from the editor "At what point are the lines blurred between what is appropriate and what is inappropriate?" It's time for us to oppose the norm. We must remember that womanhood goes far beyond exposing our bodies and being sexually appealing. It's time for women to celebrate what it truly means to be a woman and I know that this goes far beyond breasts and butts.
LÂ
ately, I've been scrolling on social media and I am so disappointed by what I see. I find that as the years pass, modesty is becoming less of a concern. At what point are the lines blurred between what is appropriate and what is inappropriate? Is this something that we want to pass onto younger women ? Our daughters or nieces? It's time for us to stand up as women and defend our right to be modest.
This issue celebrates refined women. Women who are strong and wise. Woman who are steadfast and focused. Women who are amazing role models to their peers and to younger women. It is my prayer that this issue sparks a generation of women who are strong enough to challenge current ideals on what womanhood is. It is my hope that this issue encourages women to celebrate every part of them, not just their physical appearance.

hen I first decided to become a Christian, I realized that a lot of the friends I kept were not the best people to be around all the time. Don't get me wrong, I love them, but I realized that hanging around them all the time would not help me to become the person that I wanted to be. So, although I still kept in contact with them, I limited the amount of time that I spent with them on a daily basis. IÂ felt prompted to find friends who would help me to grow. Friends that I could also grow with. I prayed that God would place the right people in my life and not long after I was part of a community of young people who were not only a great encouragement to me, but helped me to grow in so many ways. It wasn't long though before I realized that a lot of the "Christian women" were very annoying to me. I felt like they were not humble at all and I felt like a lot of them only competed with each other. To me, they were no different from non Christian women. Being around these woman made me so annoyed that I would often try to avoid them. They always tried to paint this perfect picture of their lives, they spoke about "sinners" like they were the scum of the earth and they always seemed to be preoccupied with marriage or starting some random organization. They were so haughty and seemed above reproach. I wanted my old friends back . I preferred to be around non-Christian women. They (Christian women) all seemed fake to me, even at other churches or in other parts of the world. Was I the problem? Why was I so annoyed by these women? IÂ took my concerns to a very wise friend, who helped me to work through what I was feeling. Below is what I learned from that friend: (1) Christian women are human too- give them the same grace that you would want given to you. Try to get to know them beyond the surface. Do your best to look at them through God's eyes.
"Christian women were very annoying to me... ... I felt like they were not humble at all and I felt like a lot of them only competed with each other."
(2) Lead by example- If you feel like Christian women aren't living up to the standard, you lead with love. Don't allow the actions of other people to deter you. You have no control over people, you only have control over yourself. (3) Pray for them- God can do anything and when in doubt, pray that He would do what needs to be done in both your life and theirs. Overall I've learned that not all Christian women are the same. We are not perfect. Some people may not like me, who knows? So, if you find some women in your circle annoying, don't use it as a measuring stick for all women. When all else fails, love genuinely from the heart. Friendship is a blessing, friendship is sacred. It teaches us about love and sacrifice and looking at other's through heavens eyes.

A ,
I've been dating this guy for about 3 months and he keeps making "smart" comments about the way I dress. He often tells me that I don't show enough skin , that my clothes should "maybe show a little more cleavage" or "be a bit tighter". I'm not sure what I should say to him, but I'm uncomfortable with him always trying to control the way I dress. Please help!
Excuse me , what? I really need you to say that one more time because I cannot comprehend for the life of me why he is forcing you to "show

"You're a refiner. I wanna be consumed. I wanna be tried by fire, purified. You take whatever you desire, Lord here's my life." As beautiful as these words are and as lovely as they are to sing, let's be honest, how many of us actually want to be tried by fire? However, this is what sets us apart. All through the word of God, we read stories of women and men who were tried by fire. Below are a few examples of what I believe it means to be a Refined woman: 1. A refined woman self- reflects: What do you see when you look into the mirror? Mirrors are used to see physical things. When you look in the mirror, you see your reflection- a representation of how you look on the outside. What do we use to see the inside of our bodies? Doctors use CT scans and X-rays for example. However, are there any tools that can be used to evaluate the soul? The Bible can be used for this. Hebrews 4:12 states that "the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires." In Romans 7:15, Paul says "I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do." In Psalm 51, David reflected on the mistakes he made in his life and poured out His heart to God in prayer. The Bible does not just expose our thoughts but it provides tools to make us better. It is important to understand that to become a refined woman we must be pruned by the word of God. We must use it to evaluate our actions and our thoughts. We must cling to it, it must be the standard for our lives.
21| Aug/Sept 2020
2. A refined woman allows herself to be used by God: Esther, Queen of Persia was known for putting her life on the line to save her people. While you may not have the same calling as Esther, there is purpose for your life. Be obedient to God's vision for your life. What talent or resource has God entrusted you with? Are you using it for His glory? What idea has God placed on your heart that you believe aligns with your purpose? I'm sure Esther was extremely nervous when given the task to save her people, but guess what? She did it anyway. 3. A refined woman stays committed to God even in difficult times: Going through difficult times is inevitable, but once we know who is with us, we can handle any difficult thing that is thrown our way. The three Hebrew boys Shadrach, Mesach and Abednego were tried by fire, literally! When they were told that if they did not to bow down and worship the king they would be thrown into the fiery furnace, they continued to stand up for God. As a result of not bowing down, they were thrown into the fiery furnace, but guess what? When the men looked down at these THREE Hebrew boys in the fire, they saw FOUR men. God was with them and as a result, they survived the fire. They came out untouched. Not even smelling like smoke.
22| Aug/Sept 2020
A famous quote that I love is "God never said the weapons won't form, He just said they wouldn't prosper." In life, we all go through difficult times, but it's how we handle those difficult times that truly matters. When we go through rough seasons, we can rest assured that God is always with us and He will help us through. This promise helps us to handle difficult times with poise. This promise helps us to remain committed to God even in the midst of the storm. If you truly want to be a refined woman, it is important for you to self reflect, allow yourself to be used by God and stay committed to God even in difficult times.

WAIT O N

If we’re honest, we’d admit that we’re all waiting for something. Some of you may be waiting to accomplish a goal that you’ve been working towards for years. Others may be waiting on the right guy, or waiting for direction from God for your life. The point is that we all know what it’s like to wait, and if we’re honest again, we’d admit that waiting isn’t always easy. In fact, it can be extremely difficult. For the past three years, I’ve been on a journey with God to become a better version of myself. I asked God to make me “whole”- not in a sense that I wanted to be perfect, but I needed Him to heal me of the emotional wounds that I had been nurturing for years. I asked Him to bring healing to the areas of insecurity, inadequacy, self-doubt, discouragement, and so many more that were constantly attacking my peace of mind and happiness. At the time, I had been reading the Word, and I knew that the way I had been thinking about myself and my life up to that point was not what God had called me to, so I prayed an intentional prayer and began my journey with the Lord. I told God that as He
took me on this journey, I wanted to be healed from these things, and truthfully, when I began to walk the path to healing, I didn’t believe that the healing process would happen overnight, but I did believe that it would happen sooner than later. Fast forward to three years. I’m still on my journey to healing. During this time, there has been tremendous growth. There are areas in my life where I can see the maturity and the healing that God has brought, but can I be honest with you? There is still a lot of growing that I have to do. There are still areas in my life that I struggle with, and although I wish they’d just magically go away overnight, the Holy Spirit always reminds me that the healing that I desire will come, once I continue to remain in Him (John 15:4). What are you waiting for in your life right now? What are you relying on the Lord for? Is it to become a better version of yourself like me, and find wholeness and healing? Is it to accomplish
that goal you’ve desperately been working towards? Is it to become a more refined version of yourself? I encourage you to wait on the Lord, and trust that He is with you on the journey. Most importantly, if you haven’t already, I encourage you to welcome Him into the journey. He will not only lead you on the right path (Psalm 23:3), but He gives you the strength to finish strong (Philippians 1:6). One thing my own journey has taught me is that God’s ways are not like ours, nor are His thoughts like ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). We may not always understand why He doesn’t allow certain things to happen overnight in our lives, but we do know that He is a good Father and He will not withhold anything good from His children (Matthew 7:11). So, I encourage you to wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He will surely strengthen your heart as you continue on your journey (Psalm 27:14). Don’t be discouraged. Don’t give up because it seems as though what you’re believing for is taking too long. Continue to trust God; continue to hold fast to His word and His promises. Continue to wait on the Lord.
GOD NOT ONLY LEADS YOU ON THE RIGHT PATH,HE GIVES YOU STRENGTH TO FINISH STRONG.
Ingredients 1 egg 1/2 cups milk 2 tablespoons butter (melted) 1 1/3 cups flour 3 teaspoons baking powder 1 tablespoon sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/4 teaspoon coconut extract 1/4 cup coconut (shredded) For the Topping: 1/4 cup coconut (toasted) 1 cup powdered sugar 1 to 2 tablespoons whole milk 1/2 teaspoon coconut extract 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions Gather the ingredients. Heat a cast iron griddle or pan on medium heat before you begin. Make sure it is nice and hot and then lower the temperature before you begin cooking the pancakes. Beat together the egg, milk, and melted butter. Whisk in the vanilla and coconut extracts and shredded coconut. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Slowly whisk in the egg and milk mixture. It's okay for the batter to be a little lumpy; be careful not to over mix. Let it sit for about 5 minutes. The batter will puff up. If it is too thick, add a little more milk. Grease the griddle. Spoon the batter in about a 1/4 cup portions on the griddle and let it cook for a few minutes per side. Keep the pancakes warm in a 200 degree F oven. Whisk together the whole milk, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and coconut extract together. Drizzle the glaze over the pancakes and top them with the toasted coconut.

The pyramids in Teotihuacan and the buildings in Yautepec, Morelos, Mexico were also a sight to behold.
B
ienvenido a Mexico, is one of the first things I heard when I landed in the Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juárez. My 6 day vacation had begun and the countdown to my trip had finally come to an end. Over the next few days, I would view the rich architecture, taste delicious foods and enjoy the unique culture that all merged together to give me an authentic Mexican experience. The first thing that struck me about Mexico was the great importance that is placed on its history. During my time there, I went on numerous tours and saw various buildings steeped in Mexico’s Spanish colonial past. The architecture was old, but glorious! Driving through Mexico City on the way to the Reforma district, where my hotel was located, was surprising. Tall skyscrapers filled the sky line, water fountains dotted the round-abouts and palm trees lined the sidewalks. All of this paled in comparison to the beauty that was seen at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe which has two churches, the modern and the old. The modern basilica showcased tall ceilings with beautiful lights on the ceiling and the floor was one of immaculate marble tiles. The ceiling of the old basilica was one that could rival those seen in the Sistine chapel in Italy with paintings dating back to the 16th century.
Unfortunately, the old basilica has evidence of wear and tear as seen by large cracks in the wall from past earthquakes. The building itself is in fact sinking, which is the reason why the new basilica was erected. The beautiful architecture was not only limited to Mexico City. The pyramids in Teotihuacan and the buildings in Yautepec, Morelos, Mexico were also a sight to behold. The pyramid of the sun and the moon were extremely high with views for thousands of miles. Steps were steep leading up to them, but the climb was worth it! My stay in Yautepec was at a cute villa called the Hacienda San Carlos. The Hacienda had long, winding vines that climbed by tall walls which surrounded the property. Lush greenery could be seen during the walk through of the old building. Those along with the brick architecture gave an old colonial feel to the building. Apart from the architecture, Mexico had a lively street food atmosphere. Across from my hotel in Mexico City, the Hilton Reforma, there was a market with various food vendors offering a taste of Mexico. Tortillas, quesadillas, burrito and tortas were filled with various meats and cooked right before my eyes. Prices were cheap and the food was delicious!

Pepper lovers would fall in love with their spicy red and green salsas. In addition to this, they prepared their plantains in a unique way. Plantains were diced, fried and placed on a plate. They were then saturated with mayonnaise, ketchup and condensed milk before being handed over to consumers with a fork. Another popular dish in Mexico was corn. Fun fact: Mexican diet initially consisted of a great deal of corn. This was evident as I passed vendor after vendor selling grilled corn on the cob. Some vendors actually prepared the loose corn kernels in a cup drizzled with mayonnaise, salt, pepper and cream.
The wedding also boasted an authentic Mariachi band playing traditional Mexican music. Wedding attendees danced along as we watched the Mariachi band play and dance while doing so. Overall, Mexico was a great experience. My only regret is that I didn’t see and do more.
The restaurant food was just as delicious as the street food. I ordered steaks that were larger than the plate itself and seasoned to perfection. On the other hand, the menu offered Mexican delicacies such as grasshoppers and cockroaches. I was not brave or daring enough to try these, but my travel companions did. The verdict was that “it was quite chewy”. American favorites such as hamburgers and fries were also on the menu. In addition to the architecture and the food, my favorite thing about Mexico was its strong culture. This was especially seen when I attended a family member’s wedding. Mexican women and men could be seen dressed in gorgeous formal gowns while they danced to salsa music.

Talking about mental illness is still taboo, even in the year 2020. On an individual basis, the stigma that shrouds mental illness is perpetuated by a double dose of fear—the fear of seeking help and the fear of public judgement. Fear is a natural occurrence and is essential for our survival— warning and protecting us from danger. By that logic, one can assume that fear is a positive safeguard. However, not in this case. There is a point where the fear of getting help and the fear of scrutiny, simply put, becomes a problem. Constantly soaking in a bubble bath of blues creates a niche for depression to evolve and thrive. Overtime, depression becomes a constant problematic companion who is difficult to shake, but finds you with ease. Depression blocks full participation in life and manifests in many ways.
Despite what others may think, it is important to find appropriate help, which often includes healthy coping mechanisms. I know, I know… it is easier said than done. Honestly speaking, far too many times, I have ridden my own horse on the tracks of “Despair Drive” with an unwilling, gloomy giddy-up. I missed out on countless opportunities and, for that reason alone, I was eager to chuck up my deuces and offer my faceless frenemy the boot. I make no claims that I am fully off that horse, so I would be remiss if I failed to mention that the sustenance of my mental health takes a lot of effort. More so, maintaining good insight on this journey is imperative. Depression presents herself as a friend and, I stress this heavily, not a very good one either. She is
very infiltrative and sneaky. She self-invites herself into your home, obnoxiously takes a self-righteous seat, and undermines your authority in your own space. Oftentimes, this downlow bully offers her words of “honesty” and, before you know it, the selfabuse rears its ugly head. You start to look at yourself negatively; labeling yourself as pathetic, unlovable, and unworthy. Suddenly, you begin experiencing unexplained aches and pains, you often forget the important stuff, and engage in reckless behaviour. Additionally, depression isolates you from your real friends, bullies you into excessive guilt, lowers your motivation, pushes you to become easily angered, makes you feel drained, promotes unhealthy hygiene, sleeping and eating practices and, unfortunately, may even drive you to self-harm.
In that self-isolation, the problems of the world may seem easier to digest. I can even go as far as saying that you may begin to feel comfortable and safe around this frenemy—avoiding facing the disappointments and hurts that burden you.. Although this remote safety may feel warm, this is risky business that takes courage to combat. Left with no intervention or untreated, depression can become a serious health condition. It is important for me to remind you that the feelings of hopelessness and helplessness are the symptoms that you experience from depression, and it is not the reality of your circumstance. No matter how great the despair may feel, there is hope in getting and feeling better. As cliché as it may sound, you are never alone. 1 out of 6 people will succumb to depression during their lifetime.
It does not see ethnicity, socioeconomic status, nor gender. Depression does not discriminate, humans do. On a lighter note, with help and proper treatment, many have recovered from the bouts of depression. During this current COVID-19 climate, it is important to find ways to let depression know that you no longer require her services. With depression, it is easy to fall into darkness and very hard to climb out. As it stands, many of us are still at home practicing social distancing or quarantined. The present events of the world are bleak, and this creates a suitable atmosphere for depression to flourish. Coping with depression is a task, but before I get into some tips, I would highly recommend that those who have any suicide and/or violent ideations, as well as frequent, recurrent episodes of depression seek proper counsel and treatment from a licensed authority.
Remember that the tips I'm about to provide are not a quick fix, improvement in mood will take place over time: 1) Recognize that you cannot recover on your own. Yes, it takes effort on your end, but a support system is important. Those who love you, even when you feel unlovable, will always want what is best for you. These are the people who will listen to your thoughts, motivate you, ensure that you know you are loved, push you to seek therapy and, when applicable, will encourage you to take your medication. If possible, they will not allow you self-isolate, but you must let them in. 2) Be realistic about what others can do. Just as your support system will try to be there for you, be mindful that they cannot make recovery efforts on your behalf. Your loved ones can help you decide how to proceed seeking help, they can check on your progress, attend therapy sessions with you, and encourage you. However, they can
only do their best, so do your best to meet them halfway. 3) Track triggers and symptoms. Identifying the signs of depression early on may help to avoid a major depressive episode. This way, you are able to enlist your coping mechanisms swiftly and seek professional help if you notice that your mood has been down for over 14 days. A good way to do this is by using a diary to document important events, mood changes, symptoms, and changes to daily routines. This can also help your doctor, if you are seeing someone professionally. 4) Make a bedtime routine. Symptoms of depression include an increase and decrease in sleep, so the implementation of a bedtime routine and sleep schedule can prove to be helpful. A lack of sleep, especially, can exacerbate other depressive symptoms. Going to bed and waking up at the same time each day can help combat the changes in sleep patterns. A sleep routine can
include scheduling a bedtime, not eating close to your bedtime, taking a night bath, drinking your favorite tea, reading a book, avoiding screen time (phone or TV), cutting off the lights, writing in a journal, and perhaps listening to some background music. Â 5) Get moving. Attempt staying out of your room. Go outside as much as possible. Take a walk around the corner, walk your dog, or play an outside family game. Exercise releases endorphins, which are happy chemicals that improve your mood. 6) Recognize the importance of self-care. As simple as having a clean room, taking daily baths, and creating other good hygiene habits can boost your mood. Self-care is essential for good mental and physical health. Engage in activities that help you look after your well-being. These activities can include reading, gardening, going to the gym, painting, or drawing. Do an at-home facial,
practice your makeup skills, or fix your hair— sometimes looking good helps you to feel good. Relaxing, recharging and connecting with self are the goals of the game. If this means saying no to others and saying yes to yourself a bit more, do so.
medication and bring about some horrible side effects. Other foods such as caffeine and sugar can adversely affect the mood as well. Increasing foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids can help enhance a good mood.
7) Seek spiritual or religious guidance. When you’re depressed, keeping the faith is hard. Some people find solace in reading their Bible, listening to gospel music, and attending church. Sometimes, being surrounded by the joy of the Lord places most in better moods.
Depression is more than feeling sad—it is medical condition that affects both mind and body. It is important to know when to seek medical help. Recovery is different for everyone and may take a while for different people. Treatment outside of medication and therapy include lifestyle changes as well. What is most important is that we are able to recognize depressive symptoms to avoid staying stagnant in the blues. If you’re in The Bahamas, I recommend reaching out to the Community Counselling & Assessment Centre on Collins Avenue or the Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre, especially if you feel as though symptoms are beyond your control.
8) Avoid alcohol and eat a mood boosting diet. I can understand that alcohol may help one feel better in the moment, but it is a depressant that will only make your circumstance even more unbearable. Alcohol helps to trigger episodes and exacerbate your mood. More so, for those on medication, alcohol can interact with your

ou version bible app has become one of my favorite apps. That is where I get daily Bible verses and above all, I get to read daily devotionals on different topics. The app has been so helpful in building my faith. Just the other day, I was searching for a daily devotional to read. To be specific, I wanted something to do with health. Mainly because I have been experiencing issues with my health lately. I needed something to build me up and give me the boldness to stand strong. In my pursuit of this, I ran into a Bible plan called Hope In The Midst of Suffering ~ The Kara Tippetts Story. I won't go into details of the devotion, but it's about a young woman who struggled with breast cancer and how she maintained a positive attitude throughout her suffering. As I started to read the devotion, I learned that she went on to be with the Lord. But wait, this is not how I wanted it to turn out. I wanted a victorious ending. I wanted a "happy" ending. You know, one where she was able to beat the cancer and is now living her life. But no . That wasn't the case. If I can be honest, I didn't want to continue with the devotional anymore because I felt that that particular devotional wasn't what I needed at that time. I was looking for something more. But you know what? I think I needed it. Sometimes, life can be messy. Sometimes, things don't turn out the way we expect them to.

How many of you have prayed for something and God didn't give you what you wanted? Maybe you prayed for a loved one to be healed, only for them to pass on .Maybe you prayed for God to save your marriage, only for it to end up in a divorce. Maybe you're that parent who has tirelessly prayed for your child, only for him/her to continuously make the wrong choices. Maybe you're the dad who has been praying not be laid off from work, only to meet a termination letter on your desk. Maybe you're the woman who has been praying to conceive and no sooner it happens, you suffered a miscarriage. Maybe you're the unmarried guy/girl who has attended countless weddings only to never have it happen for you. I can go on and on. But through all of this, through the pain, the doubt and the uncertainty, we can choose to be hopeful . We can choose to keep our peace. We can choose to trust God even when we don't understand Him. Even when we don't understand why things happen the way that they do, we can trust that God cares.
Remember the comforting words of John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” That is one of my favorite Bible verses. It assures us that yes we will pass through pain in this world, but we can rest in the peace that surpasses all understanding. The peace that the world doesn't give. The peace ONLY JESUS ,the PRINCE OF PEACE can give. Maybe this article has found you in a dark season. A season full of pain and so many questions. No matter the situation you are in right now , I want to direct you to the Prince of Peace. I pray that He finds you where you are in your mess, in your pain and in your doubt. I pray that He wraps His arms around you and overwhelms you with His peace. I pray that He breathes into your soul hope and gives you strength to stand once again. Hugs, Lucy.

Myah Newman 52 | Oct/ Nov 2019
M
yah caught the attention of members of our team with her makeup page on Instagram. After interviewing her, we grew to love her so much more. Hearing all that she had to say inspired us in ways that we weren’t even prepared for. We salute women like Myah. Women who are real. Women who are not afraid of their stories. Women who although encountered fire, emerged refined. Myah is an accountant at one of The Bahamas’ top accounting firms. She is also a professional makeup artist and a wife. Although she is such a revolutionary, Myah admits to enjoying the simple things like a good episode of Grey’s Anatomy and HGTV . Growing up in Nassau Bahamas, Myah shared with us that at 15 years old, she began playing around with her mother’s makeup. Not long after, people were requesting her talents. Unfortunately, Myah lost her mother. After losing her mother, she shared that she felt she had “lost a degree of spiritual protection”. She further shared, “I started partying a lot more. I also got involved in a number of romantic relationships that I regretted deeply”. Myah admitted that after the death of her mother, she “spiraled more and more out of control”. Then, God intervened. She shared an experience that changed her life forever. She recalls being in her room and hearing God speak to her. In that moment, Myah states that she was being questioned about where she would spend eternity if she were to lose her life that very night. Myah opened up and explained that, that night marked the beginning of a change of heart for her. Many years have passed since that night and Myah is still steadfast in her relationship with God. Isn't that amazing?
We wanted to know more about her work as a makeup artist and the challenges she faced in building her brand. Myah mentioned that her biggest challenge is comparison. She shared, “I often struggle quite a bit with comparing myself, my craft and my brand to other makeup artists. Which, when you think about it, is so pointless because makeup is art!" We related so much to this, as we know comparison is something many women struggle with. Myah went on to share that it was difficult for her to find her own niche in the makeup game. However, she also mentioned that she tries her best to be true to who she is and what she loves. Now, she reminded us that this does not mean that she confidently scrolls down Instagram and Youtube every day without feeling any emotions of ‘inadequacy’; however, she now appreciates that her clientele is shaped by her art. This inspired us a lot. As women, we should always be true to who we are and confident in what we have to offer. When asked about the past few years of her life , Myah shared that she has been delving into fitness for the past 2 years and is very proud of the weight she’s lost. She admitted that exercising and healthy eating were always a struggle for her; however, she is proud of the discipline that she’s gained in this area. Myah, who is now 28 is happily married. When asked about married life she responded, “Boy oh boy, married life haha. It definitely takes work and intentional action.” She shared with us that she and her husband got married in July of 2017 and has had such an amazing journey thus far. She further explained that the journey is filled with extreme highs and some noteworthy lows. Nevertheless, she thanks God for her husband daily. Myah shared that she thinks

Ensure that the lipstick compliments your complexion. Lipstick choice should not be random. Choose shades that add warmth and light to your skin. Avoid colors that are abrasive and takes away from the overall look of the makeup.

Endometriosis andrelle burrows
Endometriosis is unfortunately seen in many women globally. The average age of diagnosis is twenty-seven. However, some teens also suffer from this disease. Endometriosis involves the excess growth of uterine tissue in other parts of the body, commonly the reproductive system. Uterine tissue stems from the uterus, which is also known as the womb of a female. The female reproductive system is made up of many parts such as the uterine tubes, the ovaries, and the cervix. Unfortunately, excess uterine tissue can grow on any of the aforementioned parts leading to pain, discomfort, and infertility in a number of cases. Endometriosis can also cause painful periods and bleeding between menstrual periods.
Women who have been diagnosed with endometriosis tend to be concerned about their reproductive health. They may experience difficulties becoming pregnant, but it is not impossible. I personally have heard some testimonies of women being able to bear children while having this condition. For example, Allyson Rowe, a well-known preacher, recently gave birth to a healthy baby boy despite being diagnosed with endometriosis. All hope is not lost, a diagnosis of endometriosis does not mean that you won't ever be able to conceive.
Sometimes, women who are not suffering from any illnesses also struggle with infertility. Luckily, there are some ‘superfoods’ that might help with this issue, such as foods high in monounsaturated fat (healthy fat) like avocados and nuts. Women struggling with infertility should also consume foods that have a low glycemic index, but a high fiber content. For example, whole grains like brown rice, oatmeal, and whole-wheat bread. Getting most of your iron from vegetable sources like chickpeas, kale and beans, instead of meat sources would also be a great idea. There is no cure for endometriosis; however, if you suspect that you have endometriosis talk to your gynecologist as soon as you can.Â
Side Hustles for 2020
SECURE THE BAG This COVID-19 Pandemic has taken the world by surprise. A lot of small businesses have taken a blow and many persons were laid off from their jobs. As such, the team decided to share 5 creative side hustles that you can pursue to make extra income. Overall, we encourage you to be true to yourself, be true to your talents and to make the best use of the resousrces that you currently have.
Online Tutoring
1
What subjects are you proficient in? What area have you perfected that you can teach to others? Take some time to brainstorm and maybe pursue tutoring online for a fee. Remember that you want to provide a quality service. Don't just do because you can. Do it with excellence. With this pandemic in place, face to face tutoring more than likely is out of the question. However, there are no rules hindering you from hosting tutoring sessions online.
Host A Masterclass Tutoring not your thing? Host a masterclass instead. Find out what you're good at and teach it to those willing to learn. This can include anything from jewelry making to essay writing. However, be creative and wise about your choices. You'd want to provide a class on something that is in high demand. It doesn't make sense hosting a masterclass on something people care nothing about.
3
2
Set Up An Online Store If you have the capital, why not? Online shopping isn't going anywhere. Take advantage of sites that offer drop shipping. Again, ensure that the product is a sound investment. The last thing you want is to invest money into something that will reap no returns.
Work As A Virtual
4
Assistant There are entrepreneurs out there who still need help. Reach out to local small businesses and offer paid services as a virtual assistant. Don't shut the idea down before giving it a try. You'd be surprised to know how much you can actually make from this.
Become A Virtual
5
Party Planner Life events are not cancelled. People are still celebrating birthdays, having gender reveal parties and getting married. Help people bring their special moments to life on a virtual platform. Make the events fun by providing virtual games and entertainment. Be creative with your approach.

Are those pandemic pounds adding up? If you're one of the lucky few to avoid gaining a little weight in these past few months, well this article is not primarily for you. Just kidding. Well, sort of. Many of us honestly find it hard to be at home all day and not frequent our kitchens. This, coupled with emotional eating, has really taken a toll on the waistlines of many. However, fear not. Help is here. I am going to give you some practical and easy ways to cut those pounds down before the end of the year.
pandemic pounds adding up? Before we begin, I just want to remind you that we are in a pandemic and if you've gained a few pounds it is okay. Stop constantly looking in the mirror and criticizing yourself and your body. You are beautiful, give yourself the props you deserve. Second, remember that exercise is not just something we do for weight loss, but for life. You should be exercising weekly to ensure good heart health and exercise is part of a healthy lifestyle! So, I encourage you to not only exercise to lose weight, but to keep off the weight and live a healthy life. Exercise also helps with
stress. Now...for those exercise tips that I promised! Tip number 1 - find an exercise buddy. Never take the power of accountability for granted. There is power in numbers. If you are serious about sticking to your exercise regimen, find someone who will encourage you to keep going on the days you just don't feel like exercising. Tip number 2- keep it simple. You'd be surprised what 15-25 minutes of daily cardio can do. You don't have to overwhelm yourself with fancy or intense workouts. To start, you just have to get your body moving and get that heart rate up.
You don't have to overwhelm yourself with fancy workouts Tip number 3- if you can't afford a trainer, use YouTube. Yes, I said it! There is nothing wrong with having a personal trainer; however, if you simply cannot afford one why beat yourself up? YouTube has tons of free material from professionals that you can access in less than a minute. All you need is a stable WiFi access. You
don't even need a mat or equipment. You can simply search exercise regimens that do not require equipment. The beauty of YouTube is that you can find workouts that suit your mood. If you're feeling a hip-hop workout, there are many on YouTube. If you're looking for a Pilates workout, again, there are many on YouTube. The choices are all yours to make. Tip number 4- Be consistent. I know that this is easier said than done, but consistency really is key. Try to be as consistent as possible. Doing 15-20 minute workouts daily trumps working out for an hour 1 day here and there. The little all add up. So, embrace consistency. Keep fighting for consistency. If you missed today, start fresh tomorrow. Don't ever stop working towards your goal. Lastly, have fun. Love your body. This journey is not one of self-hate, but of self-love. Even though you desire to lose weight, don't hate the body that you currently have. It is yours for the keeping. So, embrace every curve, embrace every stretch mark, embrace every imperfection. No one can love your body like you would! And again, remember to have fun! You've got this!
