I Spy …
This month all eyes are on one of our body’s most complex and interesting organs: the human eye.

It can differentiate between 2 and 7.5 million colours and we only see about one-sixth of it as most of the eyeball is carefully tucked into its socket.
It is designed both for long range and close up vision and gets far too much of the latter especially when we use our smartphones. Our body produces 5 to 10 ounces of tears as the eyes need to be lubricated all the time, which is often hindered by artificial light, air conditioning and stress.

When we look at objects like a smartphone, tablet, computer, the eyes and the muscles around the eyes are working harder than normal as they are trying to adjust to the light that is emitted from the screen. This constant adjustment to quickly changing images or text is what causes our eyes to get strained.
How long will you be spending in front of a screen today?
Here are 3 easy to action top tips that will make a world of difference to your precious eyes!
1) Look away
Follow the 20-20-20 rule. Look away from your screen every 20 minutes to gaze at a distant object at least 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds. You can also close them from time to time so they have nothing to look at.
2) Blink
We should blink every 3-5 seconds now some people blink every 3-4 minutes, no wonder the eyes are getting tired and itchy. So, bat those eyelids!
3) Exercise
The eyes are like any other muscles in the body and they need movement. To stimulate them look up, down, right and left make sure the eyes do the movement, not your head!
Keep an eye on those eyes and honour them by disconnecting from tech, reconnecting to the wonders of those two gems, and dare to be the change, you want to see in your organisation, family, community and life!

As a big animal lover herself, she has personally, since 2005, assisted thousands of beloved furry family members - and their families – have more quality time together without stressful travel to the vet.
Our calling is to give the most loving and peaceful goodbye in the comfort of a favourite spot, at home, using our gentle two-step, non-clinical method, with a sedation first, tailored to your pet’s unique personality and special ailments, ensuring a calm and gentle transition for your pet. As a new local resident of Peacehaven, Dr Suzen welcomes the local pet community with a special, local discount for all BN10 residents and new ‘neighbours’ when sadly faced with this heart-breaking last journey.
If you happen to see our colourful ‘Celebrating Life’ painted car (pictured here) around town, it will be Dr Suzen’s daughter, Amanda who is also her Practice Manager, on her weekly round to personally return beloved pets’ ashes to their families, while remembering everything these precious animals bring to our lives.
