LAND AT GLASDIR, RUTHIN, DENBIGHSHIRE
A development of 63 new energy efficient, affordable homes being built by Williams Homes on behalf of ClwydAlyn and in partnership with Denbighshire County Council and the Welsh Government.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
PROGRESS UPDATE AND LOOKING AHEAD
Work on site is progressing well and in October and most recently in February, phase 2 of the development was completed and 29 residents/ families moved into their new homes! The development will have 3 completion phases and phase 3 is progressing well. All 63 homes will be complete in spring 2023.
Men at HMP Berwyn in Wrexham have been producing timber framed panels for our developments at Glasdir (Ruthin), Hen Ysgol y Bont, Pentraeth and Valley Mill / Mart in Anglesey, playing a key role in the success of the schemes. A factory unit was set up in the prison, and now 25 men have had a chance to gain practical skills and qualifications to equip them to gain employment on release.
RESIDENTS MOVE IN!
Congratulations to our residents who moved into their new homes!
NATALIE
“ I’m very excited to be moving in and my new home is absolutely beautiful. After living with my mum for 2 years the house is a good size and its 3 bedrooms will be better for me and my children. Their toys have been in storage, but now they can have them out and we can really live our lives. My home is also really energy efficient – I’ve never lived somewhere that has solar panels and this will save me money on my electric bill. The builders have done a good job and it will be amazing to live here.“
VISITORS TO THE DEVELOPMENT
Architect, TV presenter and Ecodan ambassador George Clarke visited the development in November to hear all about how the homes are fitted with Mitsubishi’s innovative air source heat pump (Ecodan) to reduce fuel poverty and decarbonise housing stock. Showcasing this in a video shot at Head Office and at the scheme, George met with Stuart Hughes, Development Project Manager and Tony Hughes, Commercial Director for Williams Homes, to talk about the partnership and why sustainable heating is so important. Stuart also met with Carolyn Thomas MS and Darren Millar MS at the scheme to discuss all elements of the project and how the innovative technology will assist the residents moving into their new homes.
MANAGEMENT OF THE SITE AND HOURS OF OPERATION
There is a Site Manager Team on site at all times, who are trained to safely manage all operations and subcontractor activity. Typical hours of operation are Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am and 6pm and Saturday’s 8am to 1pm. If at any time any specialist work needs to be carried out outside of these hours, we will contact you. We will continue to communicate regularly by newsletter as the development progresses.

“ I like everything about my new home. It will be just me living here with my 2 year old son, and with 2 bedrooms, I’ll be able to do my own thing and not have to worry. We weren’t expecting to get the house but did, and I’m really made up. The kitchen, the other rooms and the garden are beautiful, and with solar panels installed, we won’t have to pay so much on electric, which is a big bonus.“
