Pattaya City set to break another

‘Guinness World Record’
Pattaya City Hall in conjunction with the Ministry of Commerce, Department of Export Promotion, TAT, and other private sectors held a Press Conference on March 11th to announce the preparation of ‘Pattaya International Fashion Week 2010’, which it is hoped will put Pattaya firmly in the eye of international fashion with a display of some of the world’s best known international models and a record breaking 1.6 Km catwalk. holiday Pattaya City Deputy Mayor, Khun Verawat Kakhai, together with representatives of the other sponsors from both government and the private sector spoke about the fashion show and how it came about. The Deputy Mayor explained that the event had been organised as a direct result of the year long Thai political and the international downturn in the world economies. Pattaya, along with many other famous tourist destinations around the world have been badly
hit by a massive decline in tourism. To this end, the City Hall in conjunction with many other government agencies, and with the support of the private
sector, are determined to stage world events which will put Pattaya firmly in the eye of prospective
makers, the ‘Pattaya International Fashion Week 2010’ is their latest endeavour. It is hoped that the show will become one of the main fashion events of the year and not only promote tourism to the area, but also help to bring an international profile to many Thai manufactured goods and brand names. The fashion show will also provide a perfect opportunity for local grown young Thai designers and give them an insight into international markets and maybe their first foot on
the ladder to international recognition. The fashion show will showcase a record breaking catwalk of 1.6 Km, which will smash the existing Guinness World Record holder France, and will begin in front of the Central Festival Pattaya
designer competition, hair styling competitions and leather and jewellery design contests. The fashion show will also feature a number of amazing attractions including fashion shows by top Thai stars sporting the latest Spring and Summer collections, concerts by Grammy and RS award winning performers and world class DJ’s spinning their CD’s late into the night. Khun Verawat, concluded the press conference by explaining that he hoped the ‘Pattaya International Fashion
Beach Shopping Complex and continue along Beach Road until the infamous Walking Street. The event is scheduled to take place from the 8th to 11th April and be the ‘warm-up-act’ for Pattaya’s legendary ‘Songkran Festival’, featuring the fashion show, worlds’ longest catwalk, young
Week 2010’ fashion show would bring a much needed cash boost to the local economy and help to establish Pattaya as the Fashion Capital of Asia. He put his full support behind this project, and it will now make its way to the Pattaya City Congress for final approval and allocation of a reasonable budget.
