4 Fairfield Community Gazette - October 2021

Editors Notes—Well, folks, we've made it to October, the tenth month of the year in our calendar. It is the beginning of fall in the Northern Hemisphere, but it is associated with spring in the Southern hemisphere. Some fun facts about February include: • October's birthstones are Tourmaline and Opal. • Birth Flower for October is the Calendula or Marigold. • October has two zodiac symbols: Libra (until October 22nd) and Scorpio (from October 23rd to November 22nd) • October is National Pizza Month, National Popcorn Poppin' Month, National Pork Month, and National Seafood Month. • October ends on the same day of the week as February every year. • More United States Presidents were born in October than any other month, while only five First Ladies were born in October. October marks the beginning of three months of non-stop holiday season fun. The end of the month features Halloween, but this is just the start of the holiday season to come. Yes, this month marks the beginning of our non-stop holiday season. So now you can start decorating for the upcoming holiday. There is no scarcity of pumpkins in the craft stores, so get going. Speaking of the holidays, we are reminded that we are entering the season of sharing and gratefulness. So guess what? We have lots of heartwarming stories to kick off the season. I'm sure you will enjoy Al Cisne's story on Paying It Forward. You might want to know how Central Wire accumulated its donation to Cy-Fair Helping Hands. And, you will probably be interested in reading about and participating in the 2021 Dine Out For Charity Campaign. Remember The Cypress Music Scene is sponsoring the Octoberfest on October 2nd. Joyce Behind The Mike is a reoccurring column, as is the Senior Activities and now Spotlight on an Entrepreneur. And about local real estate, you will want to find out what makes one of our area companies so great. Please remember to contact me or drop me an email when you see one of your neighbors going above and beyond the call of duty. Those people and their kind deeds are what make it too great to be a Fairfield resident.
