Work "Kommunalka" is an autobiographical research in form of book. This is a journey to the country's past and the photographer himself, but above all, a look at the present and even perhaps at the future of modern Russia. Apart from the interiors and portraits the book contains interviews with residents. A special place in the book is the preface, which is specially written by a famous Russian musician and writer Ilya Knabenhoff.
Social issues are playing an increasing part in photographic art. The reason lies in debates on human rights and political climate in the world. Also the personal lives of individuals are increasingly coming to the fore. We can say that such topics are more relevant now in our society. Increasingly, people are talking about the situation in Russia, about human rights issue. Today Russia sends billions of rubles to the Crimea, but the circumstances of ordinary people in the country has not changed and is unlikely to change in the coming years.
