A-I. Fuel Area per Unit of floor Area The area of fuel per unit area of floor in a fire scenario is defined as follows: A fuel =

q f,d ∆H c ·ρfuel ·s fuel

(AI-1)

Where qf,d is the fire load of the fire scenario, expressed in MJ/m2floor, ∆Hc is the combustion heat of the wood, expressed in MJ/kgwood, ρfuel is the density of the fuel (wood), in kgwood/m3wood, sfuel is the thickness of the fuel (wood), in m, and Afuel is expressed in m2wood/m2floor. In order to obtain the total area of wood in a compartment, Eq. (AI-1) must be multiplicated by the fire area of the scenario.
