In this edition of Vue, we have a coffee catch-up with a member of our weddings and events team, we share the stunning reception of Claire and Luke and we showcase the latest packages for school formals and conferences here at Long Pocket. Why did you choose Long Pocket Weddings and Events for your nuptials?
We chose Long Pocket as the venue for our wedding day as all the rooms were modern and the grounds were immaculate. The packages available were all inclusive and catered for everything we were after. Along with the helpful staff, we knew this was the place where we wanted to be married.
What did you love most about the venue?
The grounds at Long Pocket are immaculate with beautiful Jacaranda trees which were in bloom for our wedding. We had our photos taken under these trees which were an amazing backdrop and went well with the attire of the bridal party. We continually have guests from our wedding commenting on how beautiful the venue was, especially the view of the sunset they watched from the terrace whilst we were having our photos taken. 6
What was the style and colour theme of your reception?
We didn’t really set on a specific theme for the wedding, we just wanted something modern but also had a soft touch.. We used the crystal centrepieces for height and some flowers to compliment. The colour theme for the reception was mint green. The colour was used for the chair sashes, menus and groomsmen’s ties.

Social Golf at Indooroopilly Golf Club PUBLIC PLAY
Indooroopilly Golf Club welcomes visitors to play our 36-hole championship golf course from Sunday to Friday. Located on a bend of the Brisbane River just 10 minutes from the heart of Brisbane, we offer a great golf experience in a relaxed setting. Please note that Indooroopilly Golf Club has a strict Dress Code. For insurance reasons external motorised carts are not allowed at Indooroopilly Golf Club. We have 60 motorised carts available for hire should they be required.

By registering, you can book your next tee off time for 18-holes of golf from Sunday to Friday. staff spotlight Tell us a little more about your journey with Long Pocket? – I have been employed at Long Pocket for 21 years and worked in various departments. My involvement in Event Sales began in 2000 and since that time I have been privileged to work with some wonderful people as well as being associated with new developments within the company. What made you decide on a career in hospitality? – When a position became available in our Events Department I decided to apply as I enjoy working with people and also felt that my background knowledge of the operations of our organization would be an asset. What is your favourite aspect of your job? – The variety. No two days are the same. The diversity of our organization offers the opportunity to meet and coordinate functions across a broad section of the community. What is your idea of the perfect event? – When clients leave our establishment with the feeling that all their expectations and more have been met. What advice would you give to couples when planning their big day? – To place their faith in us to take away any concerns they may have in the lead up to their wedding day. How do you enjoy spending your time away from work? – I enjoy spending time at my local gym as exercise is an important part of my life and of course is always rewarded with a cup of coffee and socializing with my friends. However, my favourite hobby is shopping!!
