CANNON BERNÁLDEZ
ESPACIOS DE REFLEXIÓN Y FANTASÍA Curated by Emma Cecilia García Krisnky
El Azul Project Thanks to FONCA (Mexican National Creators System) grant, Cannon Bernรกldez could develop this project, that goes deep into the case of the many disappearances that have occurred in Mexico during the last ten years. Through a very wide and tough investigation, the artist interviewed collectives, Human Rights defendants and journalists working in that field, to get first hand information about what and why was really happening. With the revealing pieces that she developped, Cannon Bernรกldez aims to make the viewer understand and concern about the difficult and strange times Mexico is living right now. This research, this artistic process has become part of the project itself: we see the documents, the logs, the actual files. Cannon also discourses about the real meaning and use of Photography in this series: her tools are light, chemicals, paper, but also memory, copyright and the Internet. All these aspects are reflected in these unique pieces.
