reetings and welcome to our 2nd Annual Bull Sale. It is hard to believe that a year has passed so quickly. With the weather reaching above 0 temperatures as we write this, it doesn’t seem possible that it would be this time of year. Our family would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you that supported our 1st bull sale as well as those that purchased bulls from us prior. You have contributed to our confidence in what we are doing in the Charolais breed. The declining numbers in the cow herds across the country encouraged us to expand our commercial herd to put more Charcross calves on the market. It cannot be repeated enough to say “Now is a great time to be in the cattle business,” and certainly if you are using Charolais bulls. We are excited about the group of bulls we are offering this year. We believe we have a strong herdsire collection that put together the bulls you see in this catalogue. They offer breeders the requirements to a successful calving program. They include solid genetics, calving ease (without losing performance), good scrotal development, hair, good feet, red factor and white, polled or horned, and something we all want to work with, good dispositions. These bulls are pail fed and easy to work around. Each year we work to implement changes to meet the demands of you, the producers, and we hope all of you can find something that will work in your herd. It is our hope that we can contribute in a positive way to your bottom line when it comes to your calf crop. For those of you not familiar with our sale, it has been our decision to operate this sale right at the farm and use a Power Point display. It will be less stress for the animals and the people. There will be no animals brought through the ring during the sale. They will be on display in pens in front of the barn for you to walk through prior to the sale. You are also invited to come to the yard any time before the sale to go through the bull pen at your convenience. Coffee is always on and visitors are always welcome. Welcome to the second Elder Charolais Farm bull sale. It really is an exciting time in the cattle business. Who knew a year ago where the markets would be today? If you have sat in any auction market in the last six months you will know that the crossbred calves and in particular the Charcross calves have been paying a dividend to the seller. Now is the time to improve your calves as much as possible with quality herdbulls. You can afford to buy a better bull and owe it to your future to do it. The Elder family, which now has the 4th generation working with purebred Charolais cattle, are committed to the breed and the cattle industry. Not only do they have a great Charolais herd but also run a commercial herd that helps them stay in tune with the cow/calf operator they sell bulls to. They have never strived to raise show cattle but on the show road last fall their string did very well. This set of bulls is the best top to bottom that I have seen in their pen and I have been looking at their pen for many years. The homegrown sire Wahkamo has really done a great job adding the thickness and top so desired in the feedlot and packing industry. He complimented the already solid sires Silverado and Kaboom the calving ease bull. the thickness and structural soundess you need in a herd bull. He moves out easily, has exceptional temperament, and sound feet with good testicles. Terms & Conditions Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale in Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made. Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale. Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final. Announcements: Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements. Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured. Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made. Delivery: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk. Breeder Guarantee - Bulls: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze. Exception Guarantee: In case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price. Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property. By Livestock is only acting as a medium between the buyer and seller and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations; or for the truth of any warrantees or representations, expressed or implied. By Livestock assumes no obligation to enforce or collect monies between parties. By Livestock assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer.
