our values not only reflect what is important to you in life, but they are also the driving force behind everything you do or don’t do. Your values define who you are.
Knowing your values before you start setting your goals, your vision and vision statements is critical to your future level of satisfaction in life. They can give you true clarity, awareness and overall satisfaction. When your values are in alignment with that which you hold true, life becomes far more meaningful and enjoyable. From the way you dress, act, talk, work, and live, to the people with whom you associate and the activities in which you engage, your values are all reflections of who you are at the core. Your values form the root of your character. Example:
Temperance: Eat not to dullness; drink not to elevation. Silence: Speak not but what may benefit others or yourself; avoid trifling conversation. Order: Let all your things have their places; let each part of your business have its time.
Resolution: Resolve to perform what you ought; perform without fail what you resolve.
Frugality: Make no expense but to do good to others or yourself; i.e., waste nothing.
Industry: Lose no time; be always employed in something useful; cut off all unnecessary actions.
Sincerity: Use no hurtful deceit; think innocently and justly, and, if you speak, speak accordingly.
Justice: Wrong none by doing injuries, or omitting the benefits that are your duty.
Moderation: Avoid extremes; forbear resenting injuries so much as you think they deserve.
Cleanliness: Tolerate no uncleanliness in body, clothes, or habitation.
Tranquility: Be not disturbed at trifles, or at accidents common or unavoidable.
Chastity: Rarely use venery but for health or offspring, never to dullness, weakness or the injury of your own or another’s peace or reputation.

our vision is where you are going but not the destination where you will arrive. Let me take a moment to explain that your vision is the picture of your preferred future state. It is the way you want things to be. You won’t arrive at your vision if you get a different vision every year. As you grow in all areas of your life, you will probably have to make some adjustments to your vision statement. During the course of life you will need to self-correct, but it is not intended to be changed completely year after year. Your vision statement is the place where you aspire to be someday, but you will probably never accomplish it. And that is the purpose of the vision statement – to push you further and to force you to become better and grow in all areas of your life. Your vision statement is important because it keeps the flame inside of you alive. A person without a vision is easily distracted. He is likely to quit and achieve less in life. A vision has to be big enough in intensity, magnitude and scale that it scares you a little. Your big vision will force you to become more. You will always keep working toward your vision statement. It is a never-ending process and a long journey to becoming better. Vision Statement Examples:

It provides clarity and gives you a sense of purpose. It defines who you are and how you will live. Your mission statement incorporates the set of values you previously identified. Reid When setting goals, use the acronym SMART; it stands for: Specific: Be precise about what you want to accomplish, that way you will know exactly when you accomplished it. Example: Create an action plan to finish my degree on time.
Measurable: Set milestones along the way to track progress. If possible, try to quantify your results. Example: Increase my annual income by 10% by the end of July.
Actionable: Goals must be reasonable and translatable into an action plan ready for implementation. Make sure every goal you write starts with an action verb (e.g. Start, Begin, Attain, Gather, Create, Implement, Join, Outline, Prepare, Repair, Simplify, Systematize, Eliminate, Complete, Terminate, Upgrade, Finish, etc.) Example: Run for 15 minutes a day five times per week.
Realistic: Goals should be challenging so that they force you to grow and expand out of your comfort zone; they should not be unreasonable in a way that demotivates you to start taking action toward their realization. Example: Lose two pounds per week for the next month.
Timely: Every goal needs a clear target date for its completion. This creates a sense of urgency and forces you to do whatever it takes to complete your goals on time. Example: Complete the proposal tomorrow morning, March 23, 2015 by 10 a.m.
Other Tips for Setting Goals: • Set priorities • Break them down into small manageable tasks • State each goal as a positive statement with a lot of emotional charge • Review them frequently, and do something every day that bring those goals closer and closer • Make sure they are in alignment with your values, vision and mission statements • Fall in love with the process, not the individual events or the final outcome • Reward yourself when you achieve significant milestones • Have a support system in place, including people, processes, and systems • Be committed to never give up, no matter what • Categorize your goals into different types – Immediate goals – can be achieved within a week or two – Short-term goals – can be achieved within three months – Medium-term goals – can be achieved within a year – Long-term goals – take longer than a year 26

Thankfulness
Declarations vs. Affirmations Declarations are powerful statements that can drastically help us to achieve more, faster if we can only learn how to tap the inner resources that we all have. However, the difference between a Declaration and an Affirmation is slight, but powerful. The impact it has in our lives is so profound, that it is worth noting the difference.
Declarations Declarations make something official, formal, and evident. When you declare something, you own it NOW. You are coming from a place of being as opposed to a place of trying to become. When you declare a statement, you act as if you already are that person. This creates a sense of being and triggers your inner resources to do and possess the things that are consistent with that kind of person. Examples:
• I’m healthy (My body and vitality prove that – so you start feeling and acting healthy)
• I’m successful (My results in every single area show it)
• I’m wealthy (My lifestyle makes it visible)
• I’m powerful (My demeanor demonstrates it)
• I’m influential (My ability to captivate, persuade and affect people makes it obvious)
This is critical in the vibrational world (the real world) where all things are created.
Affirmations Affirmations are positive statements asserting that a goal you wish to achieve in the future is already happening but it hasn’t been achieved yet. It is in the present progressive. Examples:
• I’m getting healthier (but I am not as healthy as I would like to be)
• I’m becoming successful (but I am still short of achieving all my biggest goals in life)
• I’m getting wealthy (but I am not financially independent yet)
• I’m becoming powerful (but I’m not as powerful as others that I know)
• I’m becoming influential (but I still have work to do)
Psychologically, this energetic difference in the vibrational world makes it difficult to trigger your inner resources to be, do, have and achieve what you intend in the shortest amount of time possible. Since your mind registers the statements as processes that haven’t been completed yet, this underlines the huge and powerful energetic distinction between affirmations and declarations, and is reflected in the outer world in the form of results. 229

“The first step toward change is AWARENESS. The second step is ACCEPTANCE.” – Nathaniel Branden 1. Challenge yourself to take massive action first thing every morning. 2. Have a success ritual system in place and practice it daily. 3. Challenge yourself with the “How far can I go?” statement. Do it daily – do it often. 4. Your mind is a survival tool whose primary focus is to keep you safe and in your comfort zone. Challenge it. If you don’t control it, it will control you. 5. Practice the “Just for Today” Principle. If it is too much, practice it for smaller durations of time “Just for This Hour, This Minute, or These Seconds.” – Challenge yourself to act in spite of your moods, fears, discomfort or any inconveniences. 6. Fall in love with the process and let the results take care of themselves. 7. Focus primarily on success-producing activities. 8. Remember: If not now, when? If not you, who? 9. Create a Vision Board / Dream Board of the images that represent your ideal lifestyle to use as an incentive to keep you in the direction of your goals in life. 10. Practice Visualization a. Do it frequently – Multiple times during the day. b. Do it for long periods – Spend a couple of minutes on each session. c. Have clarity and vividness – The clearer it is in your mind, the more likely you are to achieve it. d. Use emotions and intensity – You’ll be amazed at the results when you inject positive emotions. e. Write it and revise it daily – Become obsessed with it. 11. Keep in mind Pareto’s 80/20 Rule a. Only 20% of people, activities, events, etc. are critical to you success. b. 80% of people, activities, events, etc. are trivial and of little importance or value to your overall well-being and level of success. 12. Keep in mind Parkinson’s Law: Work expands to fill the time available for its completion. a. The more time you give yourself to complete something, the more time you’ll waste on trivialities, postponing it and procrastinating. b. The less time you give yourself to complete something, the more focused and more strategic you’ll be to complete it in the least time possible.

People with high internal locus of control take 100% responsibility for everything in their lives. They believe in their own ability to control themselves and influence the world around them. They feel they control their destiny and the level of success they experience in every single area of their life. b. People with high external locus of control, blame, complain about, or justify their situation. They blame external events for what they experience in their life. They feel as if the actions of others are outside their control. They feel as if others control their results and their destiny and that they cannot do anything about it. 14. Act with a sense of urgency – your time is limited; your days are numbered. 15. Be fully present in whatever you’re engaged in at the moment. 16. Use an imaginary mental shield to block negative people and negative information from your mind. 17. Everything in life is perception; have the right mindset and focus on solutions and the positives. 18. More than a human being, you are a human becoming; never forget that. 19. Instant gratifications are the biggest enemies of real success. 20. You’re given the gift of life every day, don’t take it for granted. 21. Past-focused people tend to live in the past and be low performers. b. Present-focused people are pleasure seekers and tend to be distracted by unimportant and urgent demands and activities. c. Future-focused people tend to be more ambitious, goal oriented and tend to achieve more in life. 24. Consider Dr. Howard Gadner’s theory on multiple intelligences to tap into your full potential. a. They are less focused on the precision of every moment or task; they are more focused on relationships, rather than time. 26. Know your attitude orientation a. People who are positive tend to have a good outlook on life. They focus on opportunities. b. People who are negative tend to complain and criticize constantly. They focus on problems. 27. Keep in mind the law of forced efficiency. This law states that there is never enough time to do everything, but there is always enough time to do the most important things, and if you push yourself to do something, you’ll always find an easy way to do it. 28. Learn models, systems and frameworks to make sense of the complexities and to have a range of tools at your disposal for determining your priorities in life and getting the important things done. 29. Know your mindset type a. Fixed-minded people tend to have the following characteristics: i. They have static intelligence. ii. They desire to look smart. iii. T hey avoid challenges. iv.
