We offer our Fleet Insight app for when you are on the go. Registered Fleet Insight users can download the Fleet Insight app, which delivers much of the same critical, real-time fleet information to your Apple or Android device. Your Fleet Insight username and password carries over to the app, for a seamless experience. App benefits include:

• Notifications – get real-time updates on the status of any roadside event and status of all Penske units in for service.

• Billing – view, manage and approve invoices – even ask a question.

• Locations – easily find nearby fuel, EV charging, service, rental, parking, and certified public scale locations. You can even view current fuel pricing from Penske and costs for third-party fueling locations across the United States.

CORE-MARK

Fleet Insight helps to enhance fleet management with more visibility and efficiency

Core-Mark is one of the largest distributors and marketers of consumer goods in North America, with 32 distribution centers, both in the lower 48 U.S. states and in Canada and a fleet of 1,500 power units, about 1,800 trailers and nearly 2,000 drivers.

Core-Mark leases power units and some trailers from Penske, which provides maintenance services, tracks maintenance cost and helps Core-Mark determine life cycle costing and replacement strategies for their fleet.

Brian Johnston, Sr. Director of Transportation, Core-Mark International, Inc., supports all Core-Mark distribution centers with respect to their fleet, transportation, driver productivity and compliance.

“Penske has been a good partner for us. They’re good at taking a lot of the day-to-day headaches, so to speak, off of our local distribution center management, so that our management teams can really focus on driver safety, customer service and DOT compliance,” Johnston said.

FLEET INSIGHT

Johnston is a regular Fleet Insight user accessing the website two to three times a week to help to keep tabs and control over certain high cost units.

“I can sort, segregate and dive into any one of our distribution centers,” Johnston said. “I can dive into any of the distribution center fleets, dive into a specific tractor trailer that Penske maintains, and pull up the billing history, operating costs and things of that nature.”

Johnston was part of a Penske team that helped to develop some new Fleet Insight functionality. The team worked to add features like different queries across divisions and regions.

“Core-Mark has two Region Transportation Training managers who are really instrumental in supporting all of our divisions,” Johnston said. “And, it’s helpful that the new functionality allowed them to go into each one of their regions and not have to sort through our entire network. The system [Fleet Insight] helps them find out and develop trends for their specific region. That one enhancement was a huge win for us.”

Johnston also uses the site when they are faced with replacing a specific trailer or a tractor. He logs into Fleet Insight to pull trend data and then works with his Penske account manager to determine the best course of action.

Fleet Insight provides Core-Mark with a lot of visibility as to how their fleet is running and the costs being incurred.

“This tool and process also helps us with our annual fleet budget,” Johnston said.

Core-Mark divisions have regular meetings with their local Penske branch and account representatives.

“Fleet Insight is the backbone of all of our Penske fleet discussion,” Johnston said.

BAXTER INTERNATIONAL

Fleet Insight helps to manage costs and monitor fleet performance

Penske’s Fleet Insight helps Baxter International manage costs and monitor fleet performance.

For more than 85 years, Baxter International has served the healthcare needs of home patients through its worldwide portfolio of critical care, nutrition, renal and surgical products.

In communities across the country, Baxter is able to deliver critical healthcare services thanks in part to their leased fleet of Penske straight trucks. And, they are able to manage costs through their use of Fleet Insight.

FLEET INSIGHT

Tim Brown, regional operations manager at Baxter, uses Fleet Insight and the companion app often to help him manage his fleet.

Fleet Insight provides customers, like Baxter, visibility to data to monitor his fleet’s performance, maximize vehicle resources and make changes as needed.

Information customization is a key feature of Fleet Insight, which provides customers with access to important information from Fleet Insight’s home screen.

Among other information, Brown set up a preventive maintenance PM Overview on the home screen, so he can monitor the fleet’s PM schedule.

In addition to PM scheduling, email notifications provide Brown with other important information. “I really like the email notifications related to truck repairs and 24/7 breakdowns to see what is going on with the fleet,” Brown said.

Brown is able to review contract mileage for his leased fleet within Fleet Insight to ensure he stays under mileage requirements.

“I was looking at two trucks in New Orleans last year and both were over mileage,” Brown said. “I was able to make changes to the usage of both vehicles to get them under mileage and avoid paying a fee.”

When Brown needs extra trucks, Fleet Insight helps him keep track of his rentals to make sure the rentals are returned on time.

In addition, Fleet Insight helps manage Baxter’s non-maintenance contract expenses, Brown said.

“There is not a whole lot we can do to reduce total mileage, we have to go where customers are, but controllable expenses, like vehicle damage, can be managed in Fleet Insight,” he said. “Through Fleet Insight, I can see repair charges for the previous month and see trends over time.”

In Brown’s region, his previous nine repairs totaled $5,500, and he believes this is an area he can work to control. Brown uses the information to work with drivers on accountability and taking more time to pay attention to their surroundings.

Brown also uses the companion app to Fleet Insight.

“[I] use the Fleet Insight app very often when I am on the go or do not have access to a computer, especially for fuel locations,” said Brown.
