Windows 10 a new beginning... ... or just a makeover Windows XP was generally loved, Windows 7 was liked, Vista was hated and Windows 8/8.1 divides opinion. As the uptake of some new versions of Windows has been slow Microsoft is allowing many customers to upgrade for free. Most Windows 7, 8 & 8.1 versions (except Enterprise) only have to register their interest by clicking on the Win 10 logo on the bottom toolbar on the desktop. Retail it is ÂŁ100. The upgrade is not instant, you join the back of the queue; you will be notified when Windows 10 is ready to install. If you are a Windows 7 user I suggest you create desktop shortcuts to regularly used programs, otherwise you may find them difficult to run. Although there is a Start button in the new operating system it expands into an All Applications menu rather than a All Programs menu. The upgrade installation is straight forward. There is a disclaimer to click on and then the upgrade is off like a runaway train. Do not be surprised if runs for over an hour without asking you any more questions. As I suspected, Windows 10 is fundamentally a tidied up Windows 8.1 with cleaner graphics, with greater consideration given to those using a keyboard and mouse.

Maybe a more accurate name would be Windows 8.2 !

With games coming thick and fast during the first three months of the season, the Magpies are in action seven times in September, of which four games are at home.

Visiting the Sports Park this month are: East Grinstead, Wednesday September 9, kick-off 7.45pm; Walton & Hersham, Saturday September 19, kick-off 3pm; Faversham Town, Saturday September 26, kick-off 3pm and South Park on Wednesday September 30, kick-off 7.45pm. Over the last six months, the club has gone through a transformation. The seating capacity has been increased to 250 and a new stand has been built behind the west goal which can accommodate up 100 standing spectators. Additionally new fencing around the ground has been installed and the overall look of the ground from the outside has been vastly improved.

If you enjoy football and are a lapsed supporter or someone who has never made it to a game, give the club a chance. The social club is always open on match days and you can even enjoy a beer whilst watching the game. And don’t forget, youngsters under 17 get in for free. On the pitch, the highlight of the pre-season games was Haven’s thrilling 1-1 draw with League 2 side Luton Town. The Hatters fielded a strong side which included seven players with league experience. The Church of the Ascension in Peacehaven is celebrating it’s 60�� year on the weekend of September 26�� and 27��. The special church birthday marks an exciting milestone in the life of the church, since its dedication in 1955. We know of 2 local folk who were present in 1955. Are there more? Rev Charlie Goring. On Saturday September 26�� from 12 noon until 2 pm the local community is being invited to a FREE barbecue lunch, either in the grounds or in the church hall. A 1000 invitations are being distributed. Apart from the lunch there will be live displays by the different community groups that use the hall and an exhibition of life at the church. On Sunday September 27�� at 10.30 am there will be a special service of celebration to mark the birthday. As part of the service some new banners which have been made by church members will be unveiled and blessed. This special Sunday service will be led by The Bishop of Lewes, Right Rev Richard Johnson, and the Archdeacon of Brighton and Lewes the Venerable Martyn Lloyd Williams. Mrs Rose Prost. Fans never quite know what to expect when the mercurial Alexander climbs into the ring, but they are guaranteed two things: A 100 per cent display ... and a powerful rendition of the Polish national anthem!

Since the first event was staged in 2013, the shows in aid of the mayor’s charity fund have become established as one of the most popular attractions in Peacehaven, and top promoters Premier Promotions are again planning to pull out all the stops for the Saturday night spectacular on October 24.

It will be the Eagle's first Peacehaven appearance after he was forced to pull out of his intended debut bout in February because of injury.

The programme will include tag team and solo bouts, with the climax to the evening being the all-in rumble in which the wrestlers can only be eliminated by being thrown out of the ring over the top rope, and the last man standing is the winner. Among the stars battling it out for the king of the ring title will be international grappler "The Polish Eagle" Wolf Alexander, who has emerged as one of the superstar performers in British rings since making his debut in the Premier Wrestling Federation three years ago and went close to defeating former American TNA and Ring of Honour title-holder Doug Williams in a PWF championship match.

Macmillan Coastal Garden Trail News Success once again for the hard working organisers and gardeners of the Trail… The 4th annual Macmillan Coastal Garden Trail got off to a wonderful party atmosphere at both Driftwood, home of trail organiser Geoff Stonebanks, in Marine Drive and the Seaford Community Garden, both in Seaford! 2014 TV Gardener of the Year, as voted for by readers of national gardening magazine, Christine Walkden was on hand to cut the ribbon at Driftwood surrounded by many visitors and was serenaded with a group of singers as she entered the Community Garden in the town. Geoff says " I had invited Christine to be the patron several years ago and she readily agreed on the basis that she may not be able to attend the event in person. I was stunned last Autumn when she confirmed she would visit Seaford and open the trail." Geoff tells us he was quite shocked that visitors had travelled the distances they had to see his garden and then view other gardens on the trail. Angela and Gerald Taylor had travelled up from Paignton in Devon. Others from Essex and London as well as the Surrey borders. Geoff says Saturday was a marvellous day with much money raised for Macmillan. The Mayor's along the coast also took time to visit the gardens as well and lend their support. Sunday however was a complete disaster with the dreadful high winds and rain that prevailed most of the day. Many gardens saw no visitors at all, all day. At 21 Tor Road in Peacehaven garden owners Gerard and Duncan were taken aback when the congregation from their church, handed over £137 to help compensate for lost monies due to the weather. Sheena Bourn in Eastbourne took visitors into her conservatory for tea and cake to look out on the garden. Geoff tells of 2 intrepid ladies from Hailsham who phoned to see if he was open before driving to Seaford and spending 1.5 hours in the garden and the heated summer house for tea and cake. Geoff announced that the total monies raised for the event were £6089 has been raised for Macmillan. More can be read about the event at www.macmillangardentrail.co.uk.
