LAND NEAR THE COLEG MENAI PENCRAIG CAMPUS, LLANGEFNI
A development of 60, affordable homes, which will consist of 2–3 bedroom houses and apartments. As well as providing affordable homes to rent, they will be energy efficient, with green technologies such as air source heat pumps and solar panels.
These homes are being built by Anwyl Partnerships on behalf of ClwydAlyn and in partnership with Anglesey County Council and Welsh Government. The proposed completion for the entire development is Summer 2023.
PROGRESS UPDATE AND LOOKING AHEAD
Work on site is progressing well, whilst the new homes are in development, they’re known as ‘plots’ and plots 1 to 18 (which are houses and apartments) have had the scaffolding dismantled and the external works are ongoing. Work is currently ongoing to connect the utilities supply to the properties. The development will be completed in phases and are at different stages in the development process. The first phase of handovers are expected in Spring 2023.
GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY
An important part of ClwydAlyn’s commitment to building high quality affordable homes is to ensure that all partners involved, commit back to the local communities in which we work in a wide range of ways and in line with our poverty priorities. In turn, helping to enrich our communities by giving support where it’s needed, whether that’s helping people to get back into work, combating social isolation, supporting residents in fuel poverty, or providing access to nutritious food.
OUR MISSION: TOGETHER TO BEAT POVERTY
Our poverty priorities:
SUPPORTING PEOPLE IN EMPLOYMENT
• Employment, training, education and volunteering (Increase)
• Food poverty (reduce)
• Fuel poverty (reduce)
• Digital Inclusion (increase)
Anwyl Partnerships are committed to supporting people into employment and have had the following apprenticeships from Coleg Menai Pencraig Campus:
APPRENTICES
Construction students from Coleg Menai Pencraig Campus, enjoyed a taste of real life on a construction site. The group of 16 – 18 year olds, were able to spend the day on site, reinforcing our commitment to create training and learning opportunities for local students.
WHO WILL THESE HOMES BE FOR?
The homes will be offered to people on the ‘Single Access Route to Housing Register’ and Tai Teg (Affordable Homes Register) who live and work in the area. This is not to say that others may be excluded, someone on the register may, for example, have a connection with the area (e.g., grown up children, moving back to the area to offer family support). www.taiteg.org.uk www.anglesey.gov.uk
MANAGEMENT OF THE SITE AND HOURS OF OPERATION
There is a Site Manager Team on site at all times, who are trained to safely manage all operations and subcontractor activity. Typical hours of operation are Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am and 5pm. If at any time any specialist work needs to be carried out outside of these hours, we will contact you. We will continue to communicate regularly by newsletter as the development progresses.
