The weather has been very kind to us in May and hopefully will continue on throughout June. Good luck to all our young readers who are taking their exams at the moment. Across the board the new range offers two HDMi Ports. If you have room for two screens this can be a useful option. At the moment I could have Word on screen 1 and the Intel website on screen 2 (easily checking this article as I type).

Coaching for weight loss… Does it work? Why do people use a personal trainer? PEACEHAVEN & TELSCOMBE U21s finished their season in style by winning the Sussex County Under 21 Challenge Cup. They defeated local rivals Saltdean Utd U21s 3-1 in an entertaining and well contested game at Newhaven Town’s Trafalgar Ground with goals from Conor Martin (2) and Pat McColgan. And after the game, Haven’s U21 manager Clive Blunt dedicated the victory to everyone at the club. After proud Haven captain Craig Avens had lifted the trophy manager Clive Blunt said: “I’m delighted for the boys. They worked extremely hard this evening and thoroughly deserved victory.” “To have won this cup is significant on many levels.” “Two years ago we nearly didn’t have a football club, so I want to dedicate this victory to the board of Peacehaven & Telscombe FC who stood up when it mattered and took hold of this brilliant football club and set it back on course, and also to the fans and owners for their superb support.”
The first team finished in seventh place in the Southern Combination League with 68 points from their 38 games played and more than achieved their target of a higher finish than last years’ 14�� place finish. Off the pitch, the annual youth tournament held over the weekend of May 12 and 13 was voted a resounding success. And the 40�� anniversary celebration of local punk rock band Peter & The Test Tube Babies, (supported by Peacehaven’s own rock n roll revival band The Relics), and playing to a capacity crowd for the first time in town was also a high point. If you want to get involved with the club as a player, parent or volunteer the club would love to hear from you.
He concluded: “I think this win is important for everyone and shows what can be achieved when we all pull together as one.”

WE NEED YOUR HELP IN OUR UNITS OR TO OPEN OTHER ONES Peacehaven and Telscombe District Rainbow, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section have over 170 girls participating in the various units, with over 100 girls on waiting lists to join guiding. If you can spare one and a half hours each week to help out in units, either as a unit leader/ assistant leader/ unit helper/ occasional helper or other then we would be really grateful. Depending on what role you would be willing to participate in, you might need a DBS Check.
What will be expected of you: Our Leaders undergo an assortment of training, these include sectional, leadership, first response, food safety, going away with girls, A Safe Space. Attend unit meetings where the terms activities are discussed, these are generally once a term, with District meetings these are also once a term, but not all adults need to attend but would be good to be shared about so not left to one adult all the time.
Guiding can give you a fabulous experience, from meeting new people, challenging yourself, build on your skills, and for you to share a skill or specialism, take a refreshing break from your normal routines, make a difference to the lives of the girls in your community, spend time laughing , playing, and being inspired by incredible girls and young women.

Fun-runners dressed as superheroes will be bounding around ten immense inflatables and scaling massive obstacles; all to raise money for your local hospice. Antonia Shepherd from the Martlets Fundraising Team said, “It’s all about having some silly fun, flying around a very bouncy obstacle course whilst dressed as your favourite superhero.
“The money raised will help us to provide the vital care needed for people affected by terminal illness in Brighton and Hove and neighbouring areas.” Kapow is a family friendly event, suitable for children over the height of 1.2m accompanied by a paying adult. Calling All Carers – by Helen Peters Do you help to look after someone who couldn’t manage without your support? Join us at the Peacehaven Carers Wellbeing Group, a drop-in session open to all carers, held on the 3�� Tuesday of every month, from 10.30am to 12 noon. We meet at the Rendezvous Hall behind The House Project on the South Coast Road in Peacehaven.
Sometimes our support worker from Care for the Carers, Kat Matthews, comes along or we have a speaker on a particular subject of interest to us. This could cover changes in legislation, benefits or support services. We may have quizzes, general discussions and, on occasion, a good old moan!
Care for the Carers charity, which supports unpaid carers across East Sussex, helps to facilitate our group meetings. We’re a friendly group who care for spouses, partners, offspring, parents, extended family or friends and we offer a welcoming place to chat about your experience as a carer, with others who understand your difficulties. We know that life as a carer can make it hard to find time for yourself, like going out for lunch or on a shopping trip. So, if you’re a carer, come and join us.
At our last meeting we discussed useful gadgets and the skills we have all gained through being carers. My claim to fame is managing to put up a new pine curtain rail using an electric drill. It’s not perfect, but it will do. Following that we all tasted my homemade soup.
Our group operates as a drop-in session, where you can come and go as you please if you can’t stay for the whole morning. You don’t have to commit to come every time either, just come along when you can. We welcome a donation of 50p if you’re able, to cover the cost of tea, coffee and biscuits.

NEWS FROM ASCENSION CHURCH - BRAMBER AVENUE, PEACEHAVEN Recent weeks have been very busy and numbers continue to grow. There were 65 at the church breakfast recently who enjoyed lots to eat followed by an informal service. The better weather has meant all the children are able to burn off lots of energy in the church grounds after the service on a Sunday morning playing football and other games. The Tikes and Trikes group are holding a Table Top Sale on Saturday June 2 in the church hall from 1030 to 1230 so why not go along and grab a bargain as well as lots of tea and cakes.
Sunday June 17 is the next of our healing services at 6.30 pm in the church. The service is very quiet and gentle and is an opportunity for all those who would like to receive prayer for particular physical and emotional healing to be prayed for privately. The healing service held a couple of months ago was much valued and a time of real blessing for those who came along. Don't forget that apart from ringing the people below you can also catch up on all the latest information by looking at the new church website: cofeatpeacehaven.org.uk.
One of the most exciting things recently has been the arrival of our Associate Vicar Rev Mark Hake and his wife We hope to see you soon. God bless you. Rebecca. They have already started work in the parish alongside Rev Tim Mills our vicar. Mark has been serving as a priest in two rural parishes in Somerset and has also worked at the Met Office Exeter. It will be great to grow together in faith and share the good news of Jesus with those around us..
