George Nunez submitted this photo of his son, Paul’s, 2005 Carrera.

Taking the long way from Ann Arbor to Los Angeles for a new job, Paul picked up George at the Denver, CO airport. They took the back roads off the interstate from Denver south and west, then to U.S. 64 west from Four Corners, through Taos, NM, passing through Carson National Forest. Heading south, they enjoyed stops at Goosenecks National Park, Mexican Hat and at the spectacular Monument Valley where this photo was taken. They continued west, past the south rim of the Grand Canyon, and through Williams, AZ along Route 66.

George said that “it is a great drive with sweeping curves and reaching over 10k feet. His (Paul’s) 997 coupe is a great road trip car, comfortable cruising at 3000 rpm at 80mph and still getting 27mpg.”

Here in the GCR, George drives a 1987 Carrera that was driven on a road trip in 2016 with his other son and was featured in a previous Kassette article.

This image captures the spirit of adventure and the roads yet to be traveled. Just like the new year, bringing a fresh start when new and eye-opening experiences await.

George took this photo using a Samsung Galaxy S8.
