehension. The magnificent M240i was short on criticism, but long on alphanumerics; everyone anxiously awaited the arrival of the all-new M2.

The wait was worthwhile.

The hulking fender flares adorning both sides of the 2023 M2 square-off the proportions, suggesting a silhouette more akin to a rally racer rather than sports car. The styling is anything but subtle, a directive further clarified by the available Toronto Red, Brooklyn Gray, or striking Zandvoort Blue color palette.

At each corner sit wider wheels, now measuring 19 x 8 inches, with the rear two working to wrangle the 453 snorting horses corralled inside the 3.0 liter turbocharged engine. Though a sizable cohort will choose the 6-speed manual, when matched to the 8-speed automatic transmission the M2 dashes to 60 mph in under four seconds. Thanks to the standard Adaptive M Differential, power delivery remains constant and smooth no matter the road surface—exchanging the slippery nature of its forebear for industrial-strength adhesion.

True, the hot-rod 2 does directly take motivation from its M3 and M4 siblings. However, its shorter wheelbase translates into more lively dynamics. It is playful without losing competence—like a newly-appointed wunderkind CEO. BMW has crafted a willing dance partner content to let you lead while never missing a step. Should one put a foot wrong though, the standard M Compound Brakes quickly become the belle of the ball.

Of course, the M2’s ultimate limits will never be reached on the street—which is why more attention has been paid to practicality than in the past. Still the smallest of the litter, its

dimensions have matured and the interior has leapt into the modern era in terms of layout and technology.The seamless integration of the 12.3-inch digital dash and 14.9-inch main screen together house Apple CarPlay, in-car entertainment, and a wealth of performance data when in M1 or M2 modes. The front thrones are comfortable, headroom abundant, and rear seats more acceptable than ever.

In short, the still diminutive new M2 provides more. More power, practicality, and performance for those who waited to make its acquaintance. The time has finally come to discover just how much patience has paid off.

A PEEK BEHIND THE CURTAIN

IN AN AGE OF ENDLESS ON-DEMAND STREAMING entertainment, the persistence of the regional theatre is a positive delight. Perhaps nowhere else is there more a wellspring of relentless local support for live stage entertainment than Jupiter, Florida. A casual look at the rejuvenated street corner home to the Maltz Jupiter Theatre proves that reports of the regional theatre’s decline are greatly exaggerated—one must simply learn where to find the show.

Andrew Kato is proud to count himself a longtime “show business” disciple. Arriving in Jupiter from New Jersey at 13, he immediately discovered and joined what was then known as the Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre. Upon receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Florida State University, Andrew embarked upon a 14-year adventure on Broadway, which included over a decade as a Coordinating Producer for the annual Tony Awards.

Though a thousand miles away in body, Andrew’s heart never left the humble halls that bore the name of Jupiter’s favorite adoptive son. However ownership— and the building’s name—had both changed by 2005, and Andrew was approached by Milton and Tamar Maltz to return home and take the reins as Producing Artistic Director and Chief Executive of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. In the years since, Andrew has overseen his operating budget more than double, a loyal subscriber base increase by the thousands, and secured recognition as the only B+ rated operation in the Southern half of the United States by the League of Resident Theatres.

While the recent completion of a $42 million facility expansion contributed mightily, Andrew credits longterm success to his two guiding principles: talent and kindness. A successful producer knows their audience, and the more than 80 productions he has hand-selected have resulted in more than 6,800 regular supporters. The performances are highly varied; from Broadway classics like Chicago and Oliver! to groundbreaking new productions like Disgraced and Glengarry Glen Ross. However, Andrew’s personal favorites are those he believes will resonate most with the public no matter their acclaim. Above all Andrew keeps the Theatre’s mission at the forefront—to entertain, educate, and inspire the local community.

Every show is assembled from scratch, accentuating local performers over traveling troupes. This key element sets the Theatre apart and subtle interpretations ensure a unique experience for every performance. In addition to the quality of the productions themselves, the newly expanded Broadway-scale stage, education Conservatory, and 15,000 sq ft production center capable of fabricating any set or costume design imaginable, all play their parts in the success story. Each season, hundreds of talented performers arrive from across the country to personally meet with directors and audition for the upcoming season. Upon arrival, they’re met with a strong work

culture and the expectation to take responsibility for the energy they contribute. As Andrew says, drama is for the stage, not the wings.

A SIGHT TO SEA

2023 Palm Beach International Boat Show

WEST PALM BEACH’S understated skyline rose tall in the waning evening light. The setting sun and lengthening shadows played out their daily routine through the window behind the second deck bar of the 100’ luxury yacht, BW. The crown jewel of Worth Avenue Yachts’ display at the 2023 Palm Beach International Boat Show provided an opulent setting for an event fast-becoming an annual favorite of Club Braman members.

While the dozens of floating aquatic mansions on hand courtesy of more than 100 exhibitors are the main public draw, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Palm Beach provided select guests with an evening of unprecedented access. In addition to free range over the Benetti Tradition TriDeck yacht, styled and designed respectively by Francois Zuretti and Stefano Righini, attendees were invited to personally speak with RollsRoyce Motor Cars North America President

Martin Fritsches. Though the third occasion in which Mr. Fritsches has graciously participated, each feels meaningful and special. This year, even Mr. Stephen Grossman could be found enjoying himself amid BW’s palatial confines.

In between passed appetizers of tuna, shrimp, lamb lollipops, and watermelon salad, guests took the opportunity to sit, pass time with, ask questions of, and be delighted by Mr. Fritsches. While some wished to know more of the brand’s plan for EVs, others simply expressed their admiration for their transcendent transportation. Servers kept receding glasses filled with wine, champagne, beer, and water. All three decks were soon brimming with laughter and conversation, which mixed harmoniously with the marvelous music provided by live violinist Gigi. Her interpretations of both modern and classical pieces echoed soulfully throughout the metal and fiberglass of the surrounding vessels, eliciting the envious eyes of passerby. Though few precious hours in length, the memories many took home would last lifetimes.

Or, at least until next year.

NEW RELIABLE

2023 Bentley Continental GT

THE YEAR-OVER-YEAR assurance that Bentley’s Continental GT finds itself at the front of a crowded class of luxury grand tourers is similar to that of taxes and death. Maturing over the past two decades into an evermore competent and sophisticated vehicle, the current third generation somehow stands head and broad shoulders above those that came before. Power has of course increased, styling refined, materials upgraded, and its overall presence elevated; an approach emulating those of the most established luxury brands in the world—evolution over revolution.

As always, the 2023 line is split between the encapsulated coupe and effervescent convertible. The lone difference between the two being whether the driver prefers the moisture of their hair removed at home, or by way of wind on the way to their destination. In either case, the standard offerings take advantage of a 542-horsepower twin-turbocharged V8 which allows for bursts of supercar-like acceleration. Last year however brought the introduction of the GT Speed variant; blessed by the Crewe, UK crew with a fire-breathing 650-horsepower turbocharged 12-cylinder. So equipped, a Continental GT Speed will roar to extralegal speeds in a blink over three seconds thanks in part to the gummy traction provided by the allwheel drive system.

Yet speed remains secondary to style when it comes to Bentley’s most sporting offering. Each build provides the potential to become a one-of-one. In addition to the bevy of color, texture, and options packages already available, the new Blackline Package offered by the inhouse extraordinaries of Mulliner introduces blackedout trim and accents throughout the exterior. The scintillatingly sinister all-black 22-inch rolling stock completes the look.

While the advanced 12.3-inch touchscreen integrates Apple CarPlay and exacting direction via Google Earth Navigation, it can be concealed behind the dashboard for those who prefer the journey to the destination. Pertinent information is provided through the high resolution digital gauge cluster, and the optional 2,200watt 18-speaker Naim sound system is anything but. It is a rare instance for value to rise in direct correlation to cost—but despite its ubiquitous nature among those in the know, the Continental GT’s proposition is undoubtedly uncommon. The days of factory-offered engines depending on a dozen pistons are rapidly departing. Though many models have made their way into the marketplace over the past 20 years, far fewer feature something as special as the GT Speed. Before long, Bentley’s sublime sport coupe will no longer find itself among the list of life’s constants, but there’s still time to secure your place in history.

She believes all who have voluntarily risked their lives so we could live ours deserve the same comfort and unconditional love as those soldiers discovered on that night.

Michele has spent nearly two decades as one of Coldwell Bankers’ top-producing agents in New Jersey, with a mission centered on helping others find their happily ever after. Her passion, paired with a prodigious professional network, led to her decision in March of 2023 to bring her expertise–and rolodex–to American Humane. Rather than diluting its impact however, this practice has only elevated the number of forms The Ultimate Driving Machine can take.

The M Town Tour’s arrival at Braman BMW West Palm Beach earlier this year stood as testament that the concept is a successful one. The vehicles contributing the most to the murmurs of excitement rippling through the line wrapping around the corner of the dealership were none other than two all-new XM SUVs.

The brawny Bavarian brutes demanded attention with their aggressive designs draped in enigmatic metallic paint, subdued but sophisticated gold trim surrounding their grilles and windows, and undeniably powerful presence.

Their 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V-8s were each paired with electric motors boosting their total output to 644 horsepower while simultaneously providing 30 miles of exclusively electric driving range. A return of up to 18 miles-per-gallon while galloping at highway speeds is virtually unheard of for a vehicle of such size and strength.

Though five different M-models were present, including the evocative M3 and M4 Competition, most participants scurried to be one of the first to sample the XM’s 3.8-second sprint to sixty.

Participants could also elect to enter the first-ever electric vehicle to earn the M designation: the i4 M50. In a class all its own, the i4 M50 is a 536-horsepower sports sedan whose deft handling and inherent balance ensures that the evolving automotive landscape will never neuter driving excitement.

Club Braman invitees were welcomed to test up to three options; while in between bouts behind the wheel could dine on delectable

charcuterie boxes and refreshments. The 10-minute or more driving route featured a veritable tour-de-force of West Palm Beach, providing ample opportunity to explore a wide range of the cars’ breathtaking performance capabilities. Upon return, drivers and their guests could also spend time pouring over the technological and practical details alongside a knowledgeable M Town Tour representative.

The morning stood as another reminder that the most powerful letter in the automotive alphabet remains matchless—no matter the number of doors, pedals, or motors.

THE PARTNERSHIP OF PERFORMANCE & PRESTIGE

THE ALLITERATION AND ALLUSION are perfect when it comes to the 2023 Porsche Panamera Platinum Edition.

Platinum is one of the rarer elements found in the earth’s crust. Similarly, the Panamera is the extraordinary vehicle which deftly combines both practicality and velocity. As a noble metal, platinum has six naturally-curing isotopes and has been valued as high as $1,320 per ounce. Inside, Porsche’s Comfort Access technology allows for keyless operation, and all seats—including the 14-way adjustable driver and passenger—are heated. Available rear privacy glass protects from prying eyes, and the gloss black interior accents are a harmonious match. The GT Sport steering wheel however acts as the gateway between luxury and performance. It grants complete control over the road via the adaptive and adjustable air suspension. Marrying any soundtrack desired to the pilot’s whims is possible through the 14 Bose speakers dispersed throughout the cabin, along with seamless integration for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Platinum is another signature Porsche production—bringing together the most alluring of features available for a particular model. It’s a philosophy that reaches its full potential in the Panamera Platinum Edition.

STAYING SOUTH IN STYLE

AS COCO CHANEL APTLY STATED, there is a distinct difference between fashion and style. The hand-produced masterpiece represents the end game for Anthony—not only does it encapsulate everything he loves about his new home, it is a perfect portrayal of his company’s proposition.

75 YEARS OF DREAMS COMING TRUE

ON JUNE 10, 2023 automotive aficionados around the world united to celebrate the anniversary of the most iconic sports car brand of all time. 75 years ago, a dream drove Dr. Ferdinand Porsche to pursue the most divine driving experience possible. His vision became a reality, and now with millions of vehicles sold over the ensuing seven and a half decades, the brand bearing his name is still “Driven by Dreams”; the dreams of children inspired to success so they might one day own a Porsche; dreams of everyday drivers transforming their hobby into a career on the race track— even the dreams of suburban families searching for a mode of transportation that combines their need for practicality and desire for excitement in one.

Porsche West Palm Beach invited their most enthusiastic clients to celebrate each of these and more on a balmy

summer South Florida night. The rooftop bar Topside at the Beacon, situated on the picturesque Jupiter Inlet, provided an appropriately dream-come-true atmosphere for attendees. Eight sporty models sporting classic Porsche paint codes welcomed guests to the venue, and stood as testament that we all dream in color.

Charcuterie boards boasting an assortment of internationally-sourced meats and cheeses paired with tropical fruits, olives, and breads served to whet the appetite. Pita slices and chips could be coated with guacamole, smoked fish, spinach artichoke, or salsa dips and a slider station featuring cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, and special sauce slathered over delectable beef patties ensured none drifted off hungry.

A live DJ masterfully mixed a soundtrack to match the stunning scenery and Porschephiles were gifted badge-branded hats that would hopefully remain on top during a top-down spirited drive home.

In the years since Porsche’s debut both the company and South Florida have undergone many changes—though neither has lost what has always made them special. The view atop the Beacon has stood the test of time, similar to the sexy silhouette of a 911. If the past 75 years have been this enchanting, one can only dream of what might come next.

REALIZING THE AMERICAN DREAM IN PALM BEACH

THE PROMISE OF THE AMERICAN DREAM has long stood as a beacon of hope both within the United States and abroad. Its definition of fulfillment is as varied as those who seek it, but the premise remains— progress over stagnation, accountability over excuses, and hard work over hesitation. It’s a recipe attempted by an ambitious entrepreneur but perfected by few.

This past June marked the 30th anniversary since Aleksandra Efimova embarked on her journey toward

the American Dream. She spent her youth in Saint Petersburg, Russia training in classical dance and visual arts amid equally rigorous academic studies. However, her unrelenting mind for business was underserved in her home country. Aleksandra ultimately decided to make her way to the Western world—arriving stateside in 1993. While at Eastern Michigan University, she simultaneously pursued an International Business degree and the greatest gift America has to offer—entrepreneurship.

Aleksandra took up modeling to help pay her way through her first years of school; but her years of competitive ballroom dancing ultimately inspired her first business. Despite still learning the nuances of the English language, she began cold calling and approaching local boutiques to sell her RP Collection–a line of dance wear and handcrafted shoes sourced from one of the top factories in Moscow. The same goal setting, discipline, and resiliency she’d cultivated as an athlete was proving invaluable in her newfound professional career, and upon graduation she opened a storefront on the prestigious Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago. With a larger city, client base, and talent pool from which to recruit staff, Aleksandra’s business thrived—evolving from a wholesale to retail model whose wares could be found in over 650 stores and major dance companies around the world.

Dreams can sometimes be interrupted, however. Fortunately, the nightmare of the COVID-19 pandemic awoke Aleksandra to the opportunity to add a new vision to her business portfolio.

In January of 2021 she swapped the confines and complications of the big city for Palm Beach—quickly falling in love with Florida, and it’s unofficial favorite pastime: golf. Within weeks, she’d taken up lessons and found herself to be a natural. Unfortunately, finding the perfect combination of function and fashion for the links proved challenging. Clearly there existed a market gap begging for Aleksandra to once again take a full swing.

With her instructor’s assurance that dance and golf wear were not so different, Aleksandra founded her latest venture, Golfabella. The Italian-made line’s nine dresses are tributes to nine iconic holes. Each offer UPF protection, comfort, absorb moisture and repel odor—all essential components identified by the copious test panels and customer surveys Aleksandra conducted throughout her thorough market research. More women than ever now occupy executive suites, and are joining their male counterparts on the course; Golfabella’s brightly colored ensembles offer an alternative to the grayscale garb many professional women feel obligated toward, and even double as athleisure that can be worn away from the country club.

One of the secrets behind Aleksandra’s success has been her ability to think as a client. A DOGGED DEDICATION TO SERVICE

A LITTLE MORE THAN A DECADE AGO, one of Jeffrey Eagle’s early morning Flagler Drive jogs was shockingly interrupted by a violent commotion behind him. A fellow runner had been stricken by a wayward vehicle. The injury was clearly serious. His heart went out to the man and Jeff gave thanks to his lucky stars for making it home unscathed.

Several months later, Jeff and his wife Charlie were approaching the entrance to a local Publix when they encountered a woman with a service dog. Canine lovers and owners all their lives, the two struck up a conversation. The woman was a service puppy trainer, fostering the dog temporarily and helping it to socialize and learn its job.

When prompted as to how she found such a vocation, the woman explained that her husband was quadriplegic—the result of a tragic jogging accident that had happened along Flagler Drive only a few months prior.

Jeff and Charlie suddenly found their new life’s mission, and shortly after founded Genesis Assistance Dogs in early 2012. Working exclusively with Golden Retrievers, the Genesis training process is extensive and intensive; beginning at eight weeks and continuing through the ensuing two and a half years. During this period, not only are the puppies trained, socialized, and evaluated—so are their potential human matches.

The most crucial aspect of the program is introducing the puppy to—for lack of a better term—chaos. The more varied the dogs’ situations, the better prepared they are to focus on their work under potential duress. To wit, Jeff and Charlie have partnered with five puppy trainers across the state of Florida. For three to six month periods, each provides revolving conditions—from singles to couples to families with children and other pets—under which the puppies learn and hone their skills. The volunteer raisers also commit to their own weekly coaching and evaluation sessions by Genesis’ chief trainer. Being as most beneficiaries are mobility-impaired, whether from accidents or debilitative medical afflictions like muscular dystrophy or MS, the dogs learn to open and close doors and refrigerators, retrieve papers and cell phones from the floor, and more.

Potential recipients are also thoroughly vetted based on their home and work lives, personalities, and needs. Once matched, the duo then undergo a rigorous two weeks of instruction and practice lasting eight to ten hours a day.

However, the work continues even after placement, as Jeff, Charlie, and their network of trainers provide ongoing training and care for life. Though requiring upwards of $30,000 to complete, the entire process is funded through grants and donations with no passed through costs to recipients.

Despite its outward appearance, multiple Golden Retrievers, a Christmas tree, and Jeff’s 6’2 frame have all intermittently fit comfortably within the MINI’s considerable confines. The fact that the brand originally hails from Charlie’s native England is an added perk.

To date, Jeff and Charlie have taken delivery of close to a dozen vehicles from the Braman campus; and proudly coupled nearly as many dogs with their perfectly-paired companions, with each being a special event. Earlier this year however, they were granted an opportunity that elevated their mission from serendipitous to downright miraculous; the two brought together a freshly-graduated Genesis Assistance puppy and a local man who’d suffered a traumatic accident several years ago.

THE MIGHTIEST MINI

BIG PERSONALITY HAS LONG BEEN A BELOVED, if not ironic appeal of the MINI Cooper experience. The affable design, zippy powertrains, and array of color combinations available promise not only a reliable and fun mode of transportation—but a lifestyle. The introduction of the Countryman crossover represented a welcome, though satirical, variant; as it would prove, the larger the MINI, the greater the fun.

Representing the largest of the range, the Countryman naturally required the most power. When punched up with the notorious John Cooper Works package however, the 2024 MINI Countryman JCW is wonderfully wicked. The 2.0-liter turbocharged fourcylinder churns out more than 300 horsepower—every one of which can be heard through the signature JCW exhaust as the revs climb. The steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters control the eight-speed automatic transmission, which meets the road at all four corners thanks to standard all-wheel-drive.

The result is on-demand power and traction under any condition, as well as a blistering Porsche 718 Boxsterbeating sprint to 60 mph in only 4.9 seconds. Similar to the patterned scales of a venomous snake, the tasteful red accents of the JCW’s exterior serve as a warning to the sports car idling in the next lane at a stoplight. Even better, drivers can opt to bring the entire family—and their suitcases—along for the ride. Inside, headroom and legroom abound both in the front and rear and the trunk offers 16 cu ft of space, yet grows to an enormous 48 cu ft with the rear seats folded away.

It’s also a ride that will outlast most gasoline-powered competitors, as the Countryman JCW returns fuel economy well past 30 miles-per-gallon on the highway.

The interior layout retains the classic MINI stylistic flourishes, most pertinent being the huge circular center display. The overall fit and finish of the materials have vastly improved since the model’s introduction however. A Harman/Kardon stereo is available as well as an 8.8-inch touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay is standard. The three different trims—Classic, Signature, and Iconic—provide a wealth of color, material, and option package combinations.

Despite the larger chassis, the driving experience is undeniably MINI. No other crossover can move like the Countryman JCW, and those purposefully selecting this particular trim will appreciate the taut, sporty suspension and intuitive reflexes at any speed. The practicality and performance inherent to this package is unbeatable on both competitors’ dealership parking lots and the open road.

Though an ode to an iconic brand that has endured for decades, MINI may soon need to reconsider the moniker. There’s nothing diminutive about the value, performance, or outright personality their vehicles deliver. WHILE EVERY CLUB BRAMAN SIGNATURE EVENT is a can’t-miss celebration, this past May’s rendition was remarkably special.

Cinco de Mayo marked the moment as the grand ballroom of the Hilton Palm Beach Gardens was filled with merriment. An assortment of literal wall-to-wall attractions greeted guests in the form of slot machines, craps, roulette, and blackjack tables. The bar beckoned with the promise of two complimentary beverages while cash could command the most capital of choices.

A live music ensemble enthralled those eagerly awaiting their turn at the tables, at times upwards of three members deep. All

enthusiastically cheered on their peers who hoped to transform their $500 of courtesy chips into even more profit. Those who won big could exchange their winnings for additional entries into a raffle full of exciting prizes.

Before then however, it was time to acknowledge the evening’s honorees. One by one, previous Club Braman Magazine featured members arrived onstage to accept their personalized plaques starring their effusive articles. Rana Sebai shared her story of winning a complimentary trip to Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic, followed shortly by the “cosmic connector” herself, Lexye Aversa.

Bringing a dramatic conclusion to the night was the strongly anticipated sweepstakes of merchandise, gift cards, and culminating in the awarding of a Braman Night on the Town—whose winner was gifted a chauffeured ride to the restaurant of their choice in a lavish luxury vehicle; with dinner and drinks of course covered by Braman.

FORGING FORM & FUNCTION

ALEXANDER KRIVOSHEIW’S SCULPTURES echo his story. Individually the pieces appear incongruous, yet when taken as a whole, seamlessly weld into a masterpiece. An appreciator of artistry in many forms—from films to architecture and vehicles—it is fitting that Alexander’s life is also a product of an ever-evolving approach to hard work.

As an adolescent, Alexander’s parents noticed and nurtured his knack for constructing creative combinations of building blocks. By thirteen, he emerged as one of twelve selected from an international pool of hundreds to attend a prestigious school on the Grecian island of Crete. There, he carved marble deities for local churches, and within four years was apprenticing under mentors who boasted over three generations’ worth of sculpting knowledge.

However, traditional stonework was not the path Alexander would choose; opting instead to forge a different one—literally.

Currently Alexander works exclusively with metals— bronze, stainless steel, and aluminum. However, he relies on techniques and tools which trace their origins back hundreds of years to form these modern materials. His guiding aesthetic has changed over the course of his career, owing to his personal experiences, experiments, and emotions. With so much time and labor invested into every piece, they become periodic by nature; and as Alexander fulfills his original inspiration, he moves forward in a different direction.

Though inherently boundless, creativity can often be constrained in practice by physical space. The rapidly rising rents and seemingly shrinking studios of New York City, combined with the onset of COVID-19, eventually forced an evacuation to West Palm Beach.

Under the roof of a much larger warehouse, Alexander’s life and work both gained new and exciting depth.

Metal is typically flat and geometric; the antithesis of the organic movement Alexander endeavors to capture. However, through the process of compound forming, the formerly unyielding alloy transforms—gaining depth, volume, and concave or convex configurations. He began to simplify and blend his shapes, adding elegant details and removing inefficiencies to find the balance and flow he envisioned.

The marriage of function and form is one Alexander recognizes and appreciates more than most when it comes to his other lifelong love of luxury and exotic vehicles. Though preferring to observe the design before the badge, he has developed a particular affinity for the brand which has also applied an evolutionary approach to its distinct products: Porsche.

Alexander’s Cayenne is a chameleon defined by need; chauffeuring visiting collectors, transporting supplies and some of his smaller sculptures, and providing ergonomic bliss with intuitive controls and plenty of headroom for his over 6’ frame. With its sports car soul evident in its handling and acceleration prowess, the Cayenne represents an equity of performance and practicality— another perfectly-sculpted piece to Alexander’s professional and personal lives.

Archaic techniques applied to modern materials. Inorganic ore brought to life. A modern SUV delivering the traditional sports car experience.

All seemingly incompatible fragments—yet in the hands of an artist coalesce into a masterpiece. This contradictory roadmap has not only brought Alexander to his present, but also acts as direction for the future. His next era will combine all of the materials, processes, and styles he’s perfected into a new vision.

While whatever form those future sculptures take will be open to interpretation, there’s no doubt they too will fit flawlessly into his story.

The fruits of our labor just got even

IF LOOKS COULD THRILL

THE LATEST UPDATE TO PORSCHE’S venerable Cayenne SUV includes far more than a mild facelift. While the exterior underwent a few nips and tucks, the tires, suspension, and powertrain each received comparatively bionic enhancements.

Changes—both subtle and obvious—have been made to nearly every body panel. The high-definition Matrix design headlights and black lower fascia reminiscent of the 911 GT3 certainly stand out, but the new 31-inch diameter tires which broaden the SUV’s rugged stance make for the largest visual impact.

2024 Porsche Cayenne

Though the base model’s wheels have increased an inch in diameter, newly-standard PASM adaptive dampers, along with the aforementioned rubber, provide a more comfortable ride than the previous generation.

However, when it’s time for comfort to take a backseat, the same adjustable suspension combines with the recalibrated rear steering and torque vectoring differential to provide a far more dynamic driving experience than ever before.

The base turbocharged six-cylinder churns out more noticeable torque, and the top-range Turbo GT twin-turbo V8 also gains power; but the most exciting update is found in the S model. Forgoing the 2.9L V6 for a 4.0L V8 not only provides an ample increase in power, but delightful growling burbles which graduate to a cacophonous roar throughout the rev range.

All gasoline-burning engines run cleaner thanks to optimized tuning, but the E-Hybrid line has also evolved to provide improved electric range and overall economy.

A larger and more powerful battery contributes to this—as well as faster charging and improved regenerative braking.

More cosmetic and functional tweaks can be found throughout the interior. A Taycan-inspired curved instrument panel greets drivers, as well as the now standard mode control dial on the steering wheel. The wireless smartphone charger now provides cooling and the passenger receives a 10.9-inch display all to themselves.

The Cayenne continues to reset the bar for both passenger comfort and driver enjoyment—further delivering on its promise as one of Porsche’s most popular models. After going under the knife once more, the 2024 iteration remains far more than just a pretty face.

AN ELECTRIFYING SPECTACLE

OPERATING AT THE PINNACLE OF LUXURY is not about following trends—but perfecting them. Rolls-Royce embodies this attitude; when other luxury brands go all in, the Spirit of Ecstasy somehow finds a way to raise the stakes even higher. Their interior confines are more plush, materials even rarer, and engines far smoother than any competitors in the market. Now, the pivot to electrification has presented a new opportunity for the company’s considerable cream to rise above the crop.

This is the all-new, hotly-anticipated, fully-electric Spectre.

The Spectre is the brand’s first swing in the EV arena, and needless to say Rolls-Royce smashed it out of the park. Just how far this opening salvo will fly is dependent upon the reaction of loyal fans however; to that end, Club Braman invited select members to experience two pre-production models during an exclusive three day event this spring.

Over the course of a long weekend in May, the RollsRoyce Palm Beach showroom was virtually shut off form the outside world. Black curtains unfurled from above the glass windows blocking the curious eyes of passersby on Okeechobee Boulevard. Friday night began with a cocktail reception catered by Sandy James Productions for 50 clients and their guests. The delectable passed hors d’oeuvres included asian infusion tuna tacos, lobster and brie grilled cheese sandwiches, braised short ribs, and jumbo iced shrimp. Saturday and Sunday were highlighted by artisan charcuterie boards, smoothies, and mouthwatering mimosas. All attendees entered the veritable blackbox showroom to find themselves up

close and personal with the Spectres—bathed in stark ceiling spotlights and backed by an ice sculpture of the iconic interlaced Rolls-Royce logo. The massive electric coupes boasted a myriad of luxurious and stylistic flourishes like elegant backlit grills and headliners pin pricked by 4,798 star-like led lights.

As for how exactly the electric driving experience has been interpreted by the geniuses from Goodwood, one can only guess—for now. When it comes to RollsRoyce however, it’s a safe bet the answer lies on the spectacular side of the spectrum of superlatives.

A HARMONIOUS CONCLUSION

FOR THE BETTER PART OF TWO YEARS,

the Palm Beach Symphony’s partnership with Club Braman has allowed members to enjoy the most sophisticated live concert experience in South Florida. This past season, more attendees than ever bore witness to a multitude of masterful performances headed by heralded conductors and performers from across the world.

Each Symphony series features six Masterworks concerts curated by internationallyacclaimed Music Director Gerard Schwarz. This past season’s highlights included Susan Graham, dubbed “America’s Favorite Mezzo” by Gramophone Magazine, virtuoso violinists Sarah Chang and Joshua Bell—the latter headlined the season’s most popular show—and even a world-premiere performance by Pulitzer Prize winner Joseph Shwantner. However, the finale offered a superstar spectacle by pianist Maria João Pires, who joined Gerard Schwarz and the house orchestra in an awe-inspiring production of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23.

REViTALIZING LUXURY

LIKE THE EVER-EXPANDING offering of EVs encroaching on manufacturer model lines, the styling of the newest 7 Series is impossible to ignore. While they have little say in how their latest luxury sedans look, BMW now offers owners options when it comes to motivation. The electrified 2023 i7 xDrive60 is a collaborating counterpart to the fossil fuel-powered 760i; the rearranged placement of the ninth letter of the alphabet making all the difference.

While the i7 xDrive60 mirrors its gasoline-fed twin in both looks and total output—536 horsepower—the former’s electric powertrain allows it to overshadow the latter’s in both outright performance and comfort. Without the wait for turbos and RPMs to build, the sprint to sixty speeds by in the mid 4-second range. Speaking of, regardless of how the i7 xDrive 60 is specced, drivers will savor nearly 300 miles on a full charge. Rather than the faint rumbling of a V8, the cabin remains free of unwanted roar.

The gargantuan i7 drives smaller than its dimensions, sticking true to BMW’s mission. The steering wheel requires minimal inputs, and the brilliant brakes balance out the ludicrous acceleration. Single-pedal operation is an option with regards to adjustable regenerative braking.

As amazing as it is to drive however, the passenger enjoys the pinnacle of the experience. Avant garde technology is artfully applied throughout the next-generation interior; itself a captivating mixture of high-end materials. The available color combinations, ambient lighting choices, and tantalizing textures allow for a truly bespoke build should one demand it. Geometric patterns, both in two dimensions and three, divide the acres of rich leather and optional cashmere wool upholstery. 39 speakers are available, as well as a reclining rear seat with extending footrest.

Theater mode raises the sunshades throughout the back half of the vehicle and deploys from above a prodigious 31.3-inch screen. The door handles to either side feature high definition touchscreens resembling a smartphone, and providing full control over temperature, functionality, and more.

40 Years of Being Part of the Zuccarelli Family

THE BEST ITALIAN RESTAURANTS always include two well-known yet hard to perfect ingredients throughout their menus: authenticity and family. When executed well, these enduring qualities inevitably lead to decades of success. Thus, it’s no surprise that this year, Olimpia Zuccarelli and the restaurants that bear her surname, are celebrating 40 years of serving South Florida.

The original location in Pompano Beach founded by Olimpia’s father in the 1970s focused on originality above all else. To this day, she imports cheeses, meats, and pasta directly from Italy—though the fan-favorite sausage is still made fresh in-house.

Over time, the Zuccarelli’s family history has become interwoven with South Florida’s own. The surrounding region has grown both upward and outward; countless visitors have transformed into permanent residents, foundations have been built and torn down, and legacies have come and gone—yet through it all, Zuccarelli’s has been a constant.

That isn’t to say the restaurant hasn’t improved or expanded its value proposition, of course. In late 2020, Olimpia’s flagship location on Okeechobee Boulevard in West Palm Beach opened an authentic Italian Market in which customers can purchase the same high quality ingredients found in her signature dishes. New for 2023 are catered banquets offering outdoor accommodations and live musical entertainment for parties of up to 120 guests.

Despite the evolution, the familial feeling inherent to each location has remained a top priority. Olimpia’s children cut their teeth working in the restaurants, and with the recent arrival of her first grandchild, the enterprise happily welcomed a fifth generation to the family business. The bond extends beyond blood however. Several of Olimpia’s staff have been with her for over 35 years and that same loyalty is returned in spades; throughout the entirety of the COVID-19 pandemic, Zuccarelli’s experienced zero turnover or job loss.

Waxin’s Restaurang and Bar

WHETHER ON A CONTRACT, CHECK, OR COMMON RECEIPT,

a signature is significant. One’s name represents an investment, guarantee, and authenticity. Patrik Waxin never intended to attach his title to a restaurant. A proprietor of several food and beverage businesses, his foray into a brick and mortar establishment was originally a method of diversifying his portfolio and distribution of his products. However his children convinced him to take literal ownership, and with that, his investment into the venture more than doubled.

His moniker bestowed, the idea behind Waxin’s Restaurang -Swedish for “resturant”, and Bar transformed from a fun experiment into a passion project. There was only one problem: the Palm Beach Gardens venue launched in June of 2020—the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The timing was in fact fortunate, allowing for staff and menus to be perfected as restrictions gradually eased. Success came immediately, and Waxin’s enjoys widespread acclaim as an attractive and authentic destination boasting Swedish fare not found anywhere else in South Florida.

Patrik recognized the region’s lack of outlets for the traditional dishes he and his family dearly missed from their homeland. Unbeknownst to many, Swedish cuisine extends far beyond the meatballs which quickly spring to mind. An incredible variety of seafood, drinks, and meat comprise the Waxin’s menu—which is still anchored by a classic meatball dish; however, this is a luxurious offering made of veal, a Demi cream sauce, potato puree, and lingonberries, which add a dash of cranberry-like sweet and sour to form a delectable entree.

The Skagenröra, or Toast Skagen, is a traditional shrimp salad with mayo, lemon, and dill—a ubiquitous appetizer in Sweden. Club Braman members who identify as discerning foodies are encouraged to try the Swedish Caviar; an option Patrik claims becomes an instant favorite by any who partake. Following a bite with a Hot Shot, Waxin’s signature after dinner drink consisting of layered espresso, vanilla liqueur, and cream provides the ultimate taste of a land full of flavors never before experienced.

Those not quite as adventurous can also take advantage of more familiar dishes such as hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, pastas, and fine cuts of filet and ribeye.

The dedication to delivering on the authenticity inherent to his surname also led Patrik’s interior design. While the tables and bar are well-lit, the sophisticated dark upholstery and comfortable seating emphasize intimacy and eschewing pretension. Guests acquainted with Scandinavia feel immediately at home. Pops of color are found in the bright cocktails and artwork showcasing Swedish celebrities, and those searching for more can retire to the recently opened outdoor bar.

This November, Patrik will be sharing his signature at two new locations; one at Mercato in Naples, and the other on Clematis Street in downtown West Palm Beach.

The latter will take advantage of a larger space, offering a perfectly Instagram-able Lady’s Lounge back room in addition to the main bar living room and dining club sections.
