Bite into Summer Welcome to our Journey to Health summer program guide, containing our class offerings for the months of July, August and September. Summer is upon us and we are ready for beach days, garden-fresh veggies and lots of sunshine (with sunscreen, of course!). We hope you’ll join us to discover your new favorite summer side dish, explore new ways to enjoy our natural resources and take time to recharge your body and mind. Registration Information How to Register Please visit journeytohealth.coursestorm.com. Classes are listed by the same categories you’ll find in this guide. Simply select the class you’re interested in, click “Register” and complete the registration information. Payment can be in the form of check, credit or debit card. Discounts are available online for seniors (age 65 and older) and veterans (those who served in the armed forces of the United States). Registration is required for all classes unless otherwise noted. If you need help registering for a class, have questions, need financial assistance or would like to request a family discount, please call 921-3950.

Eating Well with Diabetes Boost your healthy cooking confidence by learning diabetes cooking basics, like using herbs and spices to reduce sodium and fat and including more fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Come experience this four-session dance program designed specifically for people with movement difficulties that combines accessible dance moves and opportunities to explore one’s natural creativity through movement. Dance steps and inspiring music are carefully chosen by instructor Katie Tranzillo so that participants feel comfortable, safe and graceful. Participants are encouraged to bring a friend, family member or caregiver to join in the fun for free.

Join us for an introduction to East Coast Swing. We will teach you the basic footwork to this fun, happy and upbeat dance. You will build your confidence on the dance floor and we are sure you will find out why swing dancers are some of the happiest people around!

Get 5k Ready! Have you always wanted to complete a 5k? With proper training, it is possible! Join personal trainer Rachael McCormick for an eight-week program that will gradually help you build your endurance and strength, as well as provide you tips and techniques to make your first 5k or your next 5k not only fun, but successful. This class will lead up to the Energy4Life 5k on September 30 in Rockland. 11

With the miles of coastline and many lakes in Maine, kayaking is a great way to stay active. Join us for a leisurely tour of our beautiful Midcoast with Maine Sport Outfitters’ Registered Maine Guides. Basic paddling and safety instructions will be provided. Children ages 10 and older are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. Weather permitting. Registration fee includes tandem kayaks and gear.

Are you looking for an activity to channel your child’s abundance of energy? If so, sign them up for this class with Master Randy Gelo. Not only will your child have fun, but he or she will learn self-discipline as well as how to work with others. No previous martial arts experience required.

Yoga Nidra is a guided deep relaxation meditation that helps reduce stress and heal physical, mental and emotional imbalances. Krishna Peter Perry, co-founder of ShivaShakti School of Yoga and Healing Arts, will lead students as they lie down to rest their bodies and minds in the deep restorative practices of yoga nidra. 17

Join this class to explore tobacco dependence, learn ways to overcome cravings and environmental triggers, discuss medication options and provide social support. You will develop a plan and gain tools to increase your confidence in your new tobacco-free life.

Cancellation Policy Class Cancellations Journey to Health reserves the right to cancel a class due to low enrollment or unexpected events. If either occurs, we will notify you by email and your class fees will be refunded.

Weather Cancellations If Journey to Health cancels a class due to weather, we will put a message on our voicemail at 921-3950 at least two hours before the class start time. You can also find cancellations posted on our Facebook page: facebook.com/J2HWellness Due to our large geographic region (Knox and Waldo counties), classes may be canceled in one location but not at another. Please call with any questions.

Refunds Class fees will be refunded if a class is cancelled. No refunds will be given within 24 hours of a class start time or after a class has started. Refunds will be issued in the manner payment was made and may take up to three weeks for processing. To request a refund, please call 921-3950.
