Be Seen to be Green
With climate change and environmental concerns ever-present, consumers, public authorities and corporate print buyers are increasingly seeking assurances regarding the provenance of the products they buy and their sustainable credentials. Companies using paper and packaging products are increasingly keen to demonstrate their commitment to responsible sourcing by developing credible paper procurement policies which recognise both recycled and certified virgin fibre papers. One of the simplest ways to demonstrate that the paper your company uses comes from responsibly-managed forests is to specify PEFC-certified paper when you are placing a print order. This will have been sourced from forests certified to PEFC’s International Sustainability Benchmarks and tracked through the supply chain through Chain of Custody certification. The use of the PEFC logo on certified products then demonstrates your corporate commitment to responsible forest management. PRODUCT: James Latham PLC PHOTOGRAPHY: tinystar75

About PEFC The Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) through independent third-party certification. It works throughout the forest supply chain to promote good practice in the forest and to ensure that woodbased products are sourced with respect for stringent ecological, social and ethical standards. PEFC is an umbrella organisation. It works by endorsing national forest certification systems developed collaboratively by all
interested stakeholders and tailored to local priorities and conditions. National forest certification schemes undergo rigorous third party assessment against PEFC’s unique Sustainability Benchmarks. Today, PEFC has recognised certification systems in more than 30 countries. Together these account for over 245 million hectares of certified forests, making PEFC the world’s largest forest certification system. It is the certification system of choice for family and community-owned forests. PEFC-certified materials are specified in public and corporate procurement policies around the world.

PEFC certification enables you to be confident about the raw materials used in your corporate marketing materials. Using a PEFC Chain of Custody certified printer means that they will have a fully audited and verified supply chain from forest to end use. PEFC certification provides you and your customers with assurances that the paper used for your printed communications originates from legal and sustainable sources. Recycled paper purchased from a company with PEFC chain of custody certification may also carry the PEFC logo.
PEFC provides a practical demonstration of your company’s corporate environmental commitment by forming the foundation of a credible paper procurement policy.
By specifying PEFCcertified paper to your printer, you can use the PEFC trademarked logo on your publications to provide your customers with assurances of responsible paper sourcing. 5
