Spring 2011

Cook County Sheriffs President’s Message Dear Friends , Advise PGE POA About Latest Scams My family has lived in the Estates Detective Seargent James Hennelly of the Cook County Sheriff’s Department provides these tips to PGE POA residents who want to avoid becoming a victim to scams.

Knock-Knock—Call 911! Plum Grove Estates has “No Solicitation” signs posted at the entrances. Call 911 immediately, said Hennelly, when someone unfamiliar comes to your door asking for something from you. A criminal will try to get you to open your door—don’t do it.

Don’t Call Me, I’ll Call You If you really want to support your local police or fire department, make a donation directly to the station, said Hennelly. Don’t offer personal information over the phone, even if the caller is pleading for help. Telephone scams, he explained, depend upon a combination of your compassion and your lack of knowledge of the situation.

Learn More About Scams Criminals will try anything to reach into your wallet. Protect yourself by guarding your information, said Hennelly. The Cook County Sheriff’s Department will work with you to continute to make this a safe and secure neighborhood.

for over 20 years and, as your new President, my goal is to continue to ensure the beauty and serenity of our neighborhood. I am available to you if you have any questions or wish to register a complaint. Feel free to contact me by telephone or email , both of which are in the directory, or you can contact me through the PGE Web site www.pgepoa.org. The snowfall has raised a couple of issues that I would like to address. Power outages—many of us experienced a prolonged (30 hours in our case!!) power outage during and after the storm. During the years we have lived in the Estates, I can recall five outages; the issue is that three have occurred in the past six months. They seem to originate from one box. I am in the process of writing to ComEd to determine what they can do to prevent future outages. Posts—a number of posts were damaged by the snow plows during the February storm. The Township ordinance states that no posts or rocks can be placed within four feet of the edge of the street. Therefore the individual homeowners are responsible for repair/replacement of the posts. As Spring approaches, the PGE POA will be securing bids to replace the posts in the common

areas. If anyone wants to leverage our quoted price for their posts please give me a call or send me an email within the month. Included in this newsletter is an update to our Directory; please insert this into your current directory. Here’s to another great year. Gary Dindia PGE POA President president@pgepoa.org
