Unfortunately the fireworks don’t seem to be exclusive to just one day making it more tricky for animal owners to judge. There are great articles this month from all sorts of groups and Christmas information coming in thick and fast so do take a look. Six months of shortages ... and nothing to do with Brexit!

Every year there is a shortage of something in the computer industry, mostly it passes unnoticed in the outside world - this time will be different.

After several years in the doldrums AMD could now have their big chance to get back in the market. The new AMD Athlon 200 GE has just been released and could be the budget CPU builders need for under ÂŁ100. It is a two core 3.2 GHz with a basic graphics chip.

Intel is not making enough processors to meet demand. Like many shortages there are many contributory causes. Intel underestimated the demand for businesses updating their machines, a surge in Server demand and problems manufacturing 9th Generation processors. The short term solution is to stop producing the budget processors that consumers have in their budget PCs. As the profit on Celeron, Pentium and low end i3 CPUs is measured in pence, production has halted. Factories have switched to making the more expensive processors for business PCs and servers, with their higher profits. The big manufacturers like HP and Lenovo have long term bulk contracts, so they should have their needs

Coming soon are Athlon 220 GE and 240 GE versions. The AMD Ryzen 2200G is a good i3 replacement. So AMD has the products to fill the gap, can they get the processors and motherboards on the shelves to benefit from Intel's own goal? The race is on.....

19 My name is Sharon and I am a brand new Slimming World Consultant. All consultants are members of a Slimming World group before they are lucky enough to be offered the opportunity to become a consultant. I have been asked to write about my slimming journey and it’s a tough one. It’s tough because I have read amazing and inspirational stories of members past and present, and how they have shed the pounds and reversed health issues like diabetes, or how they are literally half the person they used to be and had their dream wedding. They all have the “WOW” factor. My story is a little less obvious. There's not that much of a physical change in me, some friends and family haven’t really noticed my weight loss. I wasn’t suffering any physical health issues that I needed to lose weight for. My issue was what we call “baby weight”. A couple of stone more than I should be due to too many cakes and biscuits consumed after my daughter was born. All my clothes were tight and my BMI was not in the healthy range. “That’s normal after you have a baby though” I hear you say. Well she was 3 and not a baby anymore! 3 years I had spent eating too much, drinking a few more evening vinos than I should, and using my “baby” as an excuse! I also had Post Natal Depression. This was dark and hard. Most days it was manageable and I very much used food and over indulgence as a crutch. As the months and years passed the PND became less, but the naughty eating and evening wines were the same. Doing this for 3 years is a hard habit to break, and I needed help and inspiration. Queue my lovely Slimming World group. When you go to a Slimming World group you are welcomed. You are safe. There is no judgement. You can be there to lose as much or as little as you like. There a people of all shapes and sizes, all generations, all genders. You chat, you mingle, you grab a cup of tea, you get weighed, you share stories and hints and tips and recipes and support. You go home happy whether you have lost or gained that week.

old pair of jeans! It has taken longer than a lot of others to, but that’s because I still had PND blips. I’d still reach for the sharing bag of chocolate buttons if I’d had a tough day. But I kept going to my Slimming World group. My consultant understood and kept supporting me through all the lows. Now I am at my target weight, I am happier and more confident, my PND has all but gone, my eating habits are healthier, my BMI is in the healthy range and my pre-baby clothes all fit again! I am proud of what I have achieved. I want everyone to know that everyone's story and journey is different, but no one's is any less important. Setting yourself a goal and getting to it, no matter the time it takes or how you get there, is amazing! If there is the added benefit of improving your physical or mental health along the way then that’s just awesome! And now I get to help others achieve their goals, how wonderful!

Celebrating the extraordinary work of hospices This year’s Hospice Care Week (8-14 October) is all about celebrating the extraordinary work that hospices do at the heart of their communities. Martlets is marking the week by telling the stories of the real people of Brighton & Hove who work for, support or receive care from the hospice. It’s an opportunity to inspire people from across the city to get involved with the charity, whether that’s by giving their time, donating or simply by showing their appreciation for its work on social media.

“One of the best things about my job is when patients gain enough confidence to start going out and about and reconnecting with the things they enjoy. There is something very special about being involved with patients and their families at this stage of their lives and being able to empower them to do as much as they can every day.”

Retired Infant School Teacher and hospice volunteer Robina Williams visits patients with her Cavalier King Charles Spaniels Topsy and Jacob, it’s a role she’s enjoyed for 28 years. She said, “I think it gives people a sense of normality, having a dog to stroke, it really is a source of comfort for some people. Sometimes I have to lift the dogs up, so that a patient can reach them, and they’ll be given a little lick. That is what’s so nice about Martlets; they allow people to be people and not just patients.”

Martlets CEO Imelda Glackin said, “You can’t miss our giant Snails, which are currently dotted around the city. I think they’re a very tangible representation of everything that Martlets is about. Like the Snails, our amazing team, wonderful volunteers and supporters are in every corner of the community; enabling people to still feel hope, purpose and possibility.

Remembrance Service – Sunday 11�� November 2018 Peacehaven Town Council are organising this year’s remembrance service for the town, which will take place on Sunday 11�� November at Meridian Park. The parade will muster at the Joff Car Park area at 10.00 am and will march to the War Memorial site at 10.40 am. Sutton Avenue, part of Roderick Avenue and Greenwich Way will be closed for 15 minutes until the Parade passes. The first part of the service will start as soon as the parade arrives with the welcome, the reading of the war heroes’ names followed by the Exhortation. At 11.00am the Bugler will sound the Last Post and the Royal Legion’s standard will dip. The maroon will launch. As the notes fade away, the town will join the rest of the nation in paying their respects in silence for two minutes then as the bugler sounds the Reveille the RBL standards will be raised. The Kohima Epitaph, When you go home ‘Tell Them of Us’ will be read by Johan Janse van Vuuren followed by the traditional laying of the wreaths by the various councils and local organisations The Revd. Tim Mills will lead the service in prayer. This remembrance service is open to all residents, friends and neighbours. Peacehaven Town Council will be opening their doors for refreshments afterwards at Community House with an option to stay a bit longer to watch a compilation of photos and film taken when our Town Crier, Jon Borthwick visited Passchendaele during August. A further event ‘A Nation’s Tribute, A Cry for Peace’, a special and meaningful part of the day’s commemoration of the 100�� Anniversary of the end of WW1 will take place from 18.30 at the War Memorial site.

Zoe most recently taught at ‘st Bedes’ foreign students summer school, and at Brighton’s top drama school ‘ACT’, until recently she was also the drama teacher for the Pauline Quirke Academy, Eastbourne, and directed their summer west end performance. Zoe is also a professional and active actress and singer and therapist of the arts, with years of experience performing. Community Voice I am lucky to live on the cliff top which is the favourite place for dog walking so I have a front row seat from which to watch their antics. Dog walkers, like their dogs, come in all shapes and sizes and are very much people of habit. Same faces, same times, give or take, come rain, wind or shine. Some with their dogs on the lead pulling like mad or being dragged along, others allow their dogs to run free and their freedom shows in their behaviour running ahead chasing their sticks and balls, whereas the older ones waddle behind their owners looking for a good smell and remembering the past. Dog walkers are also very friendly, they always say hello as they pass each other, all carrying their little plastic bags. I won’t say, out of decorum, what their bags are for.

I doubt this would ever happen on the high street which is only 100 yards away because people rush past each other heads down, Why? because they lack The Catalyst, sorry, The Dogalyist. I wonder if everyone owned a dog would the world be friendlier and safer. Its population would certainly be healthier and fitter. Think of the savings to the health budget. But from my observations it confirms the old saying“ A dog is man’s best friend“. It still applies when you see owner and dog together. John Armstrong.

But of course there are the villains: The night walkers. The ”have no little plastic bag” brigade. But they are in the minority. Sometimes little gangs of them stop and gather and have a chat, their beloved pets lay on the ground looking very fed up.

Article (Aether Bios Clinic) Bridgefordâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Best Bites: Osteopathy Tips - VISCERAL OSTEOPATHY Many problems and symptoms associated with the organs of the body can be helped with Osteopathy. If you kneel on all fours, basically all the organs are suspended from the spine, so they can impact on the structure too. Osteopathy has for many years been used to help a variety of problems related to the internal organs of the body, as well as pain form the muscles and joints. Osteopaths help more than back pain, sports injuries and "mechanical" problems. Many patients are not aware that Osteopathy can be used to help internal problems, as they imagine most of the treatments is to the spine. However, many osteopathic techniques resemble soft tissue massage and include many gentle manipulations and stretches that can be applied to all the tissues of the body, as well as many of the organs in the abdomen, chest and pelvis. Osteopathic treatments help improve circulation of blood and lymph, to reduce congestion in the various parts of the body and also help reduce irritation to the nervous system. In this way, Osteopaths can help the body function in a more efficient way and can help the organs work more effectively, thus promoting health and reducing symptoms. Manipulations and treatment to the organs of the body is called Visceral Manipulation (as "viscera" is another name for organs). Osteopaths who use this approach have been called Visceral Osteopaths, though their approach is in fact a normal part of Osteopathy as a whole. Visceral manipulations are gentle and may range from very small movements to deeper stretches. These movements should not be painful and care is taken not to irritate the sensitive tissues. The Osteopath will be aware of possible contra-indications and will treat symptoms where appropriate. If there is a recognised medical complaint this is taken into account. Sometimes the Osteopath will need to correspond with the doctor to clarify diagnosis, although this is not always necessary and your permission is asked first. Additionally, many problems affecting the organs of the body are described as "functional". This means that there is no clear medical pathology and therefore no clear medical treatment.

However, Osteopathy may be able to help as many "functional" conditions seem to be associated with tension and poor movement of the organs, which can often be released with gentle manipulations. Many problems of the organs can be eased to some extent with symptoms being reduced to more manageable levels, or sometimes even resolved completely. This type of approach may be useful for conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, intestinal cramps or bloating, where manipulations can ease spasm and tension in the intestine, allowing food to pass more freely from one part of the gut to the next and it can relieve some cases of indigestion and reflux. It may also help with the pain associated with adhesions and post-operative discomfort and pain, where manipulations can gently ease the contractions around the scar tissue and help the organs and tissues move a little more freely. Respiratory problems such as asthma and bronchitis can be relieved, as many of the muscles of the chest become tight, making breathing more difficult. Relaxing the ribs and chest can help the lungs function more freely, thus reducing some of the distress associated with these conditions and improve breathing. Exercises can also be given to help the patient breathe more effectively. Many pelvic problems, such as urinary incontinence, mild prolapse, some types of pelvic pain and some gynaecological symptoms can be eased by improving the way the pelvis and the pelvic organs move. Osteopaths can also work on the pelvic floor, which is a group of muscles at the bottom of the pelvis, which act to support all the pelvic organs. Some pelvic problems in men such as chronic prostatitis, may also be relieved. These are just some of the problems that may be helped with Osteopathy. Some thoughts from Rev Mark Hake... "At Ascension church families and children are at the heart of what we do as a church. Children are really welcome at our services at 9.30 am every Sunday morning, and we run a crèche and Kids Club, full of fun games, crafts and other activities, alongside the Sunday service. We also have a young adults/families group, which meets fortnightly in an informal setting, as a great way to support, connect, and encourage each other. Tikes and Trikes is a pre school group that meets each Thursday morning in term time in the hall, where there is an opportunity for parents to chat over a cup of coffee, whilst the children are engaged in play. Over the next couple of months we will also be having a children and families Bring and Share Lunch (Nov 4��) a Contemporary Praise Service (Nov 25��) and a Christingle Service (Dec 24��). Harvest festival was a great time of celebration with the church beautifully decorated, a lovely shared lunch and lots of foodstuffs given to The House Project. Remembrance Sunday this year falls on Armistice Day on Sunday November 11��. Please join us for our service at 9.30 am in the church, and our act of Remembrance at 11 am in The Memorial Garden next to the church where we will observe the silence and the names of the local fallen will be read out.

The Alpha course which Claire of The Coffee Haven is kindly hosting for us has been fantastically well attended with nearly 20 folks enjoying the films and conversations each evening in the coffee shop. Also The Bible Course which we are running for the third time has been much appreciated. During October a small but important building project has been undertaken at church. As mentioned above we love children to be part of our services. However on the odd occasion a parent may feel a little ones cries could be a bit too much. We are please to say we have now built a small room at the back of the church where the service can be listened to through loudspeakers and watched through the large glass windows which makes the room soundproof. Parents can still feel part of the service without worrying about noise from the little one. Christmas will soon be here. Full details of the special activities will be in the next edition, but for now you might want to pop the Christingle Service at 4 pm on Dec 24�� and Christmas Morning Service at 9.30 am in your diary. Come early to get a seat.

Good Neighbour VOLUNTEER: Are you a friendly person who can offer support to older people in your local community Telscombe Cliff, Saltdean, Peacehaven and Newhaven. Royal Voluntary Service has a Good Neighbour scheme in Peacehaven, which is entirely managed and run by volunteers. There is a high population of elderly and housebound people in Peacehaven and a clear need for more people who can pop in on a neighbour, offer a friendly face or be able to undertake small errands for them. The Seahaven Good Neighbours scheme is actively seeking new volunteers. We have arranged a coffee and chat morning on the 5�� November at the Big Park Café in Peacehaven from 10:00-12:00, come and meet some of the current volunteers and find out more. Training will be provided and you will be reimbursed for out of pocket expenses. Cycle Seahaven - Latest News! Cycle Seahaven are keen to play a part in the local community and a couple of months ago, CSH assisted Lee Wakefield, Service Manager of Sussex Community Development Association (SCDA) with their open day by organising a ride for Staff and Work Colleagues, who are involved in a bike recycling project. SCDA are a charity who support a range of community activities, helping people gain confidence in the workplace whilst learning new skills. They up-cycle donated bicycles destined for scrap and these are then available to the public to buy. You can find them on Denton Island - great if you are looking for a decent cheap bike to come and join us. Our Ride Leader Co-Ordinator, Mike Winser, organised a route with the assistance of 3 more Ride Leaders - Sarah Winser, Dave Sutton & Roger Lambert. The ride started at the Centenary Park Peacehaven and then 11 riders from SCDA, who were riding bikes that had been up-cycled by themselves, cycled 9 miles via cross country, cyclepaths and road to Denton Island where SCDA were running an open day which Cycle Seahaven supported with the help of Denis Bass and Diane Norman. A great day was had by all and we recieved a lovely repsonse from Lee: 'Hi Mike I wanted to say athank you and the others in your team for playing such a huge part in making the day a success. Your team was a real credit to the club. I wanted to say a special thanks to the way you supported a number of different riders, those who had bike difficulties to encouraging struggling riders to enable everyone to get to the finish point. Really grateful to those who had taken time off work to be there.’ Cycling Without Age: CSH nominated charity this year was Cycling Without Age and at the beginning of October, we were excited by the news that not only was the charity able to afford 1 Tri-shaw, but the Rampion Wind Farm had matched the funds to enable the Charity to purchase 2 Tri-Shaws. Many of CSH members have volunteered to pilot the tri-shaws and these are available to hire, free of charge in order to get those individuals who are isolated either through age or disability, out into the fresh air. We will continue to support the charity to help cover the costs of insurance and maintenance of the bikes and donations will continue to be welcomed. Our Health Rides and Ride the Downs project may have drawn to a close for this year, but don't let that stop you. They will be back next year and bikes are available to borrow, including some ebikes. But, you don't have to wait until then, you can join us on up to 3 rides before becoming a member and reaping the benefits of membership.
