Welcome to the DCE European Championships. Today you can enjoy watching corps from all over Europe. Participants from the Netherlands, England, Ireland, Germany, Italy and France will perform before a professional judging team to find the new European Champions. They have sparkling shows in store for you and combine the music with great visual effects. This is top level amateur music. The DCE European Championships have grown into one of the biggest one-day music and show events in Europe. From the stands at the Parkstad Limburg Stadium, you will have a perfect view of the high-speed line game. We are delighted to be able to welcome you once again in Kerkrade, the city of sound. The Parkstad Limburg Stadium is for music corps what Ahoy is for pop music. This is the real music temple of the Netherlands. We wish all participants lots of luck and hope that you, as a spectator, have a wonderful day. We ask you not to walk around during the performances, but just enjoy it. Welkom bij de DCE European Championships Beste muziekliefhebber, Van harte welkom bij de DCE European Championships, het Europees Kampioenschap voor showkorpsen. U kunt vandaag genieten van topkorpsen uit heel Europa. Deelnemers uit Nederland, Engeland, Duitsland, Italië, Frankrijk en Ierland maken voor het oog van een professionele jury uit wie de nieuwe Europees Kampioen wordt. Zij hebben wervelende shows voor u in petto en combineren de muziek met grote visuele effecten. Dit is amateurmuziek van topniveau. De DCE European Championships zijn inmiddels uitgegroeid tot één van de grootste eendaagse muziek- en showevenementen van Europa. Vanaf de tribune van het Parkstad Limburg Stadion heeft u perfect zicht op het razendsnelle lijnenspel. Wij zijn dan ook erg blij u opnieuw hier in klankstad Kerkrade te mogen begroeten. Wat Ahoy is voor de popmuziek, is het Parkstad Limburg Stadion voor muziekkorpsen. Dit is de echte muziektempel van Nederland. Sie halten wirbelnde Shows für Sie bereit und kombinieren einzigartige Musik mit großen visuellen Effekten. Hier erleben Sie Amateurmusik auf Spitzenniveau. Die DCE European Championships haben sich inzwischen zu einem der größten eintägigen Musik- und Showevents Europas entwickelt. Von der Tribüne des Parkstad Limburg Stadions aus haben Sie eine perfekte Sicht auf das rasend schnelle Linienspiel. Bienvenue aux championnats européens de DCE Cher passionné de musique, Bienvenue aux championnats européens de DCE, les championnats d’Europe dédiés aux Drum Corps. Aujourd’hui, vous allez avoir la chance de découvrir ou redécouvrir des Corps en provenance de toute l’Europe. Des participants venus des Pays-Bas, du Royaume-Uni, d’Irlande, d’Allemagne, d’Italie et de France se produiront devant un jury de professionnels, qui aura pour tâche de désigner les prochains champions d’Europe. Les groupes participants vous réservent de tourbillonnants spectacles combinant expression musicale et effets visuels impressionnants. Le tout réalisé par des musiciens et danseurs non professionnels de haut niveau. Les championnats européens de DCE se sont progressivement développés jusqu’à devenir l’un des évènements musicaux les plus intenses en Europe. Se déroulant sur une seule journée, ils ont lieu dans les tribunes du Parkstad Limburg Stadium de Kerkrade, d’où vous disposerez d’une vue imprenable sur les déplacements des groupes sur le terrain. Nous sommes ravis de pouvoir vous accueillir une fois de plus à Kerkrade, la ville du son. Le stade Parkstad Limburg est au Drum Corps ce qu’Ahoy est pour la musique pop. Il s’agit d’un véritable temple de la musique aux Pays-Bas !

Uw eerste keer bij de DCE European Championships? We leggen u graag wat meer uit over onze activiteit.

‘Drum & bugle corps’ (of de vaak gebruikte afkorting ‘drum corps’) komt oorspronkelijk uit Amerika, waar Drum Corps International de wedstrijden organiseert. De muziek- en showstijl van deze korpsen verschilt in grote mate van de in Nederland bekende fanfares, drumbands en blaaskapellen. De op Amerikaanse leest geschoeide showkorpsen schotelen de toeschouwers een waar spektakel voor. De muziekkeuze is eerder modern dan traditioneel te noemen (onder meer pop, rock, musical, latin muziek) en de showmuziek wordt gecombineerd met grote visuele effecten. De leden lopen niet in blokjes, maar volgens een gecompliceerde choreografie.
Hoewel er dus wedstrijden zijn voorafgaand aan de DCE European Championships, tellen eerdere scores niet mee in de EK. Vandaag is het dus: nieuwe ronden, nieuwe kansen voor alle deelnemers. Wel bepalen eerder behaalde scores de volgorde van optreden in de voorronde die deze ochtend en middag plaatsvinden. De deelnemers die de hoogste scores hebben behaald in de nationale wedstrijden, mogen vandaag later aantreden in de voorronde. De uitslag van de voorronde bepaalt de volgorde van optreden tijdens het grote finale spektakelstuk vanavond. Op de DCE European Championships wordt gestreden in twee klassen: de Premier Class (de hoogste klasse) en de Junior Class (de klasse waarin jeugdkorpsen uitkomen).
Door de combinatie van muziek en show komen toeschouwers meer dan eens ogen en oren tekort. De korpsen brengen ieder jaar een nieuwe show en staan bekend om hun continue vernieuwingsdrang. Zo zijn er zelfs deelnemers die inmiddels gebruik maken van elektronische versterking om bepaalde instrumenten beter tot hun recht te laten komen.
U ziet hier vandaag het neusje van de zalm. Het welbekende Wereld Muziek Concours zou u kunnen zien als de Olympische Spelen van de muziekwereld. Niet alleen vanwege de tijdspanne, maar ook omdat er allerlei verschillende disciplines te zien zijn. Wanneer we de vergelijking met sport doortrekken, kunt u de DCE European Championships zien als de ‘Champions League’ van de muziekwereld. De beste korpsen in deze spectaculaire discipline zijn hier aanwezig.
Drum Corps Europe organiseert jaarlijks de DCE European Championships, het Europees Kampioenschap voor drum & bugle corps. Dit evenement is in een paar jaar tijd uitgegroeid tot één van de grootste eendaagse muziek- en showevenementen van Europa. Het EK is het sluitstuk van het Europese drum corps seizoen. In diverse Europese landen worden wedstrijden georganiseerd van mei tot en met september. In september vinden de nationale kampioenschappen plaats (zoals het kampioenschap van onze zusterorganisatie Drum Corps Nederland, twee weken geleden in het FC Dordrecht stadion). De beste korpsen uit Nederland, Engeland, Ierland, Frankrijk, Duitsland en Italië gaan na de nationale competities in Europees verband de strijd met elkaar aan.
Alle deelnemers spelen hun show uitsluitend naar de hoofdtribune, dat is dan ook de enige tribune die wordt gebruikt. Zo heeft u altijd een goed zicht op het programma en hoeft u niets te missen. We hopen dat u van de shows geniet. En zien u graag weer een keer terug!
