WRITER’S REFLECTION Taking a look at my previous work from class, I believe that I have made an overall improvement as a writer. Personally, I think I have achieved this through a more developed passion towards my essay topics. Thinking about my journey as a writer I concluded that it has been quite difficult, but through a few considerable techniques I have impacted my overall abilities. One, being the use of creative writing in my papers has provided a well -endowed advantage in succeeding my past work as a writer. Another technique that aided my writing is critical revision. It has helped by shedding light on aspects I may have forgotten to mention formerly. This has been accomplished through personal revision, as well as peer evaluation with my classmates. Receiving feedback was also a great impact on my ability as a writer. During the process of writing, there have been some notable struggles. One of them is being given a deadline for papers. My personal belief is that papers are not always 100% completed, and may need to be updated or revised to the liking of the essayist. Also, I believe being given a deadline has limited the potential of some of my papers. Because we were only given such an amount of time to research topics and formulate a paper, it would be ideal to start the process as soon as possible. With additional classes that have labor intensive projects and assignments, it is truly difficult to accomplish all of the tasks when fallen behind. In my case, procrastination and ignorance to deadlines have provided many problems for me.
WRITER’S REFLECTION With the use of creative writing, one has the ability to interpret their emotions or work in a specific way. Ideally, I thought this was very appealing to incorporate into my own essays. The two bodies of work I touched upon using creative writing were my ethnography study of local Skateboarders, and my opinionated editorial on the TV show Family Guy. Using the original essays, I was able to reconstruct them into different genres and perspectives in which I could use my imagination and metacognitive skills. Transforming my ethnographic study of skateboarders into a brochure about a fictional club was a great way to show creativeness through a Genre Change. Allowing the ability to take factual information and illustrating it in a different process was very interesting and fun. Also using my opinionated editorial on Family Guy’s Racial Satire, I decided upon turning the document into an article of new perception. I planned on viewing the context of the Satire in a negative way, by showing Failure through the stereotypes given to characters in the show, as well as how the jokes are not working. Through using creative writing, I believe I have gained more of an interest in writing than previously due to restrictions on criteria and imagination. The revision process has ultimately been a great influence on my progressive writing skills. I found that through in class peer-editing and document workshops, I have developed a better insight on how to construct my papers. At first my construction of essays were out of order, and confused most readers. From hearing feedback from fellow peers, I detected my problem and solved the situation at hand. Also, from self-evaluation I noticed many grammatical errors in past writings . This possibly could -

I’ve now come to the realization that I must not rely on trying to satisfy the word count intentionally, and that I must incorporate the appropriate amount of information to convey my thesis to the reader. RHETORICAL ANALYSIS OUTLINE
For my Rhetorical Analysis, I decided to choose the song Stay To g e t h e r f o r t h e K i d s b y B l i n k 1 8 2 . A l t h o u g h s o m e o f t h e i r s o n g s a r e a l i t t l e b i t r a c y, t h i s s o n g o n e a s w e l l a s s o m e o t h e r s a r e a c t u a l l y q u i t e unique and deep. T h e s o n g S t a y To g e t h e r f o r t h e K i d s i s j u s t h o w i t s o u n d s when read. It describes the life of a child whose parents fight c o n s t a n t l y, a n d w h o o n l y s t a y s t o g e t h e r o n b e h a l f o f t h e c h i l d . R a t h e r than solving their anger and unhappiness with each other by getting a divorce, time drags on and creates even more problems. This is proven in the text, “ Their anger hur ts my ears, been running strong for seven year s. Rather than fix the problems, they never solve them, it makes no sense at all.” This song personally af fected me in my younger years when my parents were also going through a divorce. It was ver y tough and I experienced many similar qualities from this song in my own life. It would be the right idea to do what is right for the kids, but it is unnecessar y to prolong ever yone’s unhappiness. By doing so, it would just create more problems for ever yone in the household and would s l o w l y d e t e r i o r a t e w h a t w a s o n c e a f a m i l y. D e p e n d i n g o n t h e s i t u a t i o n i t c o u l d b e b e t t e r t o s t a y t o g e t h e r, b u t m o s t o f t h e t i m e i t i s n ’ t t h e smar test idea. If both parents were to be split, there would be fewer conflicts raised from family members. What I intend on analyzing from this text and conveying to a viewer is that a family should really pay attention and do what is right according to the child. Like mentioned e a r l i e r, s t a y i n g t o g e t h e r m i g h t n o t b e t h e b e s t o p t i o n c o n s i d e r i n g t h e constant conflicts. There are multiple alternatives than staying together and being miserable while bringing down the child as well.
