We are experiencing the highest feeder cattle prices the industry has ever seen to date! The nation’s cow herd is continuing to shrink with the US cow inventory currently at the lowest number in 73 years! With the current shortage of cattle in the supply chain and high demand across the world, there is no better time to put the best genetics to work for your operation and to capitalize on the growing demand of high-quality beef!

Each fall and winter we enjoy seeing what our genetics have done to improve our customers cattle through our feeder cattle marketing program. LT customer calves have topped the market throughout the year and continue to lead the way in both performance and carcass traits that both the feeder and packer demand. It was truly rewarding to see our customers be rewarded with record-setting prices from sale barns, private treaty sales, to video auctions across the Nation. It was evident that the investment in LT genetics was well accepted by some of the best feeders in the country. The bulls in this year’s offering were developed on a “High Roughage Ration”, no corn or silage! We have focused on fertility, longevity, carcass merit and performance over the years resulting in cattle that not only are phenotypically correct but hold up under extreme conditions. Our strong Maternal factory is not taken lightly, we continue to focus on the cow factory while producing bulls and females that are easy fleshing, fertile, and structurally correct. LT genetics have performed above industry levels on the rail resulting in strong demand from packers. All bulls in the sale will be semen checked prior to sale day.

We have continued to use many of our tried and proven herd sires that are well known around the Charolais and Angus World along with some exciting up and coming herd sires that we have added to the program. We are committed to promoting the sustainability of the commercial cow-calf producer by providing proven, profitable genetics to our customers. Your acceptance of the bulls and the progeny you produce are the driving factors behind our passion for raising the very best seedstock possible.

This past year we had the opportunity to add some exciting new genetics to the LT World Renowned Genetics by purchasing the entire Moore Angus herd from SD along with the entirety of the famous Canadian BAR-E-L heifer and bull calf crop and bred heifers. These two wellknown herds have produced some of the best herd sires and females in the country and we are honored to have been able to incorporate them into our program. These programs spent the past 40 years building a strong maternal driven cow herd that has produced industry leading herd sires and females sought after by the very best in the Angus World. A special thanks to Jerry and Pam Moore and Dave and Lynne Longshore for trusting us with their lifetime of dedication and hard work to build these amazing herds.

Free Nationwide delivery on purchases totaling over $10,000. Delivery will begin the week following the sale. Please make delivery arrangements at the settlement desk. If you prefer to haul your own bulls on sale day, we will give a $100 per head discount.

BREEDING GUARANTEE

Lindskov’s LT Ranch unconditionally guarantees our bulls to be sound, fertile, and reproductive through the first breeding season which will end as of September 1st in the year of purchase. In the event that the bull is injured or fails a semen evaluation by September 1st in the year of purchase, a replacement will be made available or credit in the forthcoming sale. Salvage value of the bull will be deducted from the credit. We strongly recommend obtaining insurance at the time of purchase. We will guarantee your satisfaction!

HEALTH

Health certificates will be provided with each sale lot. Dr. Pat Bierman will be available on sale day to write any interstate health certificates.

All bulls have been given two rounds of Fusoguard Footrot vaccine along with being on a complete vaccination and mineral program since birth.

REGISTRATIONS

All bulls are registered with either the American Charolais International Association or American Angus Association. Registrations will be transferred to the buyer at time of settlement.

TERMS

The terms of the sale are cash or check payable to Lindskov’s LT Ranch unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made prior to the sale. The right of the property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released.

LIABILITY

All persons attending this sale do so at their own risk, legal or otherwise, for their safety or behavior of the animals. The owners, auctioneers, sale staff and hosts assume no liability for property loss or any accidents that may occur.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Errors discovered in the catalog will be corrected by announcements from the auction block at sale time, and such corrections will take precedence over the printed materials.

DISPUTES

The auctioneer will settle any bid disputes.

History of the Lindskov Ranch

The Lindskov Ranch was founded by William “Bill” Lindskov in 1934. Bill and Delores operated the local café in Isabel, SD for several years while running Hereford cattle and Hampshire sheep north of Isabel. Bill purchased the Automotive Company, a New Holland Farm Equipment Dealership in 1951 and continued to ranch along with operating the dealership. Bill decided it was time to move his family to the ranch 5 miles north of Isabel along Firesteel Creek in 1961 that he had been slowly putting together over the years!

Bill passed away unexpectedly in 1981 at the early age of 68. Bill and his son Les were partners in both the Automotive Co. and on the ranch for over 10 years so Les took over full management of the operations at the age of 30. Les bought his first registered Charolais cows in 1980 and continued to expand the ranching operations with both registered Charolais cows and Commercial cattle along with a large flock of sheep. He held his first Charolais bull sale in 1981.

Brent and Nancy Thiel joined Les and Marcia in the Registered Charolais business in 1987, so with this the Lindskov-Thiel Charolais partnership was formed. Later the partnership added a Registered Angus herd to the operation therefore having both breeds in the Annual Bull Sale. The Lindskov-Thiel program grew to become one of the most recognized Charolais and Angus herds in the Nation.

In 2022 Brent and Nancy decided it was time to slow down and the Lindskov-Thiel partnership was dissolved. The purebred operation was rebranded to Lindskov’s LT Ranch and is managed by Bryce, Todd & Monte Lindskov and their families. Today the Lindskov operation features purebred Charolais and Angus bulls in their annual bull sale and registered females by private treaty along with commercial bred heifers that they sell each fall. They also feed several thousand of their customers’ calves that they buy each fall and winter.

The Lindskov’s look forward to serving their existing customers along with building new relations with potential new customers in the future. The Lindskov family is really focused on customer service by adding value and profit to the commercial rancher and seedstock producers, all while meeting the needs of the feeders, packers, and consumers. They want their customers to be rewarded for their hard work and loyalty to the LT program.

The next generation is already a big part of the operation, and this gives them great joy knowing that the hard work of their ancestors will continue on. The Lindskov’s view the land as a gift to the steward who cares for it. They aim to leave the land better than they found it over 80 years ago. Through sustainable practices such as conservation, grazing, water, and wildlife management, the ranch, and their vision to produce top-notch livestock and crops, will continue for generations to come.

2024 Commercial Producer of the Year

Chuck and Bobbi Maher of Timber Lake, SD were recently awarded the Commercial Producer of the Year by the South Dakota Charolais Breeders Association. Maher runs about 135 March and April calving black cows and breeds them all to LT Charolais bulls. He buys Charolais bred heifers or threeyear olds each year and sells calves directly off the cow the second or third week in October.

Presented by Al Vedvei, with the South Dakota Charolais Breeders Association, Chuck and Bobbi Maher recently received the Commercial Breeders Association accolades.

Thanks to a feedlot tour with Brent Thiel several years ago, Maher’s Charolais cross calves now sell right off the ranch. “I sell pounds, and Charolais influenced calves have never done me wrong,” Maher say. “I haven’t looked to change my breeding program, but I have been open to change in general.” For Maher, the primary change came when Thiel introduced him to Curt Nash. After meeting, Nash began buying Maher’s calves through the sale barn. “Curt bought them out of the barn for a few years. They fit his business well, so we made a handshake deal, agreed to treat each other well every year, and the rest is history so far,” Maher says. Maher continues, “The Charolais breed has come a long way in the last few decades, and they keep getting better.”

In Chuck’s early years he would help Les and Brent with clipping and preparing the bulls for their annual sale. “Chuck states that after his dad died at an early age that Les Lindskov became like a dad to him.” The entire LT family is very proud of Chuck’s accomplishments and his dedication to the Charolais breed. Chuck and his family have not only been loyal customers of ours but true friends. Congratulations to Chuck, Bobbi and their entire family on this great achieve ment and well-deserved recognition.

2024 Seedstock Producer of the Year

The South Dakota Charolais Breeders Association recently recognized David Mason and Prairie Valley Farm as a dedicated supporter and promoter of the Charolais breed by naming the farm 2024 Seedstock Producer of the Year. Prairie Valley Farm is located near Platte, SD and has an annual bull sale each spring at Platte Livestock. The farm runs 150 of their best cows in a spring-calving herd with another 100 cows in their fall-calving herd. While his father, Clarence Mason earns credit for most sound advice, Mason says he’ll never forget the wisdom good friend Brent Thiel shared along the way. David has selected several of his herd sires out of the Lindskov-Thiel program over the past 35 years. One of the greatest purchases that they made was when they purchased LT Chaps from the LT program. We are honored to call David a customer but most importantly a great friend! Congratulations to David and the entire Prairie Vally Farm on this welldeserved award.

A tribute to a true friend A.J. Lindskov

The Lindskov Family was thrown a curve ball recently with the passing of a great husband, father, cousin, grandpa, and friend to so many! A.J. started having some health complications in early January that quickly deteriorated his health. A.J. passed away on February 27,2024 at his home after a very short, hard-fought battle with cancer. Thankful to his wife Cindy for honoring his wishes to spend the last days of his life on earth at home on the ranch he built and loved so much. A.J. Lindskov was a great stockman tending to his large flock of sheep and cattle herd since he was a young man. The son of the late Arthur and Wilma Lindskov, A.J. grew up on the family ranch 7 miles north of Isabel.

A.J. was a well-respected community member serving on several boards over the years including the Isabel Rodeo Association and both the Isabel School Board and Timber Lake School Board serving as past president of both. He was the Isabel Parade Chairman for the past several years where he and his wife Cindy took great pride in organizing one of the best parades in the state that always drew a large crowd of spectators and floats come rain or shine! The Isabel community will have some big boots to fill as A.J. was always there to help someone in need. He took great pride in his community and was an instrumental leader in organizing several fundraisers and benefit auctions for his friends and community when in need.

A.J. and his cousin Les Lindskov grew up together and have been lifetime friends. The two of them ran a large trap line in their younger years that resulted in large numbers of furs sold each year. They later partnered on some land and cattle for a few years and after a while they mutually decided to split up the partnership and run their own operations as both were getting busier. They continued to help each other throughout the years especially at branding and weaning times and even the lamb docking days.

A.J. and his wife Cindy continued growing the ranch that now includes their son Justin. A.J. and Justin worked side by side over the past few years putting up hay and tending to their large commercial cow herd that A.J. took great pride in. He raised some of the best Charolais-cross calves in the country that topped the market come sale day. Shipping day was one of A.J.’s favorite days as he was able to see the accomplishments of all the work he put into his ranch and herd. His smile on sale day was priceless as he watched his calves go through the ring to repeat customers that waited for the day he would sell and that he had become friends with through this connection. A.J. was a loyal customer and friend to the LT family purchasing all his bulls from us for the past 42 years.

John C. Meginness

John Meginness was a cattleman, farmer, and Isabel native through and through. With generations of roots in the Isabel community, John had a passion for the area, its people and culture. John and his wife Deb raised a great family here on the plains.

John was born a farmer and was great at mechanics. He loved watching the crops grow and was especially fond of combining. He was very proud of the cattle herd that he built and enjoyed watching his calves top the sale every fall. John knew good cattle and enjoyed the farming and ranching lifestyle. Classic cars were a passion as well and he collected a few.

John served on several boards during his lifetime and was a county commissioner for Dewey County, a role he served with pride and took very seriously.

Neil Birkeland

Neil Birkeland was born and raised at Dupree, SD. Neil grew up working hard to support his family and his dreams. Neil was an all-star athlete growing up and later put on many miles traveling to rodeos to ride barebacks and bulls. Neil enjoyed playing a good game of cribbage with family and friends when the occasion arose. Neil was a strong, loving husband and father, memories were made every day.

In 1972 Neil married the love of his life, Vicki Williams Parker Dahl. Neil was a proud and loving father to his 5 children, numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Neil’s dreams and possibilities were to have several children, build up the Birkeland, raise top-notch quality Angus cattle and score a winning hand of cards.

Neil was honored by being selected as the 2013 American Maine Anjou Commercial Producer of the year at the National Western Livestock Show in Denver.

For decades when John and Deb sold their powerful Charolaiscross smokies and Angus calves, buyers sat up, took notice, and bid to the top. John focused on high quality cattle and cared for them to make the most of his genetics. John believed in investing in top-of-the-line genetics and was an “LT” customer from the first day he starting buying bulls until the very end. For many, many years, he and friend, AJ Lindskov sat on the seats together at the Lindskov-Thiel Bull sale, selecting bulls, telling stories, and enjoying the festivities.

From practical jokes to a warm smile, John was more than a good friend to us all.

John will be greatly missed in the community and was more than a customer to our family, he was truly a great friend to so many.

Neil worked beside his son Jace for years building the Birkeland Ranch into what it is today. The ranch is in good hands today with Jace, his wife Kristi and their family running a top-notch commercial Angus cow herd that produces market topping feeder cattle year after year. We all know Neil is proudly watching the Birkeland Ranch prosper today from heaven, Jace, Kristi and Neil’s family should be proud of what they have done to continue building the ranch for the next generation.

Neil will be greatly missed by the “LT” family, his friends, and neighbors. We can say we were honored to call Neil a customer, but most importantly a friend.
