Centennial High and Liberty High are among 28 schools in the state to receive a funding grant from S R P. M ore t ha n $125,000 in grant funding went to schools to provide teachers the opportunity to develop projects and programs that improve s t u d e n t p e r fo r m a n c e objectives in math and science. Centennial High applied for a grant that will connect students’ conceptual knowledge of physics with the physical world beyond the classroom. Students will collect and analyze data utilizing sports, nature

and campus life as the laboratory. The grant will purchase lab equipment, replacing outdated and worn out equipment. Liberty High applied for a grant to help fund the Vernier LabQuest standalone hand-held interface to collect, analyze and share sensor data from experiments. Since the devices operate on rechargeable batteries, students can use the interfaces to conduct scientiic investigations outside of the classroom while helping students investigate the world around them.
