Using the Common Core State Standards with Special Learning Needs Participants will: • examine what the CCSS mean for students with special learning needs. • consider frameworks for implementing the CCSS for ELA and Math and explore how to accommodate instructional needs.
By the end of the session, participants will be able to: • Navigate the organizational structure and language of the CCSS, and understand how they apply to students with special learning needs. • Identify appropriate accommodations to ensure maximum participation of students with special learning needs as part of the CCSS implementation. • Practice unpacking a few standards as examples of how to differentiate instruction for special populations. • Determine key strategies to adapt instruction in the content areas for students with special learning needs.
