April Events Pen Bay Medical Center & Waldo County General Hospital Breastfeeding Support Group Mondays, April 1 – 29, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. (Every Monday, please call ahead if it falls on a holiday) Waldo County General Hospital, Women & Infants Unit, Ground Floor 118 Northport Avenue, Belfast Meet other new mothers who are breastfeeding. The group offers support and guidance to breastfeeding mothers from certified lactation consultants and certified lactation counselors. Siblings are welcome. Cancer Support Group Tuesdays, April 2 and 16, 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Oncology & Infusion Therapy, Waldo County General Hospital 116 Northport Avenue, Ludwig Medical Building, Belfast This group is for cancer patients at any stage – newly diagnosed, currently in treatment and long-term survivors. A cancer diagnosis can be scary and can feel isolating; support groups offer a network of comfort, recognition and guidance. The group is facilitated by Ashley Hoffmann, LSW and Claudia B. Mother’s Milk Support Group Tuesdays, April 2 – 30, 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. or 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Pen Bay Medical Center, Chapel Room, 6 Glen Cove Drive, Rockport A support group for breastfeeding families. The informal group provides interaction as well as individual assistance when needed. Women wanting more information about breastfeeding are also welcome. Breastfeeding Basics Tuesday, April 9, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Pen Bay Physicians Building, Conference Room D, Ground Floor 4 Glen Cove Drive, Rockport This two hour class provides a pre-birth opportunity to ask questions and learn about breastfeeding and returning to work. $25 for mom and partner. Penobscot Shores’ Annual Senior Health Fair Wednesday, April 10, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Penobscot Shores, Ocean House, 10 Shoreland Drive, Belfast At this year’s free Senior Health Fair at Penobscot Shores, experts and representatives from area agencies, businesses and organizations dedicated to the health and wellness of older adults will be on hand to discuss and provide information about a wide-range of topics. Stop by to learn more about healthy aging, fitness and rehabilitation, sleep issues, heart health, diabetes and nutrition, home health and hospice services, aging and disability resources, hearing issues, safety and fraud prevention and more. The Waldo County Sheriff's Department will be present with their Drug Take Back Program to take unused or expired medications. Balance testing, Telehealth demonstrations and blood pressure checks will be available along with free mini-massages and paraffin wax hand therapy. WCGH Oncology Walk Saturday, April 27, Registration at 9:00 a.m. | Walk at 10:00 a.m. Waldo County General Hospital Classroom 118 Northport Avenue, Belfast Join us for the WCGH Oncology walk. All proceeds benefit the Oncology Patient Assistance and Mammography Funds. The basket raffle will be available for sale in the classroom beginning April 23 at the following times; Tuesday - Thursday from noon to 6 p.m.; Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday prior to the walk. $1 per ticket, 6 tickets for $5, 15 tickets for $10.
