Celebrating 25 Years
FOR THE BEST PRICES peacecenter.org 864.467.3000
Can you believe the Peace Center is celebrating its 25th Anniversary? At times, that just doesn’t seem possible. I’ve had the pleasure of being here 21 of those 25 years and I’ve seen firsthand what the Peace Center has done for our extraordinary city. Before the Peace Center, downtown Greenville was pretty much a place to avoid. But that quickly changed when our doors opened on November 30, 1990. Suddenly, the Upstate had an entertainment hub, with hundreds of thousands of people drawn to its campus each year. They proudly celebrated it, suspecting (and hoping) it would revitalize the city. And it did. Fast-forward 25 years. Downtown Greenville now houses an abundance of condos, apartments, restaurants, hotels and fabulous retail. There is an arena, a ball park and a Falls Park! Peace Center artists have always come from every corner of the world, and now, with all Greenville has to offer, so do our patrons. While much has changed at the Peace Center since we opened our doors, a lot never will. We look a little different with the new additions to our campus: the gorgeous plaza and expanded lobby, park and outdoor amphitheater, and classy theater lounge, yet we still have the same mission imagined 25 years ago. The Peace Center’s vision is to be the best. Greenville deserves the best. You deserve the best. And that’s just what we’re here to give. So, thank you. Thank you to our Peacekeepers and the corporate community; patrons and subscribers; resident companies and local producing organizations. Thank you to those who choose us to host their special occasions, trustees, volunteers and staff, artists and agents, and the city and county of Greenville. 50th Anniversary, here we come. PEACEKEEPERS MAKE OUR WORLD GO ‘ROUND The Peace Center is so much more than what audiences see on our stages. While we always aim to bring you top-notch acts from around the world, this can only be accomplished with help from a very important group of people.

These individuals are true believers in the Peace Center. They’re patrons, advocates for the arts and people who truly believe that Greenville is a better place because of what our venue brings to the table. And with their annual gifts, these individuals help make up the foundation of our organization. Without them, our walls would crumble (both metaphorically and literally). We lovingly refer to these people as Peacekeepers. Interested in helping keep the arts and entertainment scene thriving in our great city by becoming a Peacekeeper? All gifts are tax-deductible, and once you become a Peacekeeper, you’ll have access to a slew of benefits like the ability to buy the best seats before they go on sale to the general public, and the opportunity to meet the artists through exclusive receptions, talk-backs and more. FINDING YOUR VOICE THROUGH OUR PEACE VOICES PROGRAM In this age of instant, technology-driven conversation, we’ve started to lose touch with the power of language. We’ve forgotten how to express ourselves, trading rich, potent words for watered down acronyms. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Everyone deserves to have a voice. With the Peace Center’s Poet-in-Residence Glenis Redmond at the helm, Peace Voices offers master classes and professional poetry readings for students and adults. Using poetry as a vehicle, people are encouraged to discover their own voice, tell unique, personal stories, have important conversations and develop written and verbal skills. You’re definitely going to fall in love with our Peace Voices program. Sign up for one of these amazing events today!
