Getting the License Although marriage license requirements vary by location, there are basic stipulations that apply in most locations:
1. Apply Together and In Person: Both you and your partner should be present to apply for your marriage license. If either of you is younger than 18, you may need a notarized letter of parental consent or to have a parent present.
2. Take Proper Identication: Call ahead to learn exactly what you’ll need. In many states, your ID must include a photo. Most states will accept your driver’s license, birth certicate, military ID, or passport. If either of you was born out of the country or isn’t a U.S. citizen, you’ll likely need additional ID.
3. Check for Restrictions: Depending on the state, there are special requirements for when and where your license is valid. Its use may be restricted to a particular county, for example, or within a specic period. Many states have a waiting period. Ask your local government office about restrictions and waiting period requirements.
4. Stabs From the Past: If you or your ance have been married previously, you’ll need details like the date and place of your annulment/divorce and proof that prior marriages were legally concluded.
5. Don’t Misplace It: You’ll need copies so you can change your marital status with your insurance companies, the IRS, nancial institutions, and government programs, as well as to change your name if you choose to do so.

WEDDING SHOW STRATEGY: Key Tips to Maximize your Experience and Tackle the Show Floor like a Pro
1.
Be Prepared! You’re going to meet a lot of vendors in a very limited amount of time. Make sure you have a list of what services you still need to secure for your wedding. Eat a good meal before the show & bring a water bottle. Bring a pen & notepad to jot down info and notes for vendors you want to follow up with after the show.
2.
Use your Tools: Take advantage of the many resources at your disposal! At check in, you’ll get key info so you can plan your day and map out vendors you want to talk to. Block out time to visit unique attractions & events. At PWG Shows, spend your PWG Bucks with participating vendors to save on services booked at the show!
3.
Stay Open-Minded: While you should plan & prep for your show experience, it’s very important to stay open-minded! Plan on meeting vendors that you wouldn’t normally reach out to. You never know where inspiration may strike, or who you’ll click with! Wedding pros are flexible and eager to work with your ultimate vision.
4.
Have Fun! Wedding shows are meant to not only inform and educate you, but also to get you excited for the big day! Use the show to check off major to-do items, compare notes with other couples, and pick the brains of experienced wedding pros. Plus, you’ll get to enjoy food, music, and fashion with your friends & loved ones!

Money Matters: Know what’s available to you Family often offers to pay for at least some of the wedding expenses, so be sure to ask if they plan to contribute. If you’re uncomfortable asking for cash, consider asking for a specific item, like the cake or the flowers. If you and your fiancé are handling the bulk of the costs, figure up what you can each comfortably spare,
Prioritize what’s important Sit down with your future spouse and discuss what stands out in your vision. Is the fancy photographer important to you? Does your partner want an elaborate cake? Allocate larger chunks of your budget for those items, and scale back on other things. Agree early on priorities and don’t skimp on those items.
spread out your spending Once you’ve made your list, set up a separate bank account or credit card for wedding expenses. This way you won’t mix everyday money with your wedding funds. Place deposits early, and stagger purchases over a long period of time. This tactic will reduce the immediate strain on your wallet (and lower your future stress level!)
14
How to Set & Stick to a Realistic Wedding Budget Plan With the Seasons Certain times of year are popular for weddings, and therefore expensive. Ask your venue what’s considered off-season, and book your wedding accordingly. Once the date is set, choose in-season flowers and food: peonies in October are going to be expensive, as is squash in spring. You’ll save tons by buying in-season.
be flexible, be selective The more flexible you are, the more you’ll to save. The first place to start is trimming your guest list—it’s a nobrainer that feeding & entertaining fewer people will cost less! Saturday evenings have the highest demand for vendors, so consider lunch or brunch instead of dinner, or plan on a weekday to pocket some cash!
resist the urge to splurge It’s easy to get swept up in opulent wedding dreams when looking online. But planning every detail to be Pinterest-perfect will cost a fortune. Pay a little more for big ticket items (floral, catering, photography), but shop smart for the little things; most everything you see will have a lesspricy (but still pretty!) counterpart.

One of the moments I was MOST looking forward to at my wedding was getting to spend the time with all of my favorite ladies the morning of my wedding.
I had my mom, my mother in law, my step daughters and pretty much all of the important ladies in my life with me that morning. We laughed, we shared stories and we cried a little (BEFORE THE MASCARA ONLY). I made a playlist of songs while we enjoyed the day and sipped on champagne. Now – I do have to admit that when I make my own personal playlist, I’m ALLL OVERRRR THE PLACE! I could go from old school to hip hop easily. So if you want my advice, just have fun with it! What type of music do you think you’d want to be played the morning of your wedding? 16
