NEW COLUMBIA BUSINESS SCHOOL FXCOLLABORATIVE Construction administration for the new Columbia Business School in Manhattan, New York City. The new facilities develop in 492,000 square feet across two buildings and will create multifunctional spaces that foster a sense of community. Between the two buildings will be the largest planned open area in phase 1 of construction—an approximately 40,000-square-foot area known as The Square. The building’s internal spaces are organized around two distinct networks that foster informal interaction between the student and faculty of the school. Each network is a combination of circulation routes, lounge spaces, dining facilities and study rooms that facilitate planned and unplanned interaction 24 hours a day. Where these networks meet the landscape at the street-level urban layer, major public spaces are established: in one building, a two-story, urban-scale living room, and in the other, a terraced interior space that doubles as a 300-seat large conference space.

where photovoltaic arrays are anticipated to supply 100% of the energy demand through on-site solar energy generation. The 7,000 sf structure includes a boat house, an office area, a nature classroom and multipurpose community room. It was awarded the NYC Public Design Commission Award and has been featured in the New York Times. The project uses a number of energy efficiency strategies, including a 48kW photovoltaic system, a highly insulated envelope, extensive daylighting, seasonally shaded vine screen and a ground source heat

TRADITIONAL HIGH-END RESIDENTIAL BORIES AND SHEARRON ARCHITECTS Traditional high-end residential architecture firm. Work includes new construction, complete restorations, interior alterations, and garden design. As an intermediate ArchitectI was responsible for the quality and aesthetics of all drawing sets including two landmark high-end residential projects in New York City and a 8,000 sf residence in East Hampton, NY. Intermediate Architect: Schematic Design trough Construction Documents. Member of a 5 person team. Worked directly under the supervision of the Principals and Studio Director.

LAIFEX BUILDING, IFCA OFFICE BUILDING FOR FINANCIAL CENTER The 10-person team at Orbitarq Architects were the architects of record for the project. I was involved in developing a BIM model to produce construction documents and city permits. The master plan and building design was developed by Bernard Tschumi Architects. The offices are arranged in a ring around a central court, which contains meticulously groomed gardens as well as some public parts of the program, including a press center and auditorium. A gourmet restaurant replaces the traditional office cafeteria, and much of the ground floor is given over to an immense data center, capable of processing the enormous complexity the changing business of finance. Most visitors arrive at the project by bus from a transit center, removing security and traffic from the building. VIPs have a separate entrance. As a symbol for the project, the tower proved to be an important design component for the project. Meant to house conference rooms and offices for VIP tenants, as well as event facilities, the tower provides both a symbol for the new district and, from inside, an overview of the financial campus, the leisure facilities and ocean club, and residential areas to come.

LA PUNTILLA URBAN DESIGN COMPETITION Mention of Honor (Urban Design): Architectural Landscape of La Puntilla (2009). The project is focused on the rehabilitation of the urban area of La Puntilla, in San Jose de Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. The goal is to achieve touristic and local engagement in the Puerto Plata region with a focus on the urban area of La Puntilla. The rehabilitation of the abandoned historic monument in the coast would engage the local community, by providing spaces for recreation and outdoor activities that promote cultural development and physical activities. An amphitheater, outdoor seating, new landscape design, parking and a new street section that re-defines the relationship between cars and pedestrians, will increase the flux of people in the underused area. CASA BOSQUE SUMMER RESIDENCE Showcase: X International Architecture Biennale of Santo Domingo We began the design exploration through conversations and sketches on concepts of what we thought an utopian tropical house space would be. Re-thinking the boundaries and convectional architectural elements that define space, such as walls, windows and doors. This response led us to Casa Bosque, where the space re-defines what we consider interior/exterior boundaries and blends it all together. The house is thought as a flexible and adaptive entity that will respond to the site, and blend in it. These variables are conditioned by the topography, climate and vegetation of the site. MINERI X HIGH-END RESIDENTIAL BUILDING Mineri X is a11-story high-end residential building with 8 apartment units, a 2-story penthouse and ground level parking. Our intervention included the design development of the project’s facade and social areas on the ground level. It was inspired by the 2013 apartment market’s trend in the city of Santo Domingo with a focus on a contemporary look, bold colors and the use of pre-cast concrete, colored concrete and an illuminated facade. METAPHORS MIMESIS IN ARCHITECTURE Architectural Thesis Award: XI International Architecture Biennale of Santo Domingo The project is based on a design exploration of the production process of sugar cane. The popular sweetener has a leading role in the economical and social development of the region. The project main space is used as a museum, containing art and history of the region. Community class rooms, an indoor auditorium and an amphitheater are also for the use of the locals and the general public. A restaurant with a view of the sea is located at the top level of the building.
