Money Expo 2010 Hits Pattaya

For the second year the ‘Money Expo’ will be held at the Peace Pattaya Exhibition Centre at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort following the huge success of the first event held in 2009. This year in excess of 700,000 people are expected to visit the Expo with an anticipated 130 million baht of business transactions taking place. The Money and Banking Journal, in conjunction with Pattaya City Hall, have once again organised the event which in 2009 saw more than 45,000 visitors from the local area attending and business transactions in excess of 20 million baht. The ‘Money Expo 2010’ will give local people access to a wide
range of financial services from both international and national financial institutions. The Expo will take place between the 5th and 7th of February and the Minister of Finance, Khun Korn Jatikawanich, Chonburi Governor, Khun Senee Jitkrasame, and Pattaya City Mayor, Khun Itthiphol
Khunplome, will preside over the official opening ceremony on the 5th. Editor of the Money Banking Journal, Khun Santi Viriyarangsarit, reported that this year has seen an overwhelming response from businesses and government institutions wanting to reserve space at this second Expo, a far greater response than anyone could have anticipated. This year the event has not only attracted the attention of Commercial Banks and leading private financial institutions, in addition, 12 of the 27 booths will be occupied by Government Banks and Institutions, including Krung Thai Bank,
the Government Savings Bank, The Government Housing Bank, Islamic Bank of Thailand, ExportIncome Bank of Thailand, The Revenue Department,
Securities and Exchange Commission, the Stock Exchange of Thailand and the Bangkok Commercial Asset Management Company to name a few. Continued on page 5
CAT Telecom to provide Hi-Speed Communications System
CAT Telecom in conjunction with Pattaya City Hall has agreed on the first stage of providing Pattaya City with a Hi-Speed Communications System. The first phase of the new venture will cost in the region of 500 million baht and take ten months to complete; it is promised it will be in place and covering the main part of Pattaya City by the 5th December this year, in time for His Majesty’s 82nd Birthday. At a recent meeting at the Thaksin Conference Centre in Pattaya City Hall, Pattaya Mayor, Khun Itthiphol Khunplome, together with President of CAT Telecom Public Co. Ltd. Khun Jirayut Rongsritong, made a joint public statement to announce the first stage which will showcase Pattaya City as the first city in Thailand to receive the new Fibre Optic Cabling directly to homes. The meeting was also attended by Pattaya Administrators, Pattaya Council Members, Community Representatives, Government and private company representatives and
local residents. The Mayor stated in his speech that he has a vision of Pattaya enhancing its present development and becoming an economic centre to host more international seminars and world events. With the development of this Hi-Speed Communication System, Pattaya will be one of the most advanced telecommunication cities in the world. He believes that as a result of the new system, and the many other improvements that are in the pipeline, Pattaya will continue to go from strength to strength. CAT President Khun Jirayut, stated that his company was excited and ready to support this futuristic development and explained that the main purpose of choosing Pattaya to receive this new technology was not financial, but in order to provide local businesses and residents with a service they can be proud of.
