Penn Medicine Lights the Night!

The Light the Night Walk brings together families and communities to honor blood cancer survivors, as well as those lost to the diseases, shines a light on the importance of finding cures and provides access to treatments for blood cancer patients. During the Walk, participants carry illuminated lanterns in three colors: white lanterns are carried by survivors; red lanterns by supporters; gold ones are carried by those who are walking in memory of loved ones lost to cancer. This year, Regina Cunningham, PhD, RN, AOCN, FAAN, chief nurse executive, associate executive director of HUP served as executive chair of the 2015 Philadelphia Light the Night Walk held October 26, 2015. Over 400 Penn Employees, patients and families joined together and formed Team Penn Medicine raising over $80,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

This walk helps fund those treatments for patients like my 10 year old nephew, Ron Junior, who was diagnosed with Leukemia last summer, as well as my mom and brother who are long-term survivors of lymphoma due to the care they received at Penn Medicine.
