Welcome to our first update

We hope that over the coming months, we’ll provide you with some updates on things happening in our communities and ensure everyone knows how they can access our help. If you have an issue, we’ll certainly try and help fix it; if we can’t, we’ll help find the person that can.

Christine has been helping at the Peacehaven Community Supermarket

The SCDA Community Supermarket is held every Thursday, 11:00 am - 3:00 pm at Kempton House, Cavell Ave, Peacehaven. Tinned goods, fresh fruit and vegetables are always available, although the choice is sometimes limited. Members decide how much to pay based on what they can contribute. To ask about membership or maybe you’d like to volunteer, please call 01273 516032. The food is sourced from FareShare, reducing food waste and keeping our costs down. There is also help on hand to point you in the right direction if you need advice about bills, rent, etc.

Cheaper Bus Fares This Summer

Residents can enjoy cheaper fares this summer thanks to a funding boost from East Sussex County Council. Bus operators in East Sussex are introducing a range of discounts for passengers, including a new £5 East Sussex single operator day ticket, family and group travel tickets, and an off-peak unaccompanied young person £1 flat single fare ticket. Lower fares are currently available from Brighton & Hove Buses, Metrobus, Compass Travel and Stagecoach. Other operators will be introducing these offers shortly.

Cleaning Up the Avenues This Autumn

We’re sure you’ve all noticed the increased litter levels on our streets. Residents groups have done some fantastic work to clean up the parks. Chris will be organising a road-by-road clean-up each weekend starting in September. Volunteers are welcome. Assisted sheltered housing for retired people Independent living with support COMMITTEE MEMBERS WANTED

Dorothy House is a sheltered housing scheme in Peacehaven providing housing for retired local people. We presently have vacancies in our Management Committee. This is an interesting and varied voluntary role, which involves attending evening meetings every six weeks. Occasional Driver & Handyman required

This position is on an ad-hoc basis. We are looking for someone who can encourage and support a young male to progress in their skills of home maintenance.
