Mackwell’s new module range: At Mackwell we have consolidated the range of modules we produce to make it easier for you to select precisely the right module for each application. Our latest designs and advanced manufacturing techniques have enabled us to deliver improved performance more economically without compromising our reputation for product excellence. All modules have 5-pole connection, so that you never need worry about ballast lock out. You may then select the additional functionality you require including Mackwell’s latest automatic testing protocol, AT4 AutoTest® which enables compliance with the latest automatic testing standards and offers the option of DALI communication. Other options include the use of either Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) or Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries with selectable emergency duration and improved emergency light output (BLF) with higher specification modules.

Each module equipped with Mackwell’s patented batteries for 16 hours and then reduces to 10% to maintain the charge. SmartCharge™ reduces energy consumption by 90% and reduces the operating temperature of NiMH batteries by up to 6ºC. Optimisation Link

The Ballast Lumen Factor (BLF) delivered by our products is commonly higher than those of our competitors. This is a consequence of excellent product design and the utilisation of the Mackwell Optimisation Link. The selection of the link alters

the circuitry within the module enabling the module to run the widest range of lamps with increased lamp performance.

SMPS

Products incorporating the Mackwell Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS) embody the most efficient electronic switching regulators. As a result these products cover a wider voltage range, reduce thermal operating temperatures, are more efficient, lighter and smaller in size. In addition modules with SMPS provide the correct charge regime for either NiCd or NiMH batteries. smartstart smartstart provides initial cathode heating to

facilitate lamp striking. When the lamp has struck, the heating is removed to maximise BLF. FastStart®

Designed specifically for use with amalgam lamps and approved by the leading lamp and battery manufacturers our patented technology eliminates all of the problems associated with striking amalgam lamps in emergency mode. Mackwell therefore ensures that your luminaire complies with BS EN 5266 and BS EN 60598.2.22. Q-Start™

T5 lamps are particularly susceptible to cathode damage if they are not run correctly in emergency mode. The low power sources and simple control techniques associated with emergency lighting have traditionally dictated that emergency modules run lamps outside the manufacturers’ specifications. Mackwell’s new module range: To make module selection easier and more economical, we have rationalised our module offering into new product families without compromising our enviable reputation for product quality. All the modules have 5-pole connection, are CE approved and designed to BS EN 61347-2-7 and ICEL 1001, to ensure a long trouble free life. All have a 3 year warranty but as required by ICEL 1001 the components selected have a minimum design life of 8 years.

CERIAN™ provides totally reliable operation for simpler fluorescent lamps. PRIMIAN-1™ these modules are the same physical size as modules in the CERIAN™ range but the introduction of a Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS) adds the capability of use with either NiCd or NiMH batteries. In addition you can select the autonomy, depending on the capacity of the batteries used.

PRIMIAN-2™ is smaller than the PRIMIAN-1™ and also allows the option of AT4 AutoTest® and DALI communication. The addition of SmartStart technology enables reliable operation with low mercury lamps.

ADVANZE-1™ this is the module to select if you require a low profile; the case is only 28x28x250 mm. You can select operation with NiCd or NiMH batteries and autonomy, but this model does not have the option of AT4 AutoTest® or DALI communication.

ADVANZE-2™ this is the lowest profile T5 module we manufacture – only 21x30x250 mm. In addition it incorporates AT4 AutoTest® and DALI together with SmartCharge™ to reduce battery temperatures and Q-Start™ technology to maximise lamp life.

RELION™ this is the module you need to reliably strike amalgam lamps as it incorporates patented FastStart® technology. It is a mandatory requirement that emergency luminaires achieve 50% of their design light level in just 5 seconds and without incorporating the correct technology this cannot be achieved. This range also has the option of AT4 AutoTest® and DALI communication.

CERIAN

The CERIAN™ provides totally reliable operation of simpler fluorescent lamps. Each product incorporates a five-pole relay and can be used with all types of electronic high frequency ballasts.

Connections are made via push wire terminals with fast fix push to release points. The range also includes the option of Mackwell’s latest AT4 AutoTest® which performs a commissioning test upon connection to a permanent mains supply, a 30 second monthly functional test and a full rated duration test at yearly intervals in accordance with the latest International standard IEC62034. AT4 AutoTest® options also offer the opportunity to monitor and interrogate emergency lighting installations remotely using DALI communication.

As lamp manufacturers continue to reduce the level of mercury in their products PRIMIAN-2™ offers totally reliable operation of the widest range of lamps within the guidelines prescribed by all the major lamp manufacturers.

This is achieved by the inclusion of SmartStart technology which provides initial cathode heating to facilitate lamp striking. When the lamp has struck, the heating is removed to maximise BLF. In addition, PRIMIAN-2™ also features a comprehensive range of AT4 AutoTest® options. Mackwell’s leading automatic self-testing protocol, tests in accordance with the latest International standard IEC62034 and provides peace of mind to end-users that they are satisfying all their statutory testing obligations. AT4 AutoTest® options also offers the opportunity to monitor and interrogate emergency lighting installations remotely using DALI communication.

ADVANZE-2

The ADVANZE-2™ product range, specifically designed to operate T5 lamps, benefits from the incorporation of Q-Start™ technology, the patented lamp switching method used to preserve lamp life. The ADVANZE-2™ range ensures that: • Cathodes are pre-heated for 2 seconds ensuring ideal thermionic emission. • Starting voltage is applied to strike the lamp. • Cathode heating maintained at a minimum level for optimum emission temperature during the running condition. The ADVANZE-2™ range is unique in providing an emergency solution that delivers lamp life comparable to that of mains ballasts.

The range is now available in our lowest profile T5 can, just 21mm high and is equipped with Mackwell’s patented SmartCharge™ which monitors battery status and significantly improves energy-efficiency whilst reducing the operating temperature of NiMH batteries by up to 6ºC.
