Religion and Philosophy BOBBY MAGALLAN
With an emphasis on academic rigor and a spirit of genuine inquiry, the Religion and Philosophy Division’s mission is to lead you into a deeper understanding of religion, specifically Christianity, by fully integrating the life of the mind with the life of the spirit. On the one hand, the division focuses on biblical studies, Christian history, and systematic theology; and on the other hand, it explores matters of human knowledge and experience, morality and ethics, and reasoning. To those ends, the division offers courses that will introduce you to the study of religion and philosophy within a variety of cultures, both ancient and modern.
In addition to general education courses designed to familiarize you with the Old and New Testaments and the dynamics of Christianity’s interaction with contemporary culture, you can also pursue major or minor degrees in the Religion and Philosophy Division to prepare for ministry or graduate study.

Nursing
The School of Nursing, dedicated to the highest standards of academic excellence, clinical preparation, and Christian values, aims to develop students into skilled and compassionate registered nurses who lead lives of purpose, service, and leadership within health systems and communities locally and worldwide. Pepperdine will achieve this by o ering an innovative curriculum delivered by world-class faculty, newly developed and state-of-the-art clinical education facilities, and providing dynamic experiential learning opportunities through preceptorships at leading hospitals and medical facilities in both Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
Nursing students on the four-year pathway will spend their first two years completing general education and core natural and social sciences courses at Pepperdine’s Malibu campus before transitioning to the Calabasas campus for didactic and laboratory nursing classes as well as clinical preceptorships. Students on the two-year pathway, a er completing all required courses at another college or university, will enroll at the Calabasas campus to complete a curriculum focused primarily on nursing courses and experiential learning. At graduation, all students will be prepared to succeed on the NCLEX-RN exam to become registered nurses.
Pepperdine’s bachelor of science program is pending licensure by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) and approval by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). BRN and WSCUC approvals are targeted for the spring of 2025. Regular updates on both accreditation processes will be provided on the nursing program website.
