You’ll see and hear about Krakow’s love of Pope John Paul II as he is still remembered and revered among the locals. You’ll visit Wawel Castle, guarding the city from atop a hill overlooking Krakow. Here we’ll have a guided tour of the State Rooms, the Royal Cathedral, and the tombs. Then you’ll visit St. Mary’s Basilica where you’ll have mass and learn the story of two brothers and why the church’s towers are lop-sided. This afternoon we’ll visit Auschwitz and Birkenau Camps. At first, the Third Reich held Polish political prisoners in the camp but then, from the spring of 1942 it became an extermination camp where more than 1,100,000 men, women, and children lost their lives.
