UKWAS Update ENDORSED by PEFC and FSC, the UK Woodland Assurance Standard

(UKWAS) is the certification standard used for verifying sustainable woodland management in the UK. Following a two-year revision process, a ‘final’ draft of the UKWAS 4th Edition was completed last May. This version was due to be re-endorsed by both schemes before the end of 2016. However, the standard failed to meet the requirements of FSC’s Policy and Standards Committee and additional requirements were therefore added in December. The revised standard is currently being re-evaluated by FSC. If this latest version is accepted, the PEFC endorsement process will recommence. Until UKWAS 4 is finally endorsed by both schemes, UKWAS 3.1 will remain in place. For further
