chuckie vs betatraxx With huge parties all over the world, dancefloor smash releases and wealth of fresh new talent, there’s no doubt Dutch DJ/producer Chuckie and his ever-ready Dirty Dutch imprint are taking the world by storm. Your mix CD, a backto-back, no-holds-barred beatdown with his new protégé, the incredible Betatraxx, is a thundering, theatrical mix that takes no prisoners over nearly 60 sweat-drenched minutes. From Amadou and Mariam to Zedd via The M Machine, Betatraxx runs us through this turbo-charged mix.

3 Betatraxx Panzer “Takes an Avicii-sounding track and drops a dark groove instead of a variation on the same melody.” 4 M Machine Trafalgar “M Machine have been developing their sound over the last few years. This is something special.” 5 Chuckie Together “A distorted lead synth, little wobble fills and hints of glitchiness. Fuses various styles into one big track.” 6 Glowinthedark Lights Out vs Let’s Get This Party Started “A huge build and massive,

7 Amadou & Mariam Sabali (Vitalic remix) “Beautiful, interesting voices and the creativity of Vitalic. In a league of its own.” 8 Chuckie & Gregori Klosman Mutfakta “I don’t think I’ve ever seen a crowd get more excited. Simplicity and confidence.” 9 Chuckie & hardwell feat ambush Move It 2 The Drum “The second drop is one of the most interesting melody lines I’ve ever heard: clean, dark and creepy all in one.” 10 Christina Perri Arms (Betatraxx remix) “Takes feel-good folk and makes it something it’s not” 11 Gregori Klosman Low Battery (Betatraxx edit) “Pure power: a huge kick and a perfectly sidechained subbass filling the sound space.”

12 Zedd Slam The Door “Zedd is the king of timing. Every synth has its own space; each note length is so precise and dynamic.” 13 Shilo Foreshadowing “Wish I had made this!” 14 Betatraxx Symphony No 3 (Mercury) “Stage three of my plan to create electronic music that incorporates complex chords, detailed counterpoint and chord changes.” 15 Morten Breum & Betatraxx Get Static “Bright electro sits well with a warm, deep house track. It’s all about contrast.” 16 Noisia Tommy’s Theme “I’m a big fan of classical sounds in electronic music. A beautiful build that uses melody to create tension without gimmicks.”

dancefloor dictionary Turbulence n. DJ jargon for a wobbly stand. “I’d steer clear of the vinyl decks mate, it’s a real area of turbulence” The 99% n. A clubber, or group of clubbers, who decide to sit somewhere really stupid, thus occupying and blocking a much

needed thoroughfare. “Oi 99%, this is the only staircase leading to the toilets, can’t you go and occupy a cab home if you want to sit and play with each other’s hair?” See also: The 1% n. a DJ quaffing Champagne in a club full of students who have had to sneak in booze

Fifa Street Inspired by real street footballers from around the world, Fifa Street lets you play in 35 different environments from Rio de Janeiro to London, Amsterdam and New York in customisable matches of three- to six-a-side tournaments, street challenges and online head-to-heads. You can unlock footie megastars to join your battle, but even as a simple kickabout this a great addition to the footballing genre. It’s not easy, but with so many tricks, dribbles, juggles and aerial skills available, mastering it will have you shouting “Nuts!” and showboating like Messi himself.

Entered Narnia n. The point when a DJ goes ‘through the wardrobe’, ie stops wearing T-shirts and jeans like a normal person and starts dressing flamboyantly.“I just saw Damian Lazarus wearing a technicolour dreamcoat at a Miami pool party – he’s really entered Narnia, that one”

Mass Effect 3 Like galactic war? Then you’ll love the latest instalment of one of the most popular shooters in recent history. As Commander Shepard, a war-torn veteran who’s willing to do whatever it takes to save Earth from an almost unstoppable – and frickin’ epic-looking – alien invasion, you’ll harness a team of well ’ard soldier types whose different weapons and abilities are as key to Earth’s destiny as the relationships you choose to forge or break along the way. Visually stunning, and delivering more action than Paris Hilton behind a DJ booth, this one’ll be worth the wait.

Armored Core V Blast your way through a post-apocalyptic world or epic third-person, machine warfare-piloting Armored Core mecha – customisable fighting machines made from parts resembling helicopters, artillery guns, jetpacks and tanks. Focusing on team co-op and online multi-player modes, enemies can invade your territory even when you’re not online, making it essential to defend your turf with all sorts of fire power and protect land emblazoned with your logo. With up to 20 people per team, built via a Facebook community, you can even become a strategic operator, delivering data on all your enemy’s weaknesses. phil dudman

Syndicate Penned by sci-fi writer Richard Morgan, Syndicate is a Blade Runner-esque first person shooter set in a sinister, ungoverned world where three corporations vie for market dominance and ultimate power. Unnervingly, it’s easy to imagine somewhere where everything is connected digitally – including people – via implants that enable players to dilute time, see through walls and hack into others’ heads to make them switch sides or even commit suicide. Featuring fourplayer online co-op and weapons that can fire round corners, it’s brutal, brilliant and futuristic.
