Help your children expand their interest in visual arts by offering them a chance to get hands-on at the Gasper Arts Center, South Florida’s new collaborative and creative working environment. The Dania Beach–based center is open to an array of professional and amateur local artists and includes state-of-the-art kilns, pottery wheels, teaching spaces, and more for those who benefit from creative camaraderie. Kids can try basic ceramics, painting/drawing, and mosaics classes to find where their artistic passions lie. (gasperarts.com)

WALKING TOUR Venture out for some alfresco fun with the Downtown Hollywood Mural Project. On the third Saturday of each month, join a free walking tour to scout out murals by local, national, and international artists along a nine-block area that extends past Arts Park at Young Circle. Keep your eyes peeled for a pink-haired mermaid, an intricate rendition of Salvador Dalí and Frida Kahlo, and gradient-infused art that enhances Hollywood’s many galleries, shops, and restaurants. ON DISPLAY Gather little ones with interest in mythical fire-breathing creatures for the Museum of Discovery and Science’s latest exhibition, “Here Be Dragons.” Running now through September, this traveling exhibit offers an exploration of three “Dragon Realms,” including medieval dragons, Asian dragons, and dragons in paleontology; the chance to view 10 species of live lizards, including a plumed basilisk and a Chinese water dragon; a look at Dino Dana: The Movie and the Dinosaurs of Antarctica documentary film at the AutoNation IMAX Theater; and more.
