Greetings friends. August sneaked up on us without warning. The summer is almost over, and school is around the corner. Maybe the reason it seems like this season has rushed past is that we are trying to make up for the lost time in 2020. And, take my word for it; there is plenty more to come. We have a lot happening in the upcoming months, school openings, business openings across Town Center, Teas, Octoberfest celebrations, benefits and social events. This edition of the Gazette is dedicated to celebrating anniversaries, a new school opening, community involvement, and just people---your friends, neighbors, and of course, our kids. The Gazette loves to brag on our kids. Many of you already know Tracie and Roy who own and operate Webb's Automotive of Cypress. They are celebrating their 26th year in business, ten here in Cypress. There is a good reason they are so successful, as you will soon read. The 4th @ Fairfield was a roaring success. The community came together, some participating and the others cheering them on. We've included as many photos as space would allow. We have a lot happening in and around Cypress; please plan on attending some of the events so that you can meet your neighbors. And, if you think of a good story or see a kind gesture, please let us know. We love to publish positive stories. Please get in touch with me at jackiedevine@peelinc.com for your questions, ideas, or opinions. By Jackie Devine Looking back a few decades, it seems running a small business was a lot simpler. You found a location, opened a shop, and put up a sign—no heavy investment in advertising, social media, or hiring a sophisticated sales team. Your success depended on your reputation and how you interacted with the community and your customers. It was about doing the right thing, adding value, and watching your customer walk away feeling well-served. Well, I want you to know that there are still companies operating that way in Cypress, Texas. One of them is right in our own backyard. It's family-owned and operated Webb's Automotive. And that's the good news. That is great news if you are like me. With the cost of new cars skyrocketing, like five times what I paid for my first home, I want to keep my car as long as I can and get as many miles of economical, trouble-free driving as possible. Roy and Tracie, the owners of Webb's Automotive, and their employees are helping me do that. Everyone on the team cares about me and my car! For example, when you deal with Roy, Tracie, and their staff, you are eliminating the strict managerial procedures and inflexible companywide policies of dealerships or franchises. Their estimates, repairs, and invoices are customized. Webb's Automotive focuses on eliminating, when possible, the additional cost of extra services often associated with a particular repair. If you don't need it, Roy and his team won't try to sell it to you. In July, Webb's Automotive celebrated its 26th year in business with ten years here in Cypress—and Tracie and Roy plan to be here another ten more years and beyond. They proudly claim, “We are now serving three generations and are looking forward to the fourth." They are absolutely right. And, I am a testament to that. In our family, Webb's Automotive has served me, my two daughters and their families, and now my grandsons. Their recent Facebook post informed the community that Cody, Webb's long-time office manager and nephew, was resigning to start a new career. I immediately shared my feelings by saying that I would miss Cody; "He always treated me like I was his grandma." When I walked into the reception area for an oil change the other day, Justin Henderson, the new office manager, jumped up and gave me a bear hug and said, "You don't have to worry, Grandma, I am here to take care of your car!" Justin admits he has big shoes to fill, but he is up to the challenge. A lifelong Tomball guy, and fourth-generation car repair enthusiast, he has worked in the industry for almost 20 years. He is a keeper. I assure you that you are in good hands. There is more good news! Noelle is back. She was Webb's beloved service writer/customer service and information guru from 2017 to 2020. After taking time off to get married and complete a real estate Copyright © 2021 Peel, Inc.
course, she is back to serve the community she loves. I asked Noelle why she chose to come back and be part of Webb's Automotive family. Her response was, "I'm treated like family. The work environment is kind and loving, and most people can't say that. I'm one of the lucky ones." Truly a family affair, Wyatt, Roy and Tracie's 19-year-old son, is home from Texas A&M this summer working in the shop, as did his sister Haley (23) when she was in college. Don't underestimate the importance of people who view you and yours like family. They want you to remain safe. Plus, they want to act as your partner in preventing breakdowns and saving money, allowing you to make more minor repairs now rather than a much bigger one later. Webb's caring, honest team, includes ASE-certified technicians who believe in nothing less than top-quality work. And, if you are a AAA member, you will receive a 10% discount on labor. The maximum labor discount is $50. When you see a Webb's Automotive’s Courtesy Van, as you are driving around the community, please think of this story and Webb's kindness to the people in it. Remember the great lengths they go to keeping us safe on the open road. When it comes to your car repair, it is important to shop wisely. You transport precious cargo!

I remember the day I saw PBR for the first time; it was at The Barn in Cypress, circa 2020. There was a celebration for Andy Correa’s (the Owner of Andy’s Kitchen in Cypress) birthday and there was no shortage of smiles – or shots. In fact, he shared one (or two) with me! Over the course of the last few months, I’ve worked with the local artists Britney Doyal, Mike Gilbert, The Lonely Road Band and now, PBR! And as sure as I sit here typing this article, I can tell you they are in a class of their OWN! PBR is comprised of Paul (P) & Bridgette (B) Roome (husband / wife) and their good friend, Rob (R) and I got a chance to hang with them at Cypress Trail Hideout, located at 25610 Hempstead Rd, in Cypress to witness their stage style and presence firsthand and up close. PBR describes themselves as a “Live vocal group who sings classic country with a little bit of 70’s Rock thrown in”. If I were to describe PBR, my slogan would be “All Talent, All Personality, All the Time”. They’ve been singing together as a group for 10+ years and having performed 10+ LIVE shows so far in 2021, I’d say they are on a winning a streak! They love taking requests, engaging with the audience, and seeing a good crowd line dance! I even got Bridgette to sing Kerosene by Miranda Lambert for me! You can find them on Facebook at PBR MUSIC Cypress | Fa c e b o o k a n d s e e t h e i r upcoming events. Both Paul and Bridgette are avid saltwater fishers, Paul runs a mean meat smoker and volunteers to participate annually in the local Cy-Fair ISD event: Back the Badge. Next time you see PBR Music in town, catch ‘em! You’ll be glad you did! Until next time. Have fun, stay safe and I hope to see you around the very happening Cypress Music Scene! If you saw a tall 16-year-old kid in your yard the week before the 4th, it is Matthew. He placed flags in yards and installed sockets in new customer's yards to celebrate Independence Day. Matthew is no longer taking orders for 2021. He will spend August setting up new customers for the season. This will be Matthew's 6th year to place flags in Fairfield and Lake of Fairhaven. He started with 25 customers; now, he has over 350. The route is capped at 350 because 3 of the holidays are during the school year, making it challenging to service an unlimited number of customers. Flags are placed on Memorial Day, Flag Day, July 4th, Labor Day, and Veterans Day. The cost is $50 for the yr. You can pay via Venmo, Zelle or Matthew can stop by for a check.

Since 1946, Second Baptist Church has offered a five-day traditional school designed bring biblical instruction and learning to students K-12. Starting in Fall 2021, Second Baptist School is branching out with a University Model schooling option at its Cypress Campus. The structure of this offering is two to three days of on campus instruction per week, with the remaining days reserved for satellite learning at home. SBS has partnered with Pam and Beau Dollins, founders of Paratus Classical Academy, in this new endeavor. SBS UM is designed for families that want their children to be educated with a Biblical worldview, in a manner that allows families to be intimately involved in the learning process. This model offers an excellent combination of family involvement, while still allowing students to experience life-giving community among classmates. Second Baptist Cypress is thrilled at the opportunity to be part of educating our children, and there has been an enormous response from the community. We look forward to everything that God will do with this University Model School in the coming years. Anyone interested in registering or finding more information about SBS UM can go to www.sbsum.org
