LUKE 24:13-53: WHY STUDY THE BIBLE?
Jesus after Easter?
• And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself. (Lk 24:27)
• They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” (Lk 24:32)
• Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. (Lk 24:45)
There is no way to understand the Bible without Jesus. There is no way to understand Jesus without the Bible.
Without the Word, we …
• Don’t recognize God’s presence (v. 16)
• Fixate on current events (v. 18)
With the Word, we will …
• See God in the ordinary (v. 30-31)
• Realize what is true (v. 33)
• Discover Christ’s peace (v. 36)
• Examine without fear (v. 39-40)
• Learn the larger story (v. 44)
• Remain in disappointment (v. 21)
• Live foolishly and trust slowly (v. 25)
