PUTRAJAYA MOSQUE One of the world’s most modern mosques, the Putrajaya > Mosque faces the beautiful Putrajaya Lake and is considered as the most famous landmark in Putrajaya. A good example of how far the evolution of Malaysian mosque design has gone, the Islamic architecture of the Putrajaya Mosque blends artistically indigenous craftsmanship and designs of traditional origin using material indigenous to the region. Modeled from the Islamic architecture of Persia during the Safavid era, the mosque has also incorporated Muslim cultural elements into the design. The Putrajaya Mosque incorporates the architectural styles of Persia, Malaysia, and Arab-Islam resulting in the mosque’s main entrance resembling the Muslim Persian public structure gates. The 116 meter minaret of the mosque was influenced by the Sheikh Omar Mosque’s design in Baghdad. Meanwhile, the mosque’s basement wall looks very much like the one in Casablanca, Morocco, the King Hassan Mosque. The mosque’s pinkish color is due to the rose tinted granite that was used to build it. The desert pink color complements the cengal woodwork on the windows, doors, and panels The Prayer Hall is elegant and simple with twelve columns supporting the main dome which is thirty six meters in diameter. Khat (or Islamic calligraphy) decorates the niche that shows where to face Mecca or “mehrab”and the pulpit or “mimbar”. hile the i3 is an everyday city car albeit a very sophisticated one at that, the second member of BMW’s new i series that made its way to Frankfurt is an altogether different concept. Derived from the 2009 Vision EfficientDynamics study, the futuristic-looking i8 will enter production in 2013.

iding under the lightweight CFRP for skin is an extended range hybrid drivetrain comprising of a front-mounted electric motor sourced from the i3 and a rear-mounted 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder petrol unit. The gasoline
unit drives the rear wheels through a dual clutch transmission, while the electric motor uses a twin-speed transmission to turn the front wheels.

ombined maximum output of the two drive systems is 349HP and 550 Nm (405.6 lb-ft) of torque, which makes it more powerful than the previousgeneration M3. The sprint to 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) takes just 4.6 seconds and top speed is electronically limited at 250 km/h (155 mph).

The Orang Utan sanctuary is located within the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve, much of which is virgin rainforest. About 60 to 80 orangutans are living free in the reserve. It is one of Sabah’s top tourist attractions and a great stopover on any Malaysia itinerary.

Is Lionel Messi the best soccer player of all time? The diminutive genius breaks the record for the most goals scored in a calendar year and is being talked up (again) as the sport’s ultimate hero By Ryu Spaeth | December 10, 2012 Soccer is not usually considered a sport for number crunchers. Unlike baseball fans, for example, who often use players’ statistical breakthroughs Joe DiMaggio’s 56-game hitting streak, Ted Williams’ .406 batting average in 1941 to define greatness, soccer aficionados pride themselves on finding greatness in moments of grace: Diego Maradona weaving through a field of players, or Dennis Bergkamp bringing down a long-range pass with the lightest of touches. The only number that really matters is one, the minimum number of times most of soccer’s legendary players have won the World Cup. And even that standard doesn’t apply to the likes of Johan Cruyff or Eusebio, both of whom made it into the top tier on the strength of superb control, wondrous goals and deft footwork. Despite the soccer world’s relative indifference to stats, Barcelona’s Lionel Messi is being talked up again as the greatest player of all time after scoring his 86th goal of the calendar year this weekend, breaking a 40-year record held by the German striker Gerd Mueller. (Watch all 86 goals below.) Messi has managed to average 1.3 goals per game more than many entire teams manage, as non-soccer fans might drily note. “At times the consistency can serve to make [Messi’s achievement] seem mundane,” says Sid Lowe at Britain’s The Guardian, “but it is exactly that consistency that makes it so extraordinary. The stats reinforce that fact.” Indeed, the only player who seems capable of breaking Messi’s record is Messi himself, who, at 25 years old, has much of his career ahead of him.
The case for Messi as the greatest of all time is also inextricably intertwined with the performance of his club, Barcelona, which has ushered in a golden era of soccer perhaps last matched by the great Brazilian teams led by Pele. Barcelona’s tiki-taka style of lightning-quick passing and constant movement, as well as its success on the European stage, where it has won the UEFA Champions League three times in the Messi era, have led many commentators to deem it the greatest club of all time. Barcelona has also left its mark on the international stage: Seven of Spain’s starting 11 players on its World-Cup winning squad of 2010 hailed from the club.

Which brings us to the unavoidable argument against Messi: He has yet to win a World Cup, which while not enough to rob a player of greatness is incompatible with the status of “greatest.” Argentine by birth, Messi has been plagued on the international stage by abysmal coaching and, perhaps, difficulty in adjusting to a style of soccer that isn’t tiki-taka. As someone who has been named FIFA’s player of the year three times, and who has provided more magical moments than one can count, Messi is doubtlessly exceptionally gifted. But he can’t be considered a contender for the best of all time, alongside Pele, Maradona, and Zinedine Zidane, who, for example, lifted (at times single handedly) a solid supporting cast of players into a World-Cup winning team. The infamous 8-inch version of the iPad has wallowed in the rumor mill for months. Now, some outlets are reporting that the device is actually going into a manufacturing phase. LinkedIn Today now provides original content from “thought leaders” and allows you--whether you are connected to the person or not--to follow those individuals, comment directly on their posts, share their content with your network, etc. Currently only “influencers” can be followed (Richard Branson has over a million) but it’s safe to assume that someday all users will be able to directly post their own content and build their own followings. What’s next? I don’t know. All I know is something will be next. Pay attention, look ahead, and start positioning yourself now. Smart people get the most out of a tool. Really smart people do too, but they also plan for how to get the most out of what a tool may become.

Two workers buried alive while working below ground SUNGAI PETANI: Two construction workers died while one was injured after the pit they were working in collapsed at a housing development site in Ambangan Heights here. The deceased were identified as P. Morgan, 39, and S. Saravanan, 25, from Bedong, while the injured victim was their employer Ng Jun Chuan, 45. The incident occurred at about 10.30am yesterday when they were working on sewage piping below ground level. The three of them were inside a 5m-deep pit when the ground caved in. Sungai Petani Fire Station chief Rosdi Ismail said the trio were with another co-worker who was helping them from ground level. He added that Ng managed to escape with the help of that worker. “Ng suffered injuries and was sent to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital for treatment,” said Rosdi when met yesterday. عظمة األجزاء متناهية الصغر ملصنع بياجيه رشعية معرتف بها تاريخياً يف قطاع آخر وهو الساعات فائقة الرقة. منذ سنة ،1957أي منذ إصدار حركة بياجيه 9Pذات السمك البالغ 2مم ،صنعت العالمة بفضل خربتها يف هذا املجال عددا كبريا من العيارات املعقّدة وإصدرت إحدى أشهر مجموعات العالمة وهي مجموعة ألتيبالنو .م ّهدت هذه املجموعة الطريق ملوديالت عديدة أتاحت للعالمة احتالل الريادة يف مجال الرقة الفائقة ،ومن بينها تجسد مهارة العالمة يف مجال ترصيع الحركات الهيكلية ساعة "دانسري" الهيكلية التي ّ بالحجارة الكرمية. وبالفعل ،فهذه الساعة هي أرق ساعة ميكانيكية مرصعة بالحجارة الكرمية يف العامل .أُضف َيت عليها رشاقة الذهب األبيض املستخدم خاصة يف الساعات واملجوهرات الفاخرة .والرقة القائقة لعلبة الساعة تتناسب متاماً مع خربة الدار يف مجال ترصيع الحجارة الكرمية .ال يقوم بهذه العملية الفنية الدقيقة إالّ املرصعون البارعون وذوو الخربة .تطلب تطوير هذه القطعة قرابة 700 ساعة و 325ساعة من الرتصيع بالحجارة الكرمية .ويف هذا املوديل املجهز بالعيار واملرصع بالحجارة الكرمية ،تتألأل حوايل 1194ماسة بقطع بريانت وباغيت، 838D ّ ويبلغ إجاميل وزنه حوايل 31.8قرياط .تبدو هذه الحركة خفيف ًة رشيق ًة وكأنها تحلق يف الهواء ،وزُينت بتطريز وتخريم فاخرين يتناسبان مع مرونة السوار األنيق ومع الراحة التي يوفّرها.
