Even as the summer is winding down, the Peachland Community Centre is gearing up for a busy fall season of programs and events. The Recreation Guide provides a variety of community-wide programs that enable you to map out a season of activities for you and your family. My family has always enjoyed sifting through the Guide, and checking out the child, youth and adult programs. There is always a lot to do as the temperatures cool down, including fitness and craft programs and events such as the Fall Fair, Family Glow Run, and Halloween Jack-O’-Lantern walk on the Heritage Park Pier. If you have never tried Pickleball, now is a great time to sign up for a beginner clinic, visit the fitness room, or try some yoga and spin classes. Children and youth can learn to make pottery, play soccer, earn their babysitting certificate, and more, not to mention a host of Boys and Girls Club activities. All these activities have a special social aspect to them, too, as participants get together with old friends and meet new ones. So please enjoy sifting through this fall’s Peachland Recreation Guide, and I will definitely see you out there!

Mini Kickers Soccer Instructor Profile: Coach Randey
Since moving to Peachland in 2015, Coach Randey has been the volunteer instructor for Peachland’s Mini Kickers soccer program and taught over 130 Peachland children. He believes the best way for a young child to learn a team sport is to make it fun and keep it positive. He has found over the years that young kids learn to dribble a soccer ball much quicker if they are playing ‘keep away’ from a coach or parent than if someone is just telling them to go around cones. They should all have a ball at their feet as much as possible. Kids all develop at different rates but if you keep it positive, they will keep coming back because they want to, and will learn individual, team and social skills that will benefit each of them throughout their lives.
