Throughout 2020 and early 2021, the facilities at Sentosa Golf Club went through a number of upgrades in order to elevate the quality and service that is provided to our members and guests. Clubhouse Developments The Clubhouse in particular underwent a series of improvements including upgrades to the Members changing rooms and the Members’ Bar, which has since been re-branded with a new name - Roots. The Club undertook an extensive S$650K renovation and revamp of its existing changing rooms and main lobby toilets. This was completed on time and budget in spite of material and labour challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Members’ Bar The Members’ Bar has also been renamed ‘Roots’ with a new logo created, resembling The Serapong lagoon’s unique mangroves – the only species of its kind in Singapore. The new Members’ Bar commemorates Sentosa Golf Club’s rich history, including the Club’s major tournaments and the many amazing memories created by our members. Pavilion Aircon Upgrade Sentosa Golf Club completed the works to replace the existing variable refrigerant flow (VRF) central air-conditioning system that has served the Sentosa Pavilion for the past 13 years in March 2021, making the Club more energy efficient and sustainable. As part of the improvement, Sentosa Golf Club now has a backup air-conditioning system in place for the Pavilion’s general dining area. Fleet Partnership A new tender for a term contract has been called by Sentosa Golf Club to procure a suitable golf course equipment and machinery fleet management partnership programme for a period of five years with an option to extend for another five years. Sentosa Golf Club will be adopting the use of environmentally-friendly work vehicles as part of its commitment to sustainability. Mast Poles Extension The Management is currently reviewing tender proposals that will enhance safety for members and guests on the practice range.

THE SERAPONG Widely recognised as one of the world’s best golf courses and the host venue for many of Asia’s biggest golf events, The Serapong is currently ranked as ‘Singapore’s Best Golf Course’. Having originally been designed by worldrenowned golf course designer, Ronald Fream, and opened in 1982, the course most recently underwent a series of renovations in 2020, led by the Club’s General Manager, Director of Agronomy and Resident Golf Course Designer, Andrew Johnston. The renovations have led to enhancements of The Serapong’s character and overall strategy, whilst elevating the course to a new level on the world stage.
The newly renovated 6th hole on The Serapong features a new false-front to the green, nicknamed ‘The Dragon’s Tongue’
Improvements have continued to highlight the courses key characteristics with fast and challenging greens, as well as trademark contours that have made it one of the region’s most challenging courses. Recent renovations included implementing a creative serrated edging style into each of the bunkers, as well as replacing all the liners and introducing new white sand; replacing the grass on the fairways with a fresh, clean layer of Zoysia Matrella to improve draining infrastructure; re-lasering all the tee boxes to reinstate a tabletop flat finish and updating the grass in order to maintain the tees at a super low mowing height of 3mm; and enhancing the soil structure condition of the greens by injecting pre-made sand mix solution into them through a drill-and-fill process.
THE TANJONG The Tanjong is one of the world’s most exciting golf course projects. As the host venue and home of the HSBC Women’s World Championship, it is highlyregarding amongst the world’s best players. Having recently been redesigned by Andrew Johnston and Matt Swanson in 2016, the course underwent a few minor improvements in 2021 with additional changes being made to three of the holes. A brand-new green has been developed on the 3rd hole, as well as an extra 65 metres added, making the overall experience of the hole more unique and challenging to negotiate. A small new section has also been added to the 4th green, whilst the tee complex on the 5th hole has been modified to eliminate the possibility of taking a shortcut over the 3rd fairway, therefore elevating the playing strategy of the hole. The new enhancements provide added excitement to competition on The Tanjong and showcase greater viewing, with a more precise strategy needed to be successful.

EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE STANDARDS AMID COVID-19 Sentosa Golf Club prides itself on providing its members and guests with top-quality service and professionalism 365 days of the year. The Club has 192 trained staff that range from front of house to F&B and Agronomy, to name but a few, with the Senior Management team averaging 15 years of club experience. Throughout the last year or so, the Management at Sentosa Golf Club has also had to deal with the disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic and a Circuit Breaker lockdown that lasted for two months in Singapore until June 2020. The management has worked hard throughout this period to install Safe Management Measures at the Club in order to make sure members and guests are still able to enjoy the facilities and services on offer. Record Golfing Demand The COVID-19 pandemic has seen more people playing golf, an outdoor sport with natural social distancing attributes, leading to a boom for golf globally and in Singapore. Sentosa Golf Club has been running at close to 100% occupancy every day since its reopening after the Circuit Breaker. The Sentosa Golf Club (local ordinary) membership has also seen a record transaction at S$380 in June 2021 on the open market, 30% higher than nine months ago. COVID-19 has also presented Sentosa 8
Golf Club with unique revenue challenges, despite the dramatic increase in golf demand. The Club used to derive 60% of its revenue from members and guests; and 40% from non-members, i.e., golfers at corporate events and “walk-ins” by visitors. Given the current revenue challenges, the Club increased golf cart (buggy) fees by $5/- from 1 February 2021 to remain in line with the standard of Sentosa Golf Club’s golf offering and to ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the Club in the current challenging Covid-19 environment. Golf Safe 365 to Minimize COVID-19 Transmission The Club had to constantly adapt to COVID19 measures and restrictions announced at different times by the MultiMinistry Taskforce (MTF), Sport Singapore and the Singapore Golf Association. The Club developed a Golf Safe 365 booklet and provided weekly email updates to give guidance on regulatory impact on golf and the use of Sentosa Golf Club facilities.
Temporary Living Quarters (TLQ) For their welfare, lodging in apartments was sourced for over 40 of Sentosa Golf Club’s Malaysian Golf Agronomy staff who were affected by the COVID19 dormitory displacement and border restrictions. They were first allowed to stay on premises at the Club’s TLQ, before moving out of the TLQ into public apartments procured and paid for by the Club, effective 1 April 2021. One Sentosa Island Partner Promotions As part of Sentosa Golf Club’s COVID-19 One Sentosa Island business recovery plan, the Club also continued to work closely with all Sentosa Island hotels, Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) to market the RWS Invites Gold card, dining and staycation packages to members, to help invigorate their business in the economic downturn.

HSBC Women’s World Championship (29 April to 2 May 2021) Earlier this year, Sentosa Golf Club staged the HSBC Women’s World Championship that was won by Hyo Joo Kim from South Korea. It was the first major sporting event to be held in Asia since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament, a challenging event of significant scale and international reach, was successfully delivered under COVID-19 safety and tournament protocols. This was achieved through the collaborative efforts between the organizer IMG with close guidance from the Singapore Tourism Board (including their Safe Distancing Ambassador teams), Singapore Government Agencies (ICA, SAATS, MOH) Sentosa Development Corporation and Sentosa Golf Club as well as a host of other Statutory Boards working together to deliver a fantastic week for all involved and most important for Singapore. A tournament bubble was set up throughout the event with all inner bubble participants testing negative through their day seven departure COVID-19 PCR tests. All athletes, caddies and LPGA officials safely departed Singapore without any cases, travelling either back to their home destination or onwards to the Honda LPGA Tour event in Thailand.

ADAPTING TO CHANGING TIMES In 2020, the world of sport and golf in particular was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. The management team at Sentosa Golf Club has had to deal with a number of rising challenges throughout the last year, from a two-month ‘Circuit Breaker’ to numerous restrictions that have been enforced in Singapore. The Club has continued to strive for perfection and maintain a world-class facility of high-standards and quality throughout this period, even whilst trying to renovate one of the world’s Top 100 golf courses, The Serapong. In order to maintain such high standards, our entire team from front of house staff to committee members had to adapt to change and show a huge amount of effort and dedication. Our staff had to adapt to the ever changing scenarios and the below formed the key characteristics behind their work:
Sentosa Golf Club renovated one of the world’s Top 100 golf courses, The Serapong, during a global pandemic. All under SMM (Safe Management Measures) Bunkers - New creative serrated edging style added with all liners replaced and new white sand added Fairways - Replaced all grass with a fresh, clean layer of Zoysia Matrella Tee Boxes - Re-lasered to reinstate a tabletop flat finish and maintain a mowing height of 3mm Greens - Enhanced the soil structure by injecting a pre-made sand mix solution

1. Attitude Team developed an overwhelming ‘never say die’, ‘can-do attitude’ at the Club Team spirit and bonding meant that the Club had the ability to come together in the face of adversity and deliver A number of our staff gave up their time to make sure the Club ran like clockwork during lockdown Many front of house staff were out on the golf course or working out of their comfort zones to get the job done 2. Commitment and Motivation The lockdown demonstrated the team’s commitment to winning any challenge at all costs A constant desire was shown to perform at the same levels of perfection that were normally expected on a day-to-day basis Many of the team spent prolonged periods of time away from their families to get the job completed – the Club was committed to providing safe accommodation during this period 3. Experience Collective experience of our staff was essential for the Club to get through this period of change Experience of running projects, both small and large, allowed our team to showcase their true leadership and manage deadlines, albeit with a limited team 4. Be Nimble The team had to continuously live and operate by new rules, adapting to change at the Club on a constant basis The Club needed to remain focused to align with the changing restrictions Rules of operation from wearing masks, testing protocols and limited staff allowed on site, to quarantining and working from home were changing on a daily basis For example, our team has over 200 employees, however only a specific number were allowed on-site per day, whilst 140 of the 150 contracted labourers were quarantined for over four months 5. Togetherness and Partnerships The Club had to adapt to the partners it was working with during the lockdown During the renovations, the team were working with a contactor to complete The Serapong renovations and had to develop a new set of rules for success in the most extraordinary of circumstances The team were open to being on the same page and making sure everyone was held responsible for achieving the shared goals At all times, the Club had to constantly keep our staff, members and guests front and centre of mind 11

ADAPTING TO CHANGING TIMES Sentosa Golf Club has also had to adapted to another sort of change – the environment. Climate Change is one of the biggest threats to humanity and the world we currently live in. Without significant change, the world will reach the point of no return and the levels of carbon in the atmosphere will begin to become uncontrollable. In order to adapt to a changing climate, the team has made significant efforts over the last few years to create a sustainable way of life at the Club. Since the launch of our first ground-breaking sustainability campaign, #KeepitGreen, in 2018, we have installed a number of environmentally-friendly initiatives on-site, as well as forming a number of partnerships with international organisations.
A fight against climate change
UN Sports for Climate Action Initiative
At the 2020 SMBC Singapore Open, we launched a second sustainability campaign, GAME ON, designed to unite the game’s key stakeholders with the wider golfing community to implement new modern processes for the betterment of the environment.
On 31 July 2020, Sentosa Golf Club made history by becoming the world’s first golf club to join the United Nation’s Sports for Climate Action initiative. The initiative aims to support and guide sports organisations and their communities on a path to achieving the global climate goals set out by world leaders in the Paris Agreement.
Most recently, the Club has become the world’s first golf club to commit to becoming carbon neutral by 2022. Contributions from golf rounds will be set aside to support the purchase of certified carbon offsets through regional Forestry or Blue Carbon projects to help sequester atmospheric carbon, defend against deforestation, and foster conservation of forests, mangroves and reefs.
