May Gladys Moore, 103 years old, resides in Oxon Hill with her daughter, Mable. Gladys has shown amazing kindness throughout her life by consistently helping others in need. She is well-known and loved in her community. Gladys is a spirited woman who has worked very hard throughout her life. She attended the special Centenarian Celebration in 2010, 2011 and 2012!
Celebrate centenarians —May is Older Americans Month. We’ll be celebrating Prince George’s County residents who are ages 100 and older! Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Rosa Parks, Vince Lombardi and Jesse Owens were all born in 1913— one hundred years ago! That same year, the first crossword puzzle was published, prizes were put into Cracker Jack packages for the first time and the zipper was patented. Prince George’s County centenarians are truly special and The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is proud to honor them at a one-of-a-kind centenarian celebration.

Spread joy! You’ve got so much to offer others… a smile, a conversation, a laugh and your upbeat attitude. During this joyous season, filled with family, friends and celebrations, joy can be contagious! Be sure to visit the senior activity centers to enjoy fun programs and activities with joyful friends and joyful staff who thoroughly enjoy your company!
Sterling Dorn, 70 years old, resides in Fort Washington and can be heard spreading joy through his music. Since his retirement, his passion for music, coupled with his giving spirit, makes the world a better place! In 2011, Sterling was crowned the 2011 Maryland Senior Idol winner, making all of us here in Prince George’s County very proud. Over the past couple of years, Sterling has voluntarily shared his talent by performing for seniors throughout Maryland. His joyful spirit shines year round!
