Ramsbottom take k.o, fantastic defensive play by Pennine clearing the ball to Brierley who manages to weave through Ramsbottom nine players before getting shot off unfortunately it was a missed opportunity. Ramsbottom clear the ball well and take a half hearted shot that Alfie manages to save. Ramsbottom put the pressure on Pennine in Pennine half but some great defending Pennine get the ball up into Ramsbottoms half with a huge kick from Nick, chased by Brandon who just misses the goal. Pennine now apply pressure onto Ramsbottom keeping them pinned in their half with several shots being made and one scorcher of a shot that was saved by Ramsbottoms keeper without any hesitance (Great save).Pennine kept the pressure on with some hard work from Ben and Sam. Half time 0 – 0, with Pennine having 70% of the possession we were looking good. Second half started slower, Ramsbottom taking advantage of this and started pushing to the goal, Pennine defending well. Quickly set off winning the first corner that Brierley takes that just curved a fraction to soon hitting the side netting. Bridge manages to take a shot that Alfie stood tall to and saved with ease. Within a few moments free kick is awarded taken by Charlie, Brierly gets the chance to shoot and manages t o get it past the keeper putting PJFC into the lead. New lad Brandon gets shot on saved by keeper rebounded out to James who drives it into the back of the net, PJFC lead 2 -0. Bridge start to put the pressure on but Logan manages to clear the ball on more than one occasion, Brierley snatches the ball weaves through several players before scoring his second goal PJFC 3 – 0 just before half time Bridge left us standing and managed to pull a goal back. Half time Bridge Eagles 1 – 3 Pennine Yellow. With 80% of the possession we were looking good. Second half started slower with Ben making some excellent defensive breaks on each occasion we struggled to get it through to their goal, a pass back saw Bridge get a free kick that Charlie managed to save. With confusion around there box after a great break by PJFC ball bubbling around James is there to score his second goal, PJFC 4 – 1. A quick reply from Bridge makes it 4 -2 to PJFC. Brandon steps the pace up with some great breaks up the field feeding the ball through there defenders, unfortunately he could not find the back of the net. Bridge start putting the pressure on, that Ben on several occasions pulled of some stunning footwork. He was even seen making a great header to clear the ball back into Bridge half. Tiredness crept in on a couple of players leaving Alfie and our goal exposed giving Bridge the chance to pull 2 quick goals back making it 4 -4 with 5 minutes to go. Brierley hungry to get us back in the lead shoots which their keeper saves, big kick down field saw us exposed again Alfie made a great save. Brandon gets the ball into their half, gets a corner from his shot as they steal the ball they manage to take the lead with a goal that it is unclear if it completely crossed the line (where is the goal line technology when you need it). Brierley snatches it from k.o. and flies up the wing determined we will score after several passes the ball lands at Ogaga’s feet and the shot is made and crosses the line. With just enough time to take k.o. before the final whistle is blown. Final score Bridge 5 v 5 Pennine. Match Report Katy Talbot. Player Of Match Brandon.
