The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County, encourages residents to “live more, play more” by providing fun and diverse programs at our local community centers, parks, and facilities. During National Physical Fitness & Sports Month, this mission is especially important as we continue to support your path to wellness by offering a variety of FREE sports and fitness programs designed to help you get up & get fit! Our “live more, play more” philosophy is for all ages. The Department seeks to connect you and your whole family to fun and quality life-enriching sports and fitness opportunities year-round. If you haven’t joined in yet, May is the perfect time. Your path to wellness and fun is only one choice away! Increasing activity levels can improve fitness and reduce stress and risk for chronic diseases. Whether you are looking for a consistent activity to fit into your daily routine or just want to explore a local park, we’ve got you covered! Bike with a Ranger

Hiking can calm the mind and relieve stress. To kick off Health and Fitness Month, join us for a hike on the 3-mile beginner friendly White Marsh Loop Trail at White Marsh Park. Water and light snacks will be provided. Fitness shoes and hiking boots are required.

Enjoy a bike ride with a Park Ranger on natural surface trails. Bring your own bike and helmet or call the Park Ranger office at least two weeks in advance to reserve one. Cycling Senior Club Ride: WB&A Trail

Cycling is a full body and mind exercise! Join the Park Rangers and the Cycling Seniors Cycle Club on the lovely WB&A trail. This flat and paved trail extends 5.6 miles from Route 450 in Glenn Dale, running northeasterly to the Patuxent River. Please bring your own bicycle and helmet. This trail is appropriate for beginner and intermediate cyclists. Use of an M-NCPPC bike will be available upon request. Note: a waiver of liability will need to be signed.
