PEDDADA Shifts the Paradigm for Seating Comfort! The Brand “PEDDADA,” established in 1999, is a high-end designer brand, that purveys esoteric, exotic, and visually stunning handcrafted home&-office accessories and furnishings. Peddada represents a quantum shift in contemporary decorative aesthetic. Aesthetic, not held hostage by limited vision, corporate budgets or manufacturing limitations. The Peddada design-&-operating philosophy is founded on fanatical passion in pursuit of aesthetic rarity, originality and quality. The brand’s product introductions are singular design events that have been celebrated and featured in the world’s most respected design-culture publications.
The KYOTO Rationale: Designed by Raju Peddada, the basis of KYOTO’s design philosophy is the Japanese “TATAMI” mat concept, with its legendary ergonomic benefits of a firm organic surface. In similitude, the sofa is crafted with a resilient hard foam, in a wide surface to work, relax and play. It’s a radical departure from the prevailing “me-too” luxury sofa design cliches. KYOTO brings forth the Zen sensibilities in the majesty of restraint, and the geometric sophistication of the minimal. The design evokes warmth, homeliness, and timelessness, while being utterly functional in its beauty. KYOTO Design Typology: The sofa was designed after extensive research-study on urban lifestyle demands and attitudes. It comes with several proprietary (Patent Pending) original features that had never been on a sofa before. It’s an optimal spatial alternative to the space hogging modular-sectional cliches that pervade the luxury market. KYOTO’s understated design cannot be pigeon-holed into a given category, it’s stands alone in its own visual idiom. The Kyoto sofa is the biggest component of the ensemble that also consists of a love seat, club chair with an ottoman, and a coffee table, in the same vernacular.
Design Originality & Craftsmanship: From the start, PEDDADA has been the pedigree for uncompromising originality. So much so that, when the brand’s 9th generation Italian silversmith advised that only 39 handcrafted units per design could be hand wrought and delivered, the brand readily agreed, forgoing, potentially, a windfall in profits if mass produced in other metals. A mass market presence was secondary to design originality and quality. The brand had not deviated from that in their other products. The same philosophy is at work for the KYOTO sofa, to be made in very small batches, from scratch.
